I like resto-mods. I think it is bringing life to the cars that were not the cream of the muscle car crop. Now 6 cylinder coupes can have a second life as a clone car or a resto-mod. You can have all of the looks of a Hemi-‘Cuda or Yenko Camaro with the handling and gas milage of a modern car. That was my original plan for the Chally until I found it to be numbers matching.
jonmandudeParticipantAnything Corvette. Yes it has always been a great car but world class? I am not so sure. Chevrolet’s build quality is nowhere near true world class car status. Best car for the price? Yes. But best hands down (as most ‘vette owners feel)? No way
And soon that “best in price” title will be up for debate with the new Nissan GTR. Has anyone seen the stats on that monster? Move over Porsche here comes Nissan….again
jonmandudeParticipantIt will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months. It seems as though the market for everything is heading for a slump. In the past 5 to 10 years the price of everything shot up waayy too quickly and sooner or later the market will not be able to support itself. Plus with 2 new versions of muscle cars coming out next year (Camaro and Challenger) will the price of classics take a little hit?
jonmandudeParticipantQuote:I have yet to stop into Blue Chip and check out there shop. I know one guy who works over there and he’s a pretty nice guy. The other guys I met at QSL one night seemed to be pretty decent to talk to also. I hope they succeed and past demons don’t haunt them too much, we need a shop like this around here!!!I know many people have lingering bad feelings towards Dave. My view has been and will always remain that everyone is allowed to make some mistakes in life and deserves a second chance. I will not discuss what happened, it is in the past and should remain there. Dave is extremely knowledgeable. He is an asset to anyone who knows him.
jonmandudeParticipantI heard about this Sunday afternoon. I knew Kevin . I was out in LA playing music right after the big explosion of bands. I have videos of early Quiet Riot playing backyard parties and clubs like the Whiskey with Randy. It is sad, he was a very good guy.
jonmandudeParticipantQuote:It sure would be nice to have a restoration shop in this area like those you see on tv ~ without all the drama, but of course!Blue Chip is probably the closest we have. If you know the guys, they have no problem with people stopping by. I have stopped a few times and have never seen any drama, just a couple dozen cars in various stages of restoration. Last time I was the there, they were mating a 65 Chevelle body with it’s frame, all nice and clean like.
jonmandudeParticipantThe experts say that Black Friday is the best day of the year for deals, followed closely by the Saturday before Christmas. Me, personally, I would rather spend the extra cash to not deal with crowds….or getting up at God awful hours of the night.
jonmandudeParticipantQuote:There’s another business (bar/restaurant) owner who occasionally frequents the forum. He is also the guy who put on the Cars on State Street Show last year. His first name is JD and I actually met him and talked with him at length this year at the Sun Prairie Show. Can someone help me with the last name. I would think that your talents and expertise and experience from the QSL would get his interest, as I understand he would like to do another Cars on State Street next year.I appreciate that. If you find out who he is or what bar he owns, I would be interested in talking with him.
jonmandudeParticipantOh, have you all heard about the silliness in Sydney, Australia? Santa is not allowed to say “ho, ho, ho” anymore because the term may be offensive to women. Now they are to say “ha, ha, ha”.
This world has lost it.
jonmandudeParticipantMy mother works at Kohls South Towne. She had to be there for them to open at 4:00am. She said that there were 35 cars in the lot at 3:30. What is up with people? Do you have so much money to waste that you have to get up extra early to spend it? My Gawd!!! I have never understood the “it was on sale so I had to buy it” mentality.
I only look forward to one thing at Christmas…an excuse to wear my Grinch tie.
jonmandudeParticipantI had about five offers before I left the Lube, but, as life is, if you wait you miss out. I am not too concerned Many bars and restaurants have tried to hire me away from QSL (foolish me I stayed faithful) I just need to talk to them all again.
jonmandudeParticipantWhen the one person has control over your money, you are usually forced into a decision. When they promoted her to bar manager, she immediately started changing my schedule to the point where I was making 50 to 60 percent less money. I went to Scott (the owner) and he and I sat down and readjusted back. He said then that I was too important with cruise night to let go. After the cruise nights ended it all went right back, I guess I wasn’t that important anymore. It is not right but it is what it is. I worked my butt off for that place and put a huge part of myself into it. I loved working there. Yes, it is a shame that one person can ruin something you care about.
Everything happens for a reason.
jonmandudeParticipantI put it on ebay for 7 days.
I sold it because of what happened at QSL. The new bar manager, who for no real reason didn’t like me, messed up my schedule so badly that I got behind on bills. That is how she forced me out of the Lube. It is a shame when someone gets a position of power and makes things personal and not professional. Besides the car cruise ins, I was one of the best bartenders there. She just didn’t like me, never did from day one. I rarely ever even spoke with her. Some people just don’t gel.
jonmandudeParticipantThat guy with the Challenger isn’t asking enough. I just sold mine for $15,100 to a guy in Sweden.
jonmandudeParticipantI think the housing market is just beginning to see a crash. It has had to happen for years, and the automobile market will be next. It has all gotten way out of hand. The prices of house and autos has grown much more quickly than the average rate of pay. Sooner or later all things inflated have to burst.
