Screw job? Why is that a screw job? Where do you think they get that money to pay for all those state employee, city employee and other’s health care where they don’t have to pay anything into it like the rest of us.

Unions aside, the idea of having to put in for your health insurance is something that needs to be brought up. I pay fully a third of my take home pay for my health plan. Why shouldn’t state and city and school workers do the same? Attempting to decertify the unions involved will only serve to tie up the debate in courts.

The whole thing about this is, why didn’t Doyle go for SuperSteel? This company was already based here and had the ability to build rail cars instead of getting Talgo, a foreign company that made it clear they were not hiring minorities. Because of this decision by Doyle, Supersteel lost a major contract from a Japanese company to build cars for the METRA lines in Illinois. BTW, as for not having a connection to the Twin Cities, Amtrak already has the Empire Builder route to that destination. Going to Madison (actually Dane County Airport) in the middle of nowhere requires cabs to where you really want to go from the station. I never supported this so-called high speed rail line because it would never support itself. It would be a government subsidized service that we would be on the hook for. I like rail travel but I would more use my car to go to Madison…and get there quicker and cheaper.

Here is another road I had some fun on when I lived in Santa Barbara.

Kettle Moraine Trail. Top to bottom or vice versa. Awesome roads to drive. Nice tight corners and gullies and ridges and some small towns to pass through. Any roads through the Kettle region of the state. When on a trip, I usually find random roads and just head in the general direction of my destination.

There is a KIA dealer in the Milwaukee area that has some little kid voice over in the background going “Wanna see ya inna KIA”. Drives me bonkers. Could be a Darrow dealer.

In Maryland everyone…and I mean everyone pays 1% over and above their Federal and State taxes to fund education and the property taxes stay at the same rate for years at a time.
Think about it.. if you make 50K per year, you pay a flat $500 as a county tax and it’s done….everybody pays their share and it doesn’t burden just one group and go up and up every year.

That actually sounds like a good plan.

Who exactly will ride this train? I certainly have no need to use it. There is a reason railroads have left or shortened their service. It doesn’t make money and the government won’t want to be on the hook forever with this. Also, there will be some cost passed on to local governments and the state. All the interurban rail lines left business in the late 50 to early 60s. Ever see those walking and bike trails in the Milwaukee suburbs? Those used to be electric train lines. North Shore Lines? They are gone as well. Even the Milwaukee Road stopped passenger service because the freight side of that business could no longer support the passenger line. I rode the train when I was small because dad worked for the railroad. We rode free with our passes. Amtrak? If the fed did not subsidize that, it would be so expensive, no one would ride. The ease of private auto ownership has rendered the train obsolete. It only somewhat works in highly dense population areas like NYC or LA or Boston. Madison to Milwaukee will only attract few riders. After the initial newness wears off, it will be empty for the most part. This is like subsidizing the buggy whip makers at the dawn of the auto age.

A few questions about the car shows in 2010:

    Favorite Show –
Annual Corn Roast put on by the Wisconsin Street Rod Association in Fond du Lac on Labor Day weekend. also any show I’m directly involved with as DJ or artist. I also like the Port Washington Fish Days show…very relaxing.

    Least Favorite Show –
    Any Goodguy’s event.

Most annoying trend at this year’s shows –
Dollars for votes…since when did ACORN get involved with car shows LOL

    Biggest disappointment this year –
Solid Gold McDonald’s cruise night losing attendance, and the “don’t really care” attitude by the owners.

Best new trend at shows –
i don’t know if it’s a trend, but the free Ice Cream at the Road Apple’s show was very thoughtful.

Did you attend as many shows as the previous year? –
    Yes

Will you attend more or less shows next year? –
    Yes

Would you rather attend a cruise-in or a car show? –
I like both, but I think I did more shows than cruises…only because I DJ a cruise night in Muskego and work (day job) has been crazy this past summer.

What are your overall impressions of this year’s shows?

Over all nice. I appreciate the organizers who have hired me to DJ at their shows and the organizers who invited me to come and draw cars.

Thanks for all your hard work on this. I am sorry I was not available to make the hearing last month due to job responsibilities. I am, however keeping an eye on this and will be waiting to hear more on this. In the meantime, be aware, join SEMA, read the car forums. I spoke with a member of the Mercedes-Benz Club and he was not aware of this. More people need to be aware. If you meet someone who is anyhow related to a car collecting club, inform them of it.

What is your source? I would like to see examples of this before my decision is made. Of course Feingold being in favor of Doyle’s Spanish Choo Choo has nothing to do with this outsourcing?

I agree. No matter where one stands in their political view, don’t rely on 30 second ads on TV or radio. Do some research. And above all, SNL is not a news show.

I know this might be a ride for some of you, but I recommend the Weske benefit on the 10th in Hubertus. I donated my DJ service for the day.

I was there. Wet wet wet! Caravaning with Cap’n Bob & Arlo, Arlo had a tire go bad on the little trailer he was pulling. It is not fun trying to find a place that sells trailer tires at 7:30 Ayem on a Sunday. Thank God for WalMart. They were open and had a trailer tire. Made no money drawing cars. Went to turn on the HHR’s radio to hear the Packer game and the DIC told of a low tire pressure condition…I HAD A FLAT!!! Put on the donut and went back to the same Wally World to get the tire fixed. I went home after that.
