Being the Ultra-Conservative that I am, I would’ve done it more tactfully

This proposal might not even get sent to the Transportation Committees (although you’d think it would). It could get sent to other committees if the Trans. Committees are too busy, or if they expect too much controversy (!). (We will need to identify the members involved, whichever committees are selected.)
The members of those two committees will only heed comments from their constituents. So citizens in committee-members’ districts will have the greatest influence, and should request their elected officials to place votes that represent the citizen’s interest.
The rest of us should contact our elected officials, and request that they speak to committee members, on our behalf.
You can find out who your Senator and Assembly Representative are at this site:
http://www.legis.state.wi.us/The web-page (which I wrote of previously) is intended to help in the identification of committee members, and then notify voters in members’ districts to submit comments to the right people. I’ll write more as it happens.

You know, this has been a question as of late, I think I need to clear a few things up.
To answer your question, No, I am not a member of the Road Apples Car Club. I have not been an official member since my term as club secretary ended a few years ago. I enjoyed being a club official, but I did what I felt all politicians should do – serve my time and get out. I have many friends who are active club members. I try to attend as many RA events as possible, but it is hard with my time consuming schedule. I feel the RA put on one of the best car shows ever this year, have the best cruise night offered during the week, and not only do the boast a high club membership, they have been a fully functional club since 2004 when certain people stepped down, as they left on there own accord due to not getting things there way. You may hear that someone was ‘forced’ out of the club, this is not the case but I’m sure if I didn’t know any better I would believe it also.
A dear friend of mine has who is a member of the RA has put up with a lot of BS the past few years. That person is also the same person who has been very strong and poured there soul into that car club all while raising two children and maintaining a marriage to another great induvidual. Running any organization is hard work, but when I see someone’s hard work get sabotaged I get pissed off. As of late, my friend has been reprimanded by the Administrators of this forum for merely stating the honest facts. But as its been proven, the facts don’t mean jack squat. Its also true that as of late the lurkers rule this asylum, as those who don’t post have all the pull, and those that do post catch all the flack.
As one of those induviduals who seems to catch some flack for his opine, I don’t really care who thinks what of my opinion because it is just that – my opinion.
I read the email sent to my friend about false info today, and reading this email my name was mentioned. Further reading into this email, I understand its the impression of the Administrators that I am a liar, so let me clear this up – I did call John from the BID. I even told him my name, so it wasn’t anonymus. For the record, I called him at 4:50 pm on Weds 8/26. Our conversation lasted 2 minutes and 25 seconds. I clearly asked him if any local car clubs were apart of this event and he told me “no”. Not only are cellphones handy, but they are also great to back up any case. I’m a lot things to a lot of people, an a–hole being one of the top five, but a liar I am not. I would rather a person know my true feelings and be upset instead of me either lie to them, or have them lurk around in the shadows and find out otherwise. Those that know the real me know what I’m about. Those that think they know me view me as an arrogant, mouthy, inconsiderate little bastard who’s daddy buys him his cars… you know who you are. Yes, I can be arrogant. Yes, I have a mouth that acts before my brain sometimes. No, I am not inconsiderate, my mommy raised me better than that. And finally No, my daddy don’t buy my cars, I do. Those that know me know this. I’m a grown man for Pete’s sake!
As I bid farewell to posting on this forum until things change, or truth sets most of you free, I will say that I have no hard feelings towards the Administrators. I consider you both a great asset to the collector car and car show community. I have made many friends and aquaintances here that I wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for this forum, along with a few enemies too  I can’t stand to sit here at my PC and watch these events any more, nor will I induldge myself into “bending over” and eating my opine.
Best of luck to you all,
Zac Johnson (Moparkid25)

The event will feature custom cars, hot rods, street rods, mods, antiques, classic cars and more.
Sponsored by the Sun Prairie downtown Business Improvement District (BID). the cruises are held for fun.
In addition to cars, Market Street Diner will be selling grilled brats and burgers and pie.
The Sassy Cow Creamery will be selling homemade root beer floats.
For additional information please contact John Weishar at 608-235-8475.
Boy the info for this show changes faster then I can change my underwear. I now see it says:
Note: Plan on arriving not earlier than 5:45 PM. Street does not close until 5:45 PM. Everyone is invited. Bring your family and friends for a fun night out in Sun Prairie.
All this confusion is making my head hurt, so I called Mr. Weishar. He said you can start arriving at 5:45pm (that’s when the city will let him close the street), and the event is from 6-9pm. The Sun Prairie Business Improvement District is putting this on, without the help of any car club, despite any info that was posted saying the Wisconsin Summer Cruisers was hosting this event. There is no awards, as this is a cruise-in style event.
I know cirlcetrack had also checked this info and edited it in the Car Show Calendar, and then it was re-edited by someone else. Thank You Rachael for your effort and clearing things up I would also like to thank Xman on his efforts to help get things cleared up
I would like to ask that any info posted regarding any show or cruise night be accurate so we don’t get this kind of confusion in the future. There have been many conflicting reports about Hot August Nights, and this much confusion could cause a member or guest of this forum to not attend such an event. It would also be a good idea to post a contact name and number/email with any event on the calendar.
moparkid25ParticipantI’m gonna get out of work early on Thursday afternoon so I can head up to Hot August Nights in Sun Prairie, this should be a good time
Saturday I think I’ll head down to Janesville to the Jesus Built My Hot Rod show. I’ve never been to this show and I know for a fact there’s a ton of cool cars in the Janesville area. Plus, I think those that know will agree I could use a little Jesus in my life
Ryan, what time are you thinking of heading down? Maybe we could meet up and take the HWY 14 scenic route from Oregon…

Quote:I think some car shows might benefit from a class like this if their show is geared toward newer cars.
Volkswagen New Beetle
Pt Cruiser
HHR
New Camaro
New Challenger
New Mustang

…any car styled to resemble a earlier version of that car. I guess you could drop Excaliburs, Clenets, Zimmers and such into this class as well.In My Opinion, The retro class would not work. The camaro/challenger/mustangs usually go in a Modern Muscle class, and a lot of shows are adapting this class to accomodate those cars. Prowlers, even though there a V6, would better fit in a two-seat sports car class. I’m not sure you could get a lot of HHR’s and PT Cruisers to pick up the slack
Not trying to shoot your idea down, because it is a good idea. Maybe in a metropolitan area you would get enough traffic for that class, but around my area I think it would be a bust.
moparkid25ParticipantI think the Corvettes should be classed together, with year breakpoints like C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C6. C6 would also include the Z06 and the Zr1. With Corvettes, group them by genre. This also eliminates a fully restored Stingray having to compete against a new Z06 with 2500 miles on it.
With Vipers, they should be included in two-seat sports cars or Modern Muscle class. It would be hard to give Vipers there own class at an all-makes show as they’ve not been in production for 56 years like the Corvette.
Newer imports like the 350z, Skyline, Tiberoun (if you’ve ever seen one at a show…I haven’t) should go in import-They are not a modern muscle car. Muscle Car should be defined as built by American Manufacturers.
Cars like the SVT Focus and the Cobalt SS aren’t Imports, but more “Tuners”. If they have been modified, they should go in Modified class. If they are stock, they go in Stock Class for there years. Same should go for your Impala SS (Both supercharged 6 and V8), Ford SHO’s, and your new 6 cyl Camaro’s and Challengers along with other cars which we don’t really see many of around here.
I too agree with DDhemi, there should be rules for a Best of Show vehicle. In no way, shape, or form -unless heavily modified- should a late model car win this award.

Quote:Two man teams work best. That way it should only take both 5 mins to judge a car.In my opinion how clean a car is should be looked at first. You car usually tell how nice a car is by its engine bay and how detailed it is.
Body work and paint next.
Seats, carpet, dash, glass
Underside
Trunk
When i judge a car the very first thing i look at is the engine bay. Here is where you seperate the regulars from the freaks. I always look at each car in the class and revert back to ones that i have already judged. Dust, grease, water spots, wax in the cracks, all the small stuff. Look to see if someone has taken the time to clean off all the grass and dirt from the tires. Look for that extra mile someone has gone to show their car. I like judging the “freaks” cars at shows. When two cars are so close i always look back at the small stuff like how clean the car is.
When judging stock cars, its just that. Look to see if they are running the stock battery, stock tires, factory glass and so on. Cars that are in stock classes get knocked for having aftermarket wheels, air cleaners, valve covers ect. Stock means stock
When judging modified your looking to see who has more mods on their car. You really cant judge the internals of a car so if something looks stock but has a big cam and exhaust it goes in stock. Crate motors, like 426 Hemis that are in stock cars should also go in stock. Same thing as a replacement motor. Modified cars should have aftermarket wheels and “bolt-on” performance parts. If two cars are close in modified, first i look to see whos car is cleaner, then who has more mods. Other judges might reverse those two but in my world, its who has the cleaner car.
+1. Great minds think alike

I’ll be headed to DBQ on Sunday for the Mopar show too!
moparkid25ParticipantWisconsin Collector Car welcomes everyone to post on the forum. The forum is a place for everyone to discuss and debate topics and share information and love of the hobby. A few rules apply to each post made on the forum:
-Respect the viewpoints of others
I agree. You don’t have to like what they post, but you should respect there opinion.-Offer constructive criticism, not destructive or hurtful criticism
Some members are very forward, where some are more light-hearted. We all post for the same reasons, and one of those reasons is to help make shows better in the future. Granted, some people cant take constructive criticsm at all, where others prefer to take what has been recommended to heart.-No flaming. Personal attacks will not be tolerated
Online, it is hard to determine whether you are flaming someone or just having fun. My recommendation to all users would be to use the smilies located to the left of your post box. These help set the mood of the post, and help others determine how you intended your thoughts to come across. Now, if someone posts using foul language, racial slurs, comments about one’s mother, etc., action should be taken immediately.-No personal attacks on others’ vehicles. Everyone works hard on their cars
I agree 100%. I heard it a lot a few years ago when I rolled on the scene with my ’68 Charger. People whispering under there breath about how my daddy bought me my car or cars. I busted my a$$ to have some of the cars I have had. Yes, some were quite expensive too! That is a token of hard work, determination, confidence, and education. I don’t think many people in this hobby would have the cars they do if they had not worked for it…. but then again there are the people who recieved the “free lunch.” If that’s the case so be it. We are all entitled to our opinion about another person, there property, and how they conduct themselves. Opinions are like belly buttons-everybody has one, and some stick out while others stay tucked in.-Please follow these rules to make the Wisconsin Collector Car Forum a fun, lively place where everyone feels comfortable and welcome. Remember that different people view the Internet differently. Some see it as a completely anonymous place where they post whatever they want. Others see it as a personal extension of themselves. For this reason, please treat every post you make as something that would be said face-to-face to others. Any posts that violate the above rules will be edited by the moderators without prior warning. Everyone’s opinion is of course respected, but hurtful comments will be removed.
I think most that know me know I’ll say what I post in person  The only rule that I challenge is the removal of a members post without there knowing. My recommendation on this would be to first discuss the nature of the post with that member. Then, if the post is not within the guidelines of WCC, ask that member to delete there post. IMO, this could handled on a more personal level with positive feedback. I think that if the moderators just go and delete posts with no notice, that in turn could be harmful to the morale of the members on WCCAnd yes, I’ll be the first guy to say the moderators have PM’d me on more than one occasion asking me to edit a post  And I have done just that. I enjoy this forum very much and I think a lot of other people do too.
