This morning I got up early enough to head to spot to take a decent photo of my bug with the Madison skyline in the back ground. Where else could one go in Madison to have some nice background for car photos?

Nice! Where did you take those? I know a few of the parks have some good spots. It’s too bad we don’t have fountains anymore (that I know of) as those always provide a nice backdrop.

That is a great shot! I think along Observatory Drive would make a cool shot looking down at the lake.

It was at Olin Turville park up by the shelter. You need to get there before 8AM or there are to many cars around to take good pics.

Most of my shots the background was overexposed. Here is a shot where I zoomed in all the way to bring the background closer (but the background is over exposed…

Take a look on your camera and see if it has a setting for “Auto Bracket”. What this will do is automatically take 3 shots of differing exposures right after each other. Using this technique, you could take that image and send me the 3 of them and I’ll merge them into a HDR image. The idea behind HDR is to eliminate over and under-exposure in the image. Since in the image you posted the background is overexposed but the car is just right, combining one with less exposure would even it out across the board and produce an even better photograph

I know of one place I take pictures. If you go South on Rimrock Rd past the ghetto, there is a left hand turn right before you get to CTY MM and it goes back into some residential. Before you get into the houses, there is a spot where there is a nice retaining wall for a backdrop, and across the road from that is some prairie where you can also get some good photo’s. The backdrop in my avatar is some property my dad owns south of Blue Mounds.

I found a good place. It is in the park in Belleville, the background is the lake.

On a side note, I put up some of my more artistic photos on Flickr, including many of which are classics:

For fall color photos, there are many nice county/town roads in western Dane County (moparkid25 territory) near Mt. Horeb, Blue Mounds, etc. Here’s a few shots I took of my convertible in the Town of Vermont before the snow started flying…
