After setting up camp in Dawson City, we went to dinner, then a Can Can show! In the evening we heard something outside the tent. In the morning we found out what it was! After a leisurely morning,we headed south and stopped to camp along the Yukon River at Carmacks .

We met LaVern Beier ,born in Sparta Wisconsin, been in Alaska since he was 17. He worked 43 years for the state of Alaska mainly doing grizzly bear research. He gave us a tour of his 65 foot 30’s vintage boat. After that we headed north to tour a Catholic church on an island. At a state park we saw this nice GTO !

This was our campsite for to the past 3 nights. Great private campsite owned by a mother and daughter. We had electric for our heater , gazebo and table to eat and cook under, and hot showers! Juneau is in a temperate rainforest. Look at the size of that fern ! Although it’s been cloudy and in the 50″s , the rain has held off for the most part. Two sites down we met a couple from California that own a 1972 Pinto Runabout! They thought they were the only ones that still owned a Pinto!

Spend our last day in Juneau visiting the Mendenhall Glacier. What a sight ! After that we checked into our room at the University of Alaska Southeast. It was a two bedroom suite with living room and full kitchen! Donna did not feel well, so she rested while I did laundry. Tomorrow is an early day. Up at 3:30 am to catch the ferry south at 4:15.

Continuing east on highway 16. Went by the “World’s Largest” Fly Fishing Rod in Huston British Columbia. Lots of cattle and farm lands. We have had to change our travel plans because of road closures south of us in British Columbia. Also both of us have summer colds, not fun !

After a morning rainbow we headed South on BC 5 towards Kamloops. Shortly after leaving we passed the 8,000 mile mark. Had lunch by the water at the Painted Turtle Restaurant. We are staying just east of Kamloops tonight. After weeks in the 50’s it hit 89 here!

Left Lumby British Columbia driving through the southern British Columbia Rockies. The scenery does not end. Went on our fourth ferry ride. Crossed the border in North East Washington. We are back in the lower 48, or as LaVern from Juneau calls it “the old country” Saw something rarer that a Pinto tonight !

Left our campsite just outside of Glacier National Park and drove the Going to the Sun Road. Beautiful views everywhere! Then headed south. Tonight we are in Helena Montana. Driving down we were in full sun and the mid 90’s! We are not use to this weather as we have been in the 50’s for the past few weeks.
