Driver Licenses for Illegal Aliens

What do you think of Governor Elliot Spitzer’s idea to give drivers licenses to illegal aliens?

It doesn’t. and won’t, make any difference. Now they just drive without licenses. If we make them get licenses, they will just give false info and drive without a care anyway. Where will there be an improvement?

It’s not just about driving. Without a valid license or other state ID there are other things you can’t do. Any time you need to show an ID, the drivers license is the usual choice. Get stopped by the police? Show a license. Want to write a check? Show a license. Need to prove your age to buy cigarrettes or alchol? Show a license. Life is easier with it than without it.

Bottom line the illegals should not be here. They are costing US taxpayers loads of money and are a drain on many of our resources. If the illegal aliens would never of been able to get in the companies who have hired them would be paying higher wages and US citizens would be willing to do that work. The companies need to be penalized for hiring them and penalized harshly.

It seems like this law is a form of “giving up”. Like the government is saying “We can’t control this, so we might as well make it legal”. I’m getting flashbacks of the early ’70s drug legalization efforts.

They’re in this country illegally. The only way I would support a law making them eligible for driver’s licenses is so that they could have a way of luring them into the DMV office, arresting, and then deporting their butts back across the border thumbsup.gif

If they want to live here, there are legal means available. They have to obey the same rules and procedures that European immigrants have had to for centuries.

Its time to get these politicians out of office who come up with these stupid ideas. People in this country don’t seem to really care. As long as it doesn’t touch them directly they don’t seem to care, or are too lazy to.
