Gas Price Roll Call

What’s the going rate for gas in your part of the world? Currently this is what I am seeing in the Houston area.

87 octane – $2.09/gallon
91 octane – $2.15/gallon
93 octane – $2.22/gallon

I filled up last Thursday and it cost me $29.00 to fill up the tank in the Mustang, which is the highest I have ever paid. The way my motor has been tuned I have no choice but to use 93 octane. When I filled up that day there was a Hummer H2 behind me and I can tell from the owner’s face he was dreading the final tally. He filled up on 87 octane and when everything was said and done he had to fork over $50.00.

The sad thing was that he will probably have to fill up again in a couple of days.

The lowest I have found in the Houston area as of yesterday are as follows:

87 – $2.02
89 – $2.12
93 – $2.19

It has dropped even further as of this morning:

87 – $1.99
89 – $2.09
93 – $2.15

I think the reason why prices are lower in this region of the country is due to the close proxmity of the petrochemical plants through out Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisana.

Still hanging in about the same range. I know a few years back I was in Evansville Indiana and there was a new Sams Club store opening. This particular Sams Club also had a gas station, and they were selling gas for $.99 a gallon! icon_eek.gif I don’t think we’ll ever see that again!

When I worked in a gas station in the early ’70s we had gas wars with other stations.

I think the price was in the 30 to 40 cent range!!! icon_sad.gif icon_sad.gif icon_sad.gif
