Their cover article is a comparison between the 2006 Dodge Charger and 2005 Ford Mustang GT. Where else to do a comparison than the streets of San Francisco. Now, Ford doesn’t offer Dark Highland Green which was found on the 01 Bullitt but they resprayed a screaming yellow GT coupe to fit the bill at the request of Motor Trend. How cool is that?

The article also reveals that Ford may bring back the Bullitt in 2008, just in time for the 40th anniversary of the release of Bullitt.

In 2001 the Bullitt Mustang had an msrp of around $26-$28K. What wasn’t known that in order for Ford to use the Bullitt name for this special edition Mustang, they had to fork over $5,000 per car produced, that’s produced not sold, to Warner Brothers as a royalty fee. The final talley came out to $37.5 million dollars.

I’m pretty sure Warner Bros. will ask for compensation again and when you factor in inflation costs, it would not surprise me if the 2008 Bullitt will have an asking price of the low to mid 30K range.

This is a nice little find. Somebody decided to make an animated adaptation of the car chase, it’s called Boxitt. icon_cheesygrin.gif

Ford has a real marketing opportunity in the Bullitt Mustang.

If they’re smart they’ll take advantage of it!
