As the weather around Wisconsin deteriorates we are going to increase the number of virtual car shows we host in order to continue to have some fun with the cars over the long winter months. The next Virtual Car Show will be this Thursday, Sept. 14th starting at 8:00PM CST. If you have already registered your car for a show before, just click the “register for the show” button up above in this topic. If you have not registered a car before for the show you can submit it here:
    Register Here
Once you’ve submitted it then come back and click the “register for the show” button.

Please register your car even if you can’t come to the show. Once the show starts we will have live music and chat with all the other car owners and enthusiasts from around the state and even the world! We also will also have attendees vote on their choice for the “best in show.”

ericbecky[6:41:55 PM]: I’m still stuck in limbo with my ’52 deSoto. the guy who was going to sell me his engine decided not to. grrr.
Garibaldi[8:42:26 PM]: that would be my one issue with a sunroof is if you were getting sun on your head when you didn’t want it
Bodyslide[6:42:18 PM]: Got a really Great deal on it also, Window Sticker was 32,800, marked down to 27500- 4000 in rebates
Bodyslide[6:42:55 PM]: It does have an inside door to block out the Sun, also tilts ip like a pushup sonroof
Garibaldi[8:43:13 PM]: that’s not bad, that’s the smart way to buy a car
    Bodyslide[6:43:01 PM]: up not ip
Garibaldi[8:43:34 PM]: ericbecky are you going to try looking at Jefferson?
Bodyslide[6:43:42 PM]: More Pics are here: http://www.wiscollectorcar.com/gm/NEWCAR/
Bodyslide[6:44:09 PM]: I am going to remove the muffler and paint it, looks bad being silver. Will go with Black

Bodyslide[6:45:16 PM]: My son was in Cub scouts a few years ago he won 2nd place in the pine wood derby his last year
    ericbecky[6:45:29 PM]: Cool!
ericbecky[6:45:48 PM]: What level, Bear, Tiger, Wolf?

ericbecky[6:48:21 PM]: Hi circletrack. Nice chevelle.
    circletrack[6:48:37 PM]: Thanks!
ericbecky[6:48:41 PM]: Bodyslide, if you want it done right, you need to do it yourself.
ericbecky[6:48:50 PM]: It is a ton of work.
    Garibaldi[8:49:19 PM]: hey circletrack! welcome!
circletrack[6:49:17 PM]: what car do you have ericbecky?
    Bodyslide[6:49:49 PM]: I agree
circletrack[6:50:06 PM]: Evening Andrew! I almost forgot!
ericbecky[6:50:21 PM]: No car in the show today. I have a 52 DeSoto (with a spun bearing) plus I own a hybrid car (Honda Insight.) am i allowed to post a link here to my DeSoto Photos?
ericbecky[6:50:42 PM]: Don’t want to make a fool of myself.
    circletrack[6:51:08 PM]: Sure, why not?
GTO Man[6:51:13 PM]: Sure, post the link
    ericbecky[6:51:25 PM]: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ericbecky/album?.dir=9842
    GTO Man[6:51:26 PM]: Hi Circletrack
    circletrack[6:51:46 PM]: Hi everyone!
Garibaldi[8:52:27 PM]: ericbecky if you fill out the info for your car here I’ll add it to the show next time – http://www.wiscollectorcar.com/forum/form.php
Bodyslide[6:52:12 PM]: Sweet Car , Nice looking Cubs you have as well
GTO Man[6:52:17 PM]: That is a nice looking Desoto
Garibaldi[8:53:28 PM]: how long have you owned it?
circletrack[6:53:20 PM]: That’s nice! Where are you from?
ericbecky[6:54:39 PM]: Thanks Garibaldi. I live in sauk City. I’ve had it hmm. let me check. 5 years?
Garibaldi[8:55:41 PM]: have you been restoring it since you bought it? what was the condition when you first got it?
ericbecky[6:55:42 PM]: Looks like I’ve had it since I bought it at a local auction in the ping of 2000. so 6 years.
ericbecky[6:56:07 PM]: I have done a few minor things to it. but the last few years in (unfortunately) has been sitting.
    ericbecky[6:56:15 PM]: Spun a bearing.
Garibaldi[8:56:56 PM]: the one thing about these old cars is they need two things, time and money – both of which are precious commodities
circletrack[6:57:22 PM]: and the summers go entirely too quickly!
ericbecky[6:57:29 PM]: exactly. I am short on both of these things right now. I should really pass the car on to someone who has a bit more of both.
ericbecky[6:57:53 PM]: I tried to sell it once, but the guys who was going to buy it couldn’t get his act together.
GTO Man[6:57:56 PM]: Especially the way the weather has been
GTO Man[6:58:58 PM]: Sunday doesn’t look too good this weekend, I had hoped to get to Beloit
ericbecky[6:58:59 PM]: It left a bad taste in my mouth. anyone want to buy a desoto with a spun bearing for $650? :
GTO Man[6:59:34 PM]: THat seems like a good price
circletrack[7:00:18 PM]: I saw the forecast too, bummer!
GTO Man[7:00:19 PM]: There is a show coming up in about a week at Jefferson that has a car carral
ericbecky[7:00:31 PM]: It’s a good deal, but I have just run up against so many idiots I hardly want to deal withe selling it.
Garibaldi[9:00:53 PM]: there will be plenty of people (weather permitting of course) there, hopefully you could find a buyer
ericbecky[7:01:07 PM]: Some guys have every excuse why they can’t pick it up at the agreed time or for the agreed price. Geesh!
GTO Man[7:01:28 PM]: there is nothing more frustrating than selling a car
ericbecky[7:01:47 PM]: Cub Scout Campout is the weekend of Jefferson so I won’t be going.
GTO Man[7:02:02 PM]: Saturday looks good, I will probably go to Cross Plains
ericbecky[7:02:14 PM]: What’s in Cross Plains?
    Garibaldi[9:02:39 PM]: a car show
Garibaldi[9:02:50 PM]: they have many pre-1950s cars plus some tractors too
    Garibaldi[9:02:59 PM]: and some 60s – 70s
Garibaldi[9:03:14 PM]: also Beloit has a huge show on Sunday, 1200+ cars.. I’m going to try and get to that one
GTO Man[7:03:33 PM]: It is actually more than a car show, all kinds of mechanicals, cars from 1900 till today, civil war encampment, etc
Garibaldi[9:04:12 PM]: yes that’s true, they have old engines run on steam
    ericbecky[7:04:21 PM]: I am waayyy to busy. I…must…resist…must…focus …on…yardwork.
GTO Man[7:04:23 PM]: Beloit is a great show, brings up allot of beautiful cars from the Chicago area
Garibaldi[9:05:08 PM]: eh yardwork, it will all get covered up by snow eventually!
circletrack[7:04:53 PM]: changing the subject a bit ~ what’s a good spam blocker?
GTO Man[7:05:04 PM]: Once we get a freeze you don’t have to worry much about the yard
Garibaldi[9:05:30 PM]: spam in your email account?
    circletrack[7:05:46 PM]: yes
Garibaldi[9:06:27 PM]: what provider do you have? do you use outlook express?
circletrack[7:06:18 PM]: I’m not fond of yardwork either, we’ll have to mow like crazy the next couple days with all the rain
    circletrack[7:06:24 PM]: OE
Garibaldi[9:07:14 PM]: you can use a program called spampal with OE – http://www.spampal.org/
Garibaldi[9:07:27 PM]: however I would recommend setting up a gmail account, it has some advantages over OE
    circletrack[7:07:27 PM]: what’s gmail?
Garibaldi[9:07:42 PM]: first you can check hte account anywhere in the world, not just your computer with OE installed on it
Garibaldi[9:07:52 PM]: second it automatically filters spam and manages contacts
Garibaldi[9:07:59 PM]: gmail is google’s email service
    Garibaldi[9:08:09 PM]: http://mail.google.com
Garibaldi[9:08:22 PM]: I can send you a link to setup an account if you like
GTO Man[7:08:20 PM]: Bodyslide, you still there
    circletrack[7:08:29 PM]: sure
Garibaldi[9:09:19 PM]: invitation to gmail sent
Garibaldi[9:09:41 PM]: what you can do too is have your existing charter account redirect to the gmail too, that way you don’t have to change addresses
GTO Man[7:09:47 PM]: How was the cruise-in last night, I didn’t get a chance this week to attend any
ericbecky[7:09:51 PM]: I love gmail. I use it for my main account.
Bodyslide[7:10:16 PM]: If anyone needs invites for Gmail PM me I have a few left about 90
circletrack[7:10:26 PM]: Not too bad ~ 15 or so cars. The sun was supposed to come out much earlier than it did, that kept some away.
circletrack[7:10:43 PM]: It’s also getting late in the season and dark so early, those that live on the west side or the burbs don’t make it out as much
    Garibaldi[9:11:00 PM]: that’s always a problem
    Bodyslide[7:11:12 PM]: Still here…..GTO
Garibaldi[9:11:25 PM]: I use gmail for all the wisconsin collector car account managing, it is quite rich with features
Bodyslide[7:11:54 PM]: anyone need one my gmail is xxxx
    Bodyslide[7:12:55 PM]: I have 96 left
GTO Man[7:14:25 PM]: THe weather we have had is horrible
Garibaldi[9:14:51 PM]: today was pretty good though, some sun finally
GTO Man[7:14:45 PM]: Things really fall off after Labor Day
Bodyslide[7:14:48 PM]: It rained for a few days here, suppose to be nice the next week
GTO Man[7:15:20 PM]: Lets hope they are wrong about Sunday
GTO Man[7:15:46 PM]: Next week will be cool here, in the 50’s
Garibaldi[9:16:13 PM]: sounds like perfect weather for Jefferson, haha
ericbecky[7:16:01 PM]: bodyslide I have 99 left. I guess I need to get more friends!
    Garibaldi[9:17:07 PM]: haha me too
circletrack[7:16:59 PM]: do you get something for this?
Bodyslide[7:17:01 PM]: At one point I had 200 Invites, had a bunch of people at work who wanted them, so they got the first 100
    ericbecky[7:17:26 PM]: gotta go. bye!
    Bodyslide[7:17:37 PM]: bye
    circletrack[7:17:47 PM]: bye!
    ericbecky Has exited the room
circletrack[7:18:46 PM]: So, I will be using this instead of OE?
circletrack[7:18:59 PM]: Forgive me, I’m a bit computer challenged at times, can you tell?
Garibaldi[9:19:34 PM]: yes you would be using gmail instead of OE
Garibaldi[9:19:49 PM]: setup a gmail account and see how you like it, and you can recieve email from your other account too
Garibaldi[9:19:54 PM]: the interface has a lot of great features
circletrack[7:20:04 PM]: my charter mail will come to this, or I have to change it?
Garibaldi[9:20:25 PM]: you can setup your charter mail to come to it
Garibaldi[9:20:31 PM]: it won’t just by default though
Garibaldi[9:21:03 PM]: I don’t know charter mail so I don’t know if you can do it within the account. What you would probalby have to do is call charter and tell them
circletrack[7:20:52 PM]: and you would suggest that?
Garibaldi[9:21:11 PM]: “you want your email forwarded to xxx@gmail.com
Garibaldi[9:21:26 PM]: yes, that’s how I have the stuff for Wisconsin Collector Car setup and it works very well
circletrack[7:21:22 PM]: I’ll have to play with it for a bit and see what happens. This is free, correct?
Garibaldi[9:21:44 PM]: everything is in one place, it catches almost all the spam, and it makes it easy to send mail and manage contacts
    Bodyslide[7:21:35 PM]: free
    Garibaldi[9:21:49 PM]: yep completely free
Garibaldi[9:22:08 PM]: you can also import your OE contacts
    circletrack[7:23:01 PM]: I see!
circletrack[7:23:08 PM]: Did anyone go to Waterloo last weekend?
Garibaldi[9:23:30 PM]: I didn’t, I’m interested to hear how it went
Garibaldi[9:23:40 PM]: especially with all those cars on the slope right after the rain…
circletrack[7:25:29 PM]: Quite a few from the club went, they said it was miserable.
    Garibaldi[9:25:57 PM]: I bet
Garibaldi[9:26:03 PM]: they didn’t get any photos did they?
Garibaldi[9:26:29 PM]: I suppose they were too busy trying to keep their cars from sliding away! not a good location for a show when its wet
circletrack[7:26:56 PM]: I’ll have to ask. That’s really not a great location for a show when it’s sunny out. I’ll always remember one of the first times we went, acorns were dropping on cars all day long
GTO Man[7:27:06 PM]: THey should have the show on a flat area
Bodyslide[7:27:31 PM]: Anyone know a good page on how to add some led lights inside your car?
GTO Man[7:27:40 PM]: There is plenty of flat area in the park
Bodyslide[7:27:53 PM]: Looking to light up were your feet are in the new Chevy
circletrack[7:29:04 PM]: going to add some bling?
    Bodyslide[7:29:35 PM]: Just something different
Garibaldi[9:30:04 PM]: led isa great idea, never burns out!
Garibaldi[9:30:34 PM]: how are you thinking of doing it, integrating it into the dash or just stringing the wire outside?
circletrack[7:30:36 PM]: Well, I should go. I have a few things to get done before heading to bed for the night. This is fun, let me know when you plan another
Bodyslide[7:30:52 PM]: I’m just not sure how to run them or wht to connect it to for Power, I joined a TrailVoy Forum to see what Mods people are doing
    Bodyslide[7:30:58 PM]: Night Circle
Garibaldi[9:31:32 PM]: we’ll have another soon
Garibaldi[9:31:39 PM]: thanks for stopping by Rachael!
circletrack[7:31:24 PM]: See you at the shows!
Bodyslide[7:31:29 PM]: Thinking about somehow connecting with power from somewhere then having a switch to turn it on and off
Garibaldi[9:31:46 PM]: good luck with gmail, send me a PM about it
Garibaldi[9:31:49 PM]: see you sat or sun
Garibaldi[9:32:07 PM]: what about tapping into an unused power supply below the radio?
    circletrack Has exited the room
Garibaldi[9:32:19 PM]: don’t they usually have slots for add-on features
    Garibaldi[9:32:29 PM]: that’s a potential source
Bodyslide[7:32:52 PM]: No it will be an auxillary switch, probably located under the steering wheel
Bodyslide[7:33:14 PM]: I do have 2 cig lighters that aren’t being used
Bodyslide[7:33:21 PM]: Now to find some led’s
Garibaldi[9:33:41 PM]: that would be an easy solution
Bodyslide[7:33:52 PM]: Maybe get some LED XMAS lights and run them under the dash
Garibaldi[9:34:07 PM]: you could always modify christmas lights, and get some pine air fresheners!
Garibaldi[9:34:17 PM]: great minds think alike
Garibaldi[9:34:35 PM]: the nice thing about those is they have ones you can buy that automatically brighten/dim or glow in patterns
Garibaldi[9:34:51 PM]: that would be a very easy solution (esp with the cig lighter) that would have some great effects
Garibaldi[9:35:01 PM]: plus you can always swap bulbs to change colors ect
Bodyslide[7:34:48 PM]: That would be a true redneck truck then
Garibaldi[9:35:15 PM]: you know what would be really cool, fiber! but it probalby wouldn’t give off too much light
Bodyslide[7:35:04 PM]: Also thinking about adding a Train Horn
Bodyslide[7:35:14 PM]: The horns are about 250.00
Garibaldi[9:35:35 PM]: I always thought it would be nice to have a voice recorder setup to your horn, so you could record custom messages
Garibaldi[9:35:40 PM]: “Learn how to drive buddy”
Garibaldi[9:35:51 PM]: “get the $@%$ off the road”
    Garibaldi[9:35:57 PM]: haha
Bodyslide[7:35:45 PM]: That would be sweet
Garibaldi[9:36:08 PM]: I wonder if such a thing exists
Garibaldi[9:36:13 PM]: it would be very worth it
Garibaldi[9:36:22 PM]: I can see it paying for itself the first time i use it
