Of the list, I like the Typhoon the most.

I honestly think the policy of collector plates needs to be revisited… I see so many cars with plates that are far from collector cars – dents, rust – you name it, it’s insulting to those that have deserving cars

Agree with Jon on the Typhoon!

I liked the sycolnes better than the typhoon, though they share the same drivetrain. I worked on a lot of caddy allantes back in the day, they were/are an electrical nightmare and i get piss shivers everytime i see one. I feel old when i see collector plates on a fox body mustang, but then i realize i own a g-body with collector plates on it which drains my fountain of youth :)

I thought there were “rules” or guidelines to receiving collectors plates? Like
    1) had to be 2nd car
    2) could only be driven 11 month of year (no January)
    3) at least 20 years old

I wonder how many of these “2nd cars” are not collected but driven and looking for cheap plate option? Many seem to be daily driven old cars not collectors.

I know you have to send in photos now of all sides, the engine and the interior … I’m not sure if that is to stop the 1989 daily driver full of rust holes Toyota Collora owners from getting collector plates…

This year I finally get to get my collector plates for my 93 Mustang convertible !! Ive owned it nine years. I believe the pics of the engine compartment and all sides are to insure its stock, not modified.I am sure some people put the plates on older second cars to save some money.Others may truly love there cars like we all do.I wont judge people why they put a collector plate on their car be it a K Car or a Vette.

My point is.. collector plates should be reserved for cars that are not driven daily, yet year around, like I see everyday going to work. Everyone has a different definition on what a collector car is, but I think some automatically think – “it’s 20 years old, time for the plate”.

    I know a guy with collector plates on a K car(s)…

I also agree that daily srivers shouldnt have collector plates either. I see a late 80s chevy celebrity driving around Verona with blue plates on it year round.

Perfect example of abusing the system. “collectors plates, only pay once”.

People ignore the word “collector” and just see the pay only once

Just for the record that was not any of my K-cars  mine are used only for show and summer use only..

I agree, I think people should be fined for having collector plates on daily drivers in the winter, it is also insulting to us who care about our cars. There is an old fairdog (ford fairmont) that has blue plates and is a mail car year round, there is a chevy truck in the junkyard that has collector plates on it. Half tempted to grab the plate and claim it for myself
