Everything has been REALLY cleaned up.
We all complain about taking our cars for the emission
test but it has made a big difference.Years ago my van failed the test because the thermostat was bad.
I think I just hijacked this thread. Drogar-Oops(LBG).gif

If your car is old maybe they are only checking to make
sure the factory emissions haven’t been tampered with.In Ohio we have a tube stuck up our tailpipe and the car is
run on a treadmill at a certain speed.I think they are now changing to a system where they hook
up a scanner to the car’s computer port.June 9, 2005 at 5:44 pm #12902hpdog259962ParticipantMy car is 1970, I don’t think they have specs form the manufacturer, I think IL Emission just want to make sure it isn’t REALLY bad!
My car, a computer port. Drogar-Laugh(LBG).gif
June 9, 2005 at 10:09 pm #12903GaribaldiKeymasterAlso I wish they would bring those vents like they had on the old tbirds that would open on the sides, letting air in around your feet.
June 9, 2005 at 10:18 pm #12904AnonymousInactiveYeah, that’s another thing that is gone from vehicles today.
I think the reason is because it costs money to install
all of those little extras.Look at electronics in our homes. My old stereo has plenty of
knobs and buttons, but my new stereo, and also VCRs, have most
of the controls on the remote control. It’s a lot cheaper to build a remote than to install everything on
the stereo unit.Cars probably the same.
EDIT…. Those floor vents were GREAT when you were moving!
They really let in a lot of air. But, when you were stuck in traffic……………………………. icon_sad.gif icon_sad.gif icon_sad.gif

They were great when you were moving, it would be great having them again!
I’ve noticed the same things about remotes and stuff. The frustrating thing is I can’t even naviate menus on my dvds without the remote, a frustrating thing if I loose it!

My post probably was difficult to understand. icon_sad.gif
What I meant was, vent windows and floor vents take
time to install, so it’s easier to just eliminate them.I compared them to stereos because it’s easier to elminate
the buttons and put everything on the remote.I know, I still didn’t make sense, but you’re used to
that by now!!! icon_biggrin.gifJune 9, 2005 at 11:57 pm #12907GaribaldiKeymasterQuote:Quote:Quote:Yeah, that’s another thing that is gone from vehicles today.I think the reason is because it costs money to install
