They will only act when arresting criminals results in revenue. We have all heard that crime doesn’t pay? Well stopping crime doesn’t pay either. Our police have a hard job to do, that job isn’t upholding the law, it is being pulled in a million directions trying to collect money in a fashion dictated by the legislature. Let’s face it most traffic laws are not about safety, they are about revenue. If we took all of the money spent on State Highway Patrol and directed it towards fighting real criminals (drug dealers, thieves, general thugs) we could probably really make the world safer. But where will the funds to do this come from? The money comes from traffic tickets. It’s a catch 22. The police have to raise money by enforcing the laws that bring in revenue to fund the enforcing of the laws that endanger our safety, but they don’t have the resources to do both, more police means more needed revenue, so the revenue takes a precedence.
At least that is how I see it.
jonmandudeParticipantQSL is every week. This is once and only once.
jonmandudeParticipantGreat pics Ryan and thank you for sharing. I wish I could have done at least the first leg this year. It looks like great time.
jonmandudeParticipantNot only tactics in high speed pursuits, but tactics towards auto enthusiasts in general. I would love to see an effort of understanding the hobby and working with those of us that enjoy the hobby to weed out the bad eggs. To me the actions by police seem to be “nail everybody with a nice car for anything we can get them for and troublemakers will be stopped” with no regard for those of us that simply enjoy the hobby and cause no real trouble. I believe that most of us do not support unsafe street racing and support the police in enforcing this foolish activity. That is never in question. Why can’t the police work with us in the hobby rather than attack the hobby as a whole? This next weekend would be a good time to send an olive branch.

Specifically, is it liquid or gas in the bottle and when it is in injected (?) into an internal combustion motor, is it still liquid or gas. I assume that because of pressure and compression, that stainless steel braided lines are necessary?Marshall
I will try. Nitrous Oxide is a liquid that quickly converts to gas cooling as it does. It is injected into the intake. It can be injected into the air intake or with the gas into the intake manifold. On carberated cars it is often injected via a plate under the carb. What NOS does is cool the fuel air mixture allowing for more to be packed into the combustion chamber. More air/fuel means more power. It adds plenty of torque, but has some dangers as well. If the car is not pulling enough air/fuel the NOS can cause a backfire in the intake. That is why most NOS kits are set to operate only at WOT.
jonmandudeParticipantThe main thing at The Road Apples Tuesday night cruise in is good people. If you talk to anyone that attends there regularly, the main reason they keep coming back is the people. There is no egos, no brand snobbery, no attitude, just good people enjoying the hobby.
jonmandudeParticipantIdiots doesn’t cover it. They (both driver and passenger) should never be allowed near a car again.
Of subject a little, where would the harassment of people for their exhausts and tint change anything. This car seems showroom stock.
Additionally, in the article it talks about the growing number of high speed accidents and how enforcement is important. I honestly wonder how many of these accidents could be prevented with more intelligent enforcement. Harassing creates less respect for the police. Pursuing speeders just pushes the speeds higher in many of these incidents.
There has to be other options than high speed pursuits, and better preventative ways besides harassment. Maybe getting a license number and simply going to the persons’ house to wait for them? Maybe more strict penalties when caught speeding. It has been shown time and time again that suspending a license does nothing but create a situation where a person continues to drive and when caught runs.
I know that the police have a job to do and do it very well, but the tactics they use sometimes backfire with catastrophic results. There has to be a better way.
How about technology? Can we put chips in some of these newer cars that report this abuse of speed and shut the car down to wait for police?

Quote:Who knows, you may decide to become a car show organizer and do one of your own in the future! I would think that a judged import/tuner show would be a big hit in Madison!Marshall
I could help a little if you do. I would definitely be down for a show like that.
jonmandudeParticipantNot to mention that you are telling some potential customers “we don’t want you”..which is never a good business move
jonmandudeParticipantI wanted to go, but after getting home at 5:00am only a couple hours didn’t sound very appealing.

Other than that, it was running fantastically with 110k miles on it with no other major issues.
And fyi, it IS an American made car…20% Japanese parts, 70% US, and 10% Mexican…Engine assembly in Japan, Sub and Final assembly in Normal, IL.
110K? eh that’s nothin. Mine had 270K when I started working on it, that was 270k bone stock (except the trans which is a known problem). My old truck was 208K without any major work. My old winter beater 92 Maxima was 234K. And I cannot claim American, built in Osaka.

What happened to the Camaro? Man you go thru more cars than anyone else. It is hard to keep up.

LOL!! My 22 year old car is in better shape than both of your imports put together
And its got more than 50k on it too [/quote]
You still have the Camaro that Steve painted, right? I agree your 22 year old looks very nice indeed. But both my 19 year old, 280K import and your 22 year old beauty have been rebuilt.

jonmandudeParticipantprobably the Camaro would be a more collectible piece, if at all. History has shown us that outside of the Lowrider community, the Monte isn’t remembered for much. And a later (newer?) version was too mass-produced to be collectible.
