What’s the going rate for gas in your part of the world? Currently this is what I am seeing in the Houston area.

    87 octane – $2.09/gallon
    91 octane – $2.15/gallon
    93 octane – $2.22/gallon

I filled up last Thursday and it cost me $29.00 to fill up the tank in the Mustang, which is the highest I have ever paid. The way my motor has been tuned I have no choice but to use 93 octane. When I filled up that day there was a Hummer H2 behind me and I can tell from the owner’s face he was dreading the final tally. He filled up on 87 octane and when everything was said and done he had to fork over $50.00.

The sad thing was that he will probably have to fill up again in a couple of days.

Did anyone notice less trucks on the road with the slowdown because of the high price of diesel?

Here’s a very interesting article about why consumers aren’t more upset about the high gas prices:
    Source

    Quote:
The media reports the increases in the price of crude per barrel daily almost as if they are reporting the weather. Congress held a farce of an investigation that was largely ignored by the media and general public. Posts have been made here and many other places wondering why more isn’t being done. The comments received here indicate a partial desire by the public to defend the oil companies. These comments do not offer any definitive or credible reason for the surge in crude oil prices or for the increase in prices at the pump, but they seem to want to defend the fact that they are being forced to pay double the amount at the pump in a short amount of time in spite of the fact that this one commodity will affect the price of everything else they need to buy.

    Why?

One possible reason is that people don’t want to admit they have been duped. No one likes to feel as though they have been made a fool of and that is exactly what has happened.

The cost to retrieve oil has not doubled in the past 7 years. The cost to research alternative fuel sources has not doubled in the past 7 years. The cost to research and develop new sites to drill has not doubled in the past 7 years. Demand has not doubled in the past 7 years.

Oil companies have been posting huge profits for a loooooong time now….like the past few decades. The argument that they need those profits to “plan for a rainy day” fails in light of the fact that they have had many years of sunshine. What would happen if, like nearly every other company in the world, they posted a loss for one quarter or even an entire fiscal year? (Gasp!) Nothing. Nothing except the executives might not get their million dollar bonus checks and have to scrape by on $500,000 or so.

So, why don’t more people care? Partially, I feel the media is to blame for not making a bigger deal about this. They are content to make those who are upset by it look like tin-foil hat wearing eco-nazis who bike to work and drink soy milk. I am upset and I do not bike to work, drink soy milk or wear a tin foil hat. I have been screwed. I am mad as hell and I am not gonna take it anymore.

I am going to keep writing about this. I am going to send letters to every damn politician I can find. I am going to keep talking about this and encourage others to do the same. Our voice deserves to be heard!

The author of that article makes very good points. I do think the media needs to report the issues more and quit worrying about Britney Spears’ kids.

This guy who wrote this must drive a pickup truck everyday like me w00t.gif

Still 3.39 this morning on my way to work. That’s what most of the prices were in Madison last night when I was there.

Ok… what is the @#$* excuse now for the gas price changes? I see no reason for it to continue to jump a dime each time…. Clearly we are paying plenty! I heard on the radio this morning if you needed gas to get it TODAY otherwise you’ll be paying $3.50/gallon. I got it for $3.37 this afternoon which I thought was a bargain as I saw some places at $3.49. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, since this morning it went up to 3.47 crybaby2.gif Now in MH it’s only 3.43, but there is no excuse for this crap. They won’t be happy until they help kill the economy.

Gas prices are the same as my previous post, but racing fuel has hit a new high.

    Racing fuel – $6.50/gallon

Gotta get his pal’s rich one more time before he’s out of the oval office. I can’t believe congress doesn’t do anything about it…..oh wait, I forgot, I’m in the USA Drogar-Laugh(LBG).gif

Gas prices are killing the general public economy. Along with high interest rates because of scumbags not paying there credit card bills. Action needs to be taken, this is where I would give McCain credit for working with the other party to turn this country around.

With the way the weather sucks in Wisconsin you don’t have to worry about buying gas for your muscle car since there are so few good days to drive them.
