I’ll throw out the names of some movies where cars are important to the storyline.

Two-Lane Blacktop – ’55 Chevy vs 70 GTO Judge – Commentary on society during that time.

Vanishing Point – ’70 Dodge Challenger

    Bullitt – Charger vs Mustang

    Gone in 60 Seconds –

There were also some cool racing movies:

Grand Prix – James Garner – Garner raced and also owned a race team until costs got too high.

    LeMans – Steve McQueen

    Winning – Paul Newman

Another interesting movie was Duel. I believe it was Steven Spielberg’s 1st movie. It was between a ’71 Plymouth Valient and an intiimidating 18-wheeler.

Was Dennis Hopper the good guy in Duel?

    Carrie

Cannonball Run, The Semis’s were featured there, weren’t they?

My favorite movie, Christine, not my favorite car, a 1958 Plymouth Fury.

Dennis Weaver was the good guy in Duel. Christine was a great movie, the car from the movie (at least one of them) is at the Volo Auto Museum.

I am not sure if The Semi’s were in Cannonball Run, that was a good movie.

I love the chase in Bullitt. It is probably one of my favorite films.

It is such a great film! And the chase scene (IMO) is the best of all time.

I’ll add Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry and The French Connection.

Both great movies. The end of Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry was cool, so close to getting away. French Connection had some classic chases, I kind of felt sorry for the car that Hackman was driving.

Another movie was Ronin with Robert DeNiro.

    Thanks.

TV had to get involved with Autos also. Even commercials draw on the persona of the automobile mystique. The “Build it and he(Steve McQueen) will come” association where the guy makes a road course in a corn field. what kind of car are they selling?

Knight Rider — Firebird or Camaro faking it as a super car.

The Dukes of Hazzard — I wonder how many Chargers they destroyed jumping creeks or whatever.

    More contemporary film;
Bourne Identity — I think that is a Morris Minor that scoots through the alleys.

A recent movie was The Fast and the Furious. That had some great chase scenes in it and some nice scenery. An older movie which was interesting was The Car.

Of course there were the Smoky and the Bandit movies also.
