Mark, it’s always in the best interest of anyone attending shows not to have two shows on the same day minutes apart. I know Aaron’s show is specifically scheduled around Oregon’s Summerfest as there was originally a show held on that weekend in years past. Obviously Summerfest isn’t going to change their date, and I don’t think Aaron will either.
I agree, there are several weekends throughout the summer, if you look at the calendar it’s booked up with many events.
Hopefully both shows do well this year and in 2011 both groups can work together on a date that works for everyone.

circletrackParticipantRat rods, or vehicles of that type are very popular. We don’t see them as much around here (at least I don’t think so), but head down towards Illinois and Milwaukee and it’s nuts!
I know last year the Hunnert Car Pileup was turning away people very early!
Great pics Ryan, we have a few things up our sleeve for the Road Apples Car Show, not your normal plastic awards..
circletrackParticipantBigger tires!
Pro Street cars are often street legal race cars with an enhanced drivetrain. Most pro street cars feature a narrowed rear axle coupled with oversized rear wheels, they are typically “tubbed” or back halved to accomodate the big tires. They normally have bigger engines, and the like.
A street rod is an automobile of 1948 or earlier manufacture which has undergone some type of modernization, to include any of the following; engine, transmission, interior refinements, and any other modifications the builder desires. A street rod is to be driven to events under its own power and is to be used as a safe, non-racing vehicle for total family enjoyment.
There is a big difference between them…
Does that help?
circletrackParticipantAnother thing to remember.. the more classes.. the more awards and $$$ you will need. We’ve modeled our show after the Pardeeville Show and it worked well last year. You don’t want an overwhelming choice of classes, that will only cause confusion.
These are our classes:
A) Street Rod up to and including 1936
Street Rod 1937-1948
C) Stock 1900-1949
D) Stock 1950-1959
E) Stock 1960-1969
F) Stock 1970-1979
G) Stock 1980-present
H) Modified 1949-1959
I) Modified 1960-1969
J) Modified 1970-1979
K) Modified 1980-present
L) Survivor – 20 years and older
M) Muscle Cars (1964-1974)
N) Modern Muscle (82-present) (includes newer Mustang, Camaro, Charger, Challenger)
O) Special Interest (no late model muscle)
P) Sports Cars 1949-1970
Q) Sports Cars 1971-2000
R) British Sports Cars
S) Custom Cars (Lead Sleds, etc.)
T) Trucks & Vans (Modified) 1900-1960
U) Trucks & Vans (Modified) 1961-present
V) Trucks & Vans (Stock) 1900-1960
W) Trucks & Vans (Stock) 1961-present
X) Low Riders, Tuners
Y) Rat Rods up to and including 1954
Z) MotorcyclesWe talked about a trailered class, but that is very hard as people with trailers *tend* to park at the grocery store, a few blocks down ~ or wherever and drive the cars a short distance. I’ve seen this firsthand, and it’s rather insulting to owners like us who drive our cars during the week and to the shows, so you have to hope these people are honest if you don’t actually see the trailer pull in.
circletrackParticipantThere were my suggestions:
Modified from 1900 to 1950 would be most likely street rods as there aren’t that many modified cars around from that time period.
Stock 1951-1960
Stock 1961-1969
Stock 1970-1979
Stock 1980 to present. You also should only have 3 modifications for your stock class. I don’t necessarily consider paint to be a modification, but some shows do.
Your modified classes the same years. Have you considered a modern muscle class? That would include cars from 2000 to present like the Mustangs, Vipers, Challengers, Chargers & Camaros.
You need to make sure your special interest class does not allow these cars in, but also decide what Special Interest means to you.
Trucks 1900-1960
1961-1980 (modified or not)
1980-present (there are not a lot of these trucks around that enter shows)I’m not a fan of having special classes for only Mustangs, or whatever. It’s great to see so many cars at shows, but where do you draw the line for specific classes for Mustangs, Chevelles, Camaros… etc!
I guess it depends on what you get at your show.
Above all, have fun with this. I know you had some issues last year with the weather and such. Enjoy yourself, learn to lean on others for help and realize every show is not perfect!

circletrackParticipantMaybe they are taking it to share with friends??
circletrackParticipantMy car is still in storage, we’ll more than likely get it out this weekend… Hopefully the weather forecast changes, this rain on the weekends and sun Monday through Friday gets old!
circletrackParticipantDidn’t go this year, but know several that did… Friday was good, yesterday was nasty with all the rain we’ve received. We thought about heading down this morning, but decided not to.
It’s a shame this annual event has been plaqued with bad weather for years now.
circletrackParticipantNo Autozone near me… I didn’t want to spend time searching. The bottles were here in less than 3 days ~ I’m good!

Quote:Ryan- You were lucky to find it on the shelf, anywhere. I chased around Madison early last year looking for it, with no luck. I started ordering it from Summit Racing, and usually purchase several bottles with each order. I know other car owners from the shows who buy this product by the case!Rachael-You might like this Lucas Oil product, as it doesn’t leave any residual build-up and you can use it on chrome and hard plastic. As I recall, you can find the Wizard’s product at Automotion and at the Spring and Fall Jefferson shows. This product is not inexpensive, though. I does have a great smell, too.
I used the Simoniz Ice product one year and it works well, too.
Marshall ~ I took your advice and ordered some of the Lucas Oil Shine (I didn’t feel like searching Madison for it, did anyone try Farm & Fleet?)… The Chevelle is still in storage, I’m going to get it out next week and give it a good detailing, I’ll let you know what I think!
circletrackParticipantIf that’s the case, and people who were upset last year with the show and receive the flyer this year ~ I would expect them not to attend?
It’s expensive to print out flyers, but I would think they should be correct BEFORE they go to print, not after?
circletrackParticipantDude… I know that car!
circletrackParticipantYep, pretty good for me too!
circletrackParticipantBarry and his makeup…
