Eclipse_TunerParticipant
At the moment, mine is Zimbrick Nissan. bought 2 vehicles there and about to buy my third Nissan from them. Good sales staff and very good service staff. They are pretty good to negotiate with on price too.
Kearns is also pretty good.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantDont get me wrong, I dont have anything against QSL in general, just didnt like how I got treated in Middleton. Ive been to the QSL in Charlotte NC, one in Atlanta and one in Indy multiple times and had great service. Just that the Middleton facility was sour.
I do agree that the Losers Car Club puts together great events, and is made up of really really nice people.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantIm with Moparkid on this one. I used to like QSL in Middleton when it first opened….but the food quickly became overpriced, the service usually was terrible and they started to suffer from the “Middleton Mentality” (aka, snobish attitudes).
After being turned away from a cruise in because of my car, I havent been back since.
Hopefully the new one is better.
And yes, Tallards was a cool place.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantWell, if my Eclipse sells, it will be a whole new project (Nissan 370Z)…first on the list is a supercharger.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI was debating getting one or the other for commuting. After test driving both, I’d opt for the Nissan Leaf (the Zimbrick dealership had an early demo/publicity model). The Volt is a little bit bigger, but its build quality was not as well done as the Nissan. The biggest thing is how you plan to use the car. If you plan on extended drives for vacation and such, then the Volt might be a better pick. But for just commuting, then I preferred the Leaf.
In terms of drivability and feel, the Nissan was more responsive and nimble. The Volt handled almost identically to the Malibu.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantFavorite Show – Swan City Car show, and the Armory Show
Least Favorite Show – FOX LAKE. I think we all saw Tony and his friends’ true colors after we rated the show.
Most annoying trend at this year’s shows – Vote buying, and late model Mustang snobbery (some owners were cool…others, not so much).
Biggest disappointment this year – The rain. And the inability of a few show organizers to take constructive critisism.
Best new trend at shows – Earlier award times.
Did you attend as many shows as the previous year? – About the same, maybe one or two less.
Will you attend more or less shows next year? – Probably about the same amount.
Would you rather attend a cruise-in or a car show? – Either is fun.
What are your overall impressions of this year’s shows? Some organizers really understand today’s car culture, and some have their head in the sand. Modern car culture has become very dynamic, where the younger generations are taking it just as seriously as the older crowd. Mike from Krystal Images (also runs the Ashippun Show) did a great job embracing that mentality at his show. I recommend all organizers to take heed of how he goes out of his way to include all car genres.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI do it as a hobby and also for customers.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThanks for the feedback.
As for selling online…Ive done that a few times at sites like Etsy, but it is soooooo hard to get enough traffic to actually sell a piece. So a lot of what I do sell is actually comissioned works.
Usually reflections are a nightmare to do, but in the case of Marshall’s Mustang, I had a really really good photo to work from.
Ill add more works to the gallery this week.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI think we are done for the year too. Summer went too fast lol. We might show at WoW in Feb if I still have my Eclipse (up for sale to start a new project).
Eclipse_TunerParticipantWe’ll be heading to Mayville on Sat. Last car show of the season for us. Summer went way too fast.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantIm going to Jesus built my hotrod on saturday too. Never been there before.
We went to Taste of Portage last year, that was a nice show, cool setting.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI agree with Marshall. Ive always said its a nice show with a huge assortment of vehicles. All I was doing was calling out the issues so that they can be addressed, simple as that.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantLol, the alchohal is still there, but a bit more restrained. It was a fun show, and the quality of cars was amazing.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantWow, simply wow…. The only point I was trying to make was that judging was botched in a few classes. As I said before, other classes were spot on, but 2 in particular were seriously flawed.
I’ve been a judge at enough shows to see when things go wrong, and I was simply calling it out. And I brought it up as constructive critisism.
What I find funny and a bit disturbing is that has become an issue of “kill the messenger”. Yes, I won in my class last year, and brought up issues with the show. And this year, I brought up another issue…and now people are all bent out of shape.
Each time I brought up issues as constructive critisism. Tony and I talked on the phone last Monday and we shared our point of views. I thought everything was hashed over then…apparently not.
Let me be perfecty clear, Im a designer…formally trained as an automotive designer…my career is based on constructive critcism,I have to give and take it daily. So if I see something off or wrong, Ill bring it up.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI got to test drive a Leaf…it is an impressive little car. The Volt is going to suffer from a huge price tag and design bastardization. The original concept was slick, but now its basically an electric Malibu.
