I paid $2.79 for 93 octane a few days ago
jonmandudeParticipantAt least no one was hurt. This is what happens when stupid and too much money come together. It was cold, light dusting on the road, not very experienced driver…..bad combo
Madison’s first Hellcat is safe and sound in a garage
jonmandudeParticipantIt’s like anything else in this world. If someone does something and is successful, everyone else copies.
I do think that the over-saturation of auctions is a good thing for the hobby. The prices were getting astronomical and now they seem to be coming back down to realistic
jonmandudeParticipant“I saw one sell on that Barrett- Jackson TV show…..”
jonmandudeParticipantThat GTO looks like a good deal….the Cuda…Dreaming if he thinks he’s getting $34K
jonmandudeParticipantRegal Roadsters
Yeah, That’s right. I was drawing a blank. RT didn’t sound right but I knew it was an “R” something
jonmandudeParticipantRT Classics? Is that the place off of the Beltline and Rimrock Rd?
If so, They do mostly 5.0 swaps into classic T-birds. Their work is top-notch. I have been in their shop once or twice and seen some other niiiice cars. There was a Duece in their last time I was their
jonmandudeParticipantI missed a few shows I would have liked to go to (Pardeeville, Belvedere, Juneau) and went to a couple that I will not return to. I ventured to a small town show in Neillsville, WI that was ….interesting. I think my favorite for this year was the Road Apple Show in Sun Prairie. I was very impressed. Spring Green was nice, as usual. Weather hurt Beaver Dam.
I think I will do like Zac mentioned and venture farther too, but less for shows, more just to drive. I am starting to think road trips to more scenic places could be fun. In two weeks is a show in Hopkinton, IA that looks promising.
jonmandudeParticipantMotor Trend took one to UTI and used the dyno. It dyno’d at close to 780bhp.
jonmandudeParticipant’twas a nice day for the drive. A bit brisk in the morning, and maybe a slight chill when the sun was hiding, but overall, nice. Some nice cars, some great conversation. With season coming nearer to ending, I am trying to enjoy these days while they are here. Soon comes the most expensive season for me….storage….or as I like to call it…parts season
jonmandudeParticipantI arrived at 8:55 and there was a handful of spaces left. I was told people started arriving at 6:30 to get parking……seriously? lighten up people.
But I really like the Parks family (including employees). This is a nice event and always draws some very very amazing cars. They do a good job of trying not to park too many in. I was able to leave a little after 12:30
jonmandudeParticipantSaturday there is also a show at the Merit Center in Monroe, WI. I think the fire department is putting it on
jonmandudeParticipantI really wanted to go to this tonight, but got delayed in Rockford and didn’t get back until almost 7
jonmandudeParticipantMopars On The Mississippi is Sunday in Dubuque too
jonmandudeParticipantSorry that older gentleman made such a terrible impression.
Those people amaze me. he comes “to town once a year” and expects the town to convenience him? So what they should do nothing the other 364 days so it is all ready for him? That is outrageous. And to think the shop owners wouldn’t see this as an opportunity to profit also comes across as short-sighted.
I have been a defender of new cars being included, more than most, but I do understand the argument against them too. After seeing stock 1 year old Shelby after 1 year old Shelby after 1 year old Shelby after bone stock Camaro, It is hard to get excited about them. Across from me was a 2014 Challenger that still smelled new. But “hard to get excited” is the best I can get. The owners have the same love and passion for their cars as the rest of us. Their money is just as good as ours. And considering how many of the older cars were also purchased and not built by their owners, they have just as much right. I just walk on by the cars that don’t impress me.
I actually laugh at the newer car owners that bought them as “an investment”. They spent $40k, $50k, even $60k or more on a car they don’t drive, don’t enjoy and just look at. Seems like a waste.
I spoke a guy at a show in Neillsville, WI recently. He said he tries to drive his car sparingly to keep the mileage down because it will be valuable one day. I said “Get out and drive it. Maybe some day it will be worth something, maybe not. Enjoy it now. Remember nobody cares how many miles are on a Plymouth Superbird. 5 miles or 500,000 it is still worth the same amount. The difference is the one with miles has been enjoyed. If you aren’t going to drive it, buy a picture. It will be the same fun.”
Then I added “No one will remember the car show you trailered your car to, but you will always remember that epic burnout in front of the police station”
