Zac – any chance you can hand out some flyers for the Road Apples show? I’ve been handing them out when I can and could use some help. Thanks!

If you can get them to Mt. Horeb before Saturday, I will hand them out. I will be going to Madison today and can pick them up if you have some at the office. I’ll call you in a bit.

This is a good show, my only suggestion is that they either start a modern muscle class and/or add another Mustang class from 2000-present.

Early on I was considering the Gilbert Brown show in Montello as I have a grad party in Portage to attend later that day, but now plans have changed and I think I will visit Monroe instead. I like that show, and finally received a flyer this last week for it.

Depending on Sunday, if weather is decent, I may visit Durand, IL on Sunday.

There is an ongoing discussion on the Pro-Touring.com forum regarding the GoodGuys organization hosting one of their national shows in Oshkosh, WI the first weekend in June, 2014. Presumably, this show would replace the show previously held in Joliet, IL that went away, which replaced the show in Madison, which went away after two years. Reportedly, GoodGuys left Madison after two years because the spectator numbers and car numbers were too low, in addition to high fees and costs to GoodGuys, imposed by Madison and the Alliant Energy Center.

I went one year as a specator to the GG show when it was in Madison, it was ridiculously expensive. If you go thru the archives on this forum, you can probably find the thread where the Wisconsin GG rep has a temper tantrum because many people were concerned with the costs.

We arrived at 6:45 Sat, there were two lanes entering the park. However the right lane had to wait for a parking lot to empty out before they could proceed. Good thing I was in the left lane. They did do a great job getting the cars in, however they still need to work on their parking cars skills. If the Dells allows this show back next year I will be surprised. Not because of the Automotion participants, but the tuners and diesel trucks feeling a need to show off all night. Sad to see the death of the show for the idiots on the street at night, but I feel the Dells would not want to put up with that crap again. There were some brain surgeons that thought it would be funny to throw a wooden picnic table out in the road. Thus it was taken out by a car….my 2 cents..;-)

Here is a sign of my age becoming a factor in my opinions:

I still remember 2006 Automotion. By far the best weekend I have ever had up there (sharing a motel room with the Racestopper Girls does come in at an erotic 2nd place though). That was the year cars cruised until the law shut the street down. We also partied like rock stars. Yes, there were burnouts and boobs being flashed, but no one got in a fight and no one got hurt. I really thought that would be the end, but it wasnt. The police presence was enforced, and people had to start behaving. Edge O The Dells started a burnout pit to keep that entertainment out of town. The last few years hadnt been much fun.

Fast forward seven years. I am now a grown man in my early 30s, and didnt attend the Dells this year because of a diffucult and unhappy time last year. Im all for burnouts, cruising, and having a few drinks during a hotel room party, but when people do not pick up after themselves and make the boulevard look like a landfill that upsets me. Who thought it was a goood idea to toss a table in the road?! Dumb drunk kids who cant handle there liquor. Then you add in all the fights that took place, and the city will shut it down. Others will pay the price for the actions of stupid, immature kids.

    Yes, I just said that.

This show is put on by AVE, American Van Enthusiasts. There was also a display of custom vans, and one custom Semi, which you don’t see at every show. They did have a muffler wrap competition, which I did not partake in because I don’t believe it to be good practice to keep revving the life out of any engine. Door prizes were also given out thru the day, along with a 50/50 raffle – of which I won neither.

I received a flyer for a car show in Muscoda on Saturday. It’s held in conjunction with the Muscoda Morel Mushroom Festival. The show is from 11a-2p, with trophies and cash prizes. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Special Olympics of Wisconsin. The show is located at the bus parking lot on Main Street. $8 donation to enter a vehicle. Some of the awards include a Best of show car and truck, Best Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Motorcycle, etc. The show also has a muffler wrap competition, 50/50 raffle, prize raffles, and a DJ.

I just thought I would share this info. I’m thinking about taking a ride up there since I’m not attending the Dells, and wont be banging my head (’cause Metal Health will drive you mad) Friday night in Milwaukee.

I am taking a year off from the Dells. The last two years I havent really enjoyed my time up there, and I have enjoyed not being part of the rush this year so far. Plus, I am planning on going to Rooterpalooza in Waukesha Friday night, and if the forecast changes I may take a ride up to Muscoda Saturday am before my cousins college graduation party that evening.
