MVRegistrationRightsParticipant
Gov. Walker signed this into law yesterday. Tom and I attended.
Many thanks to Sen. Glenn Grothman and Assy. Rep. Steve Kestell for sponsoring this bill.
Thanks also to those of you who helped push for passage.MVRegistrationRightsParticipantThis was passed today by the full Wis. Assembly!
Now it just needs Gov. Walker’s signature to become law.
Time to celebrate! Thanks to everybody who supported this effort!
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantLordarigtar,
On behalf of Tom and myself, thanks for your support of our efforts. There is simply no way we could have gotten to this point without the help of folks like you. Every person matters.
To Everyone,
This is the last step in the Legislature, and then we just need Gov. Walker to sign it into law.
For anyone who hasn’t yet called their Assembly Representative, here is a link to find out how to contact them. Cal ’em today. Tell them to vote In Favor of SB-110 on Tuesday Oct. 15.
A new year is coming up, and that means a whole new model-year of vehicles become eligible for Collector plates. Do your part to make sure they don’t get denied over non-original parts or hub-caps.
Call your Assembly Representative today!
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantThis bill is scheduled for a vote before the Assembly next Tuesday, Oct. 15!
After that, it just needs Gov. Walker’s signature to enact it.
Call your Assy. Rep. and urge them to vote In Favor!
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantToday the bill was passed by vote of the full Wisconsin Senate!!
All that remains is passage of the bill by the full state Assembly, and then Gov. Walker’s signature on the bill, before it becomes state law.
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantThis bill is scheduled for a vote in the full Wisconsin Senate on Tuesday 9/17!
Updates to follow…
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantToday, the Senate Transportation Committee voted 5-0 In Favor of our bill.
This means we have gotten the unanimous approval of the Transportation Committees in both houses, the Senate and the Assembly. The next step is a floor vote before the full Senate and the full Assembly. If they both pass our bill, then we just need the Governor to sign it.The legislature will be convening for full sessions beginning Sept. 17th. Our bill will be heard by each house sometime after that.
Stay tuned.
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantGreat News just in today:
Our bill will be voted on by the Senate Transportation Committee on Thursday, Sept. 5!!
This will allow it to move toward a vote in the full Senate.
:woohoo: :silly:
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantWith the completion of the state budget, our bill is once again moving forward.
This afternoon, the Assembly Transportation Committee voted unanimously for passage of this bill.
THIS IS A HUGE VICTORY, BUT THE FIGHT IS NOT YET OVER.
The bill now moves to the full Assembly for a vote. We also need to secure passage in the Senate, and we’re working on that.
Stay tuned for future actions and updates.
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantBasically, it’s a historically accurate license plate for your state for the year that your car was built. Here’s a link to a company that sells exactly such plates: http://www.turnerplates.com/YOM%20Index.html
As their site indicates, and as a Google search reveals, many states permit vehicles to display such an identifying plate, in most cases some registration papers or normal license plate must be contained within the vehicle too.
There are some owners who are interested in seeing such a law implemented in Wis., and I’m just curious how people on this forum feel about it.
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantHere’s a link to the actual bill: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2013/related/proposals/sb204
It’s long, but it appears to do what it says it does. It’s currently before the Senate Transportation Committee. So far, no evidence of a companion bill in the Assembly.
Maddog’s right, if you support this bill, then you should be speaking out about it.
While we’re on the subject of Wisconsin license plates, who here would support (or oppose) the idea of Year Of Manufacture (YOM) license plates? Currently some other states allow them, but not here. I’m just curious what owners think.
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantUpdate: The Assembly Public Hearing was held on May 21. Only Tom and myself testified InFavor of the bill. Nobody testified against it. Currently, we’re awaiting an Executive Session and a vote on the bill by the Assembly. Typically, this takes about one month.
We’re very pleased and optimistic about passage of the bill. Please stay tuned for progress…
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantAssembly Hearing Tomorrow! See you there…
MVRegistrationRightsParticipantThis legislation continues to move forward. We have now secured a Public Hearing for the bill before the Assembly Transportation Committee. It will be held on Tues. May 21, 2013 at 1pm in Rm. 417N at the State Capitol.
The bill is identified in the Assembly as AB-157. (The companion bill in the Senate is SB-110.)
See you there.
