Eclipse_TunerParticipant
I can confirm that there will be a benefit show for Belinda sometime later this summer. She wasnt feeling well at Jim’s benefit, and has recently been admitted to the Mayo Clinic.
She’s done a lot for the local car community and the WLC group, so I hope we can return the favor.
When I have more concrete details, I will start a thread, etc.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThanks Ryan.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantLol, sounds like Ill have to get some more artwork together for it then. Let me know the details when you get them.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThats the way cruisins are supposed to be.
Unfortunatly it looks like I wont have my engine back together until Sunday…so Ill miss out on yet another weekend of automotive fun. On the plus side, the rebuild is going well, just finished porting and polishing the heads. Now I have to reassemble them with new valves, seals, etc.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantAnd yes, since the nitrous system is pressurized, braided lines and AN fittings are necessary. Most systems also have a time limiter switch that kills after 10 seconds or so, as sustained use of Nitrous can overheat engine components since more A/F is being burned.
And yes, those kids are retarded and should be locked up, and never touch a car again.
I also agree that law enforcement should look into other tactics/means of high speed deterants.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThanks for the kudos. My wife and I had a lot of fun.
The show did suffer from last minute advertising, but at least we were able to raise some money and help out a bit.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantQuote:I’m just ribbin’ ya, don’t take it so personalI know, its all good. I was just merely stating lol.
On the plus side, with the motor being strewn across my garage, it gives me a bit of time to do the airbrushing and paint work Ive been meaning to do.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantLOL
The only reason mine isnt running is because I didnt notice that a bolt boss dropped into the timing belt area, causing a bit of valve destruction.
Other than that, it was running fantastically with 110k miles on it with no other major issues.
And fyi, it IS an American made car…20% Japanese parts, 70% US, and 10% Mexican…Engine assembly in Japan, Sub and Final assembly in Normal, IL.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantSigh…unfortunatly none for me this week or weekend. Still waiting for new valves to show up so I can put things back together.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThe benefit was pretty good. I honestly dont know the total that was raised. The turnout was a little low, but it seemed like those that attended had fun.
There was tons of items on auction, a live band, etc. It was a fun day. Thanks to all that came and donated.
And congrats to Marshall on receiving the Best of Show award.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantjonmandude, Its all good, I had just gotten off the phone with AAA to get a flatbed out. Snapped a brand new timing belt and ruined all the head and valve work I did on it over winter. My goal now is to have it done in time for the Swan City Park car show.
BTW, nice Skyline GTR tails.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantYeah, he does some really cool stuff….hell of a pinstriper.
jonmandude, I saw you drive by me on 151 on Sunday right after my timing belt let go lol. I was like “hey I know that car….”
Eclipse_TunerParticipantYep, Ill be there. Donated about a dozen artworks for the auction, and a few other things.
It sounds like theres going to be some pretty cool stuff there that day.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantQuote:Not to get off subject, but why did you allow them to search your vehicle? It’s perfectly legal to tell them to get a warrant first. Having an officer search under the seats, in the glovebox, in the trunk, etc. is one thing, but when they tear the panels and seats and such out of your car and you allow that to happen, no offense but thats stupidity on your part – especially if they have no probable cause.Trust me, I filed a complaint as soon as I got home. But yeah, it was a total case of circumstance in that I was in the wrong place on the wrong night and they basically wanted to send a message. I decided to suck it up and let them do it in order to let them waste their time and for me to not get any more tickets than needed…cuz had I said no, then they probably would have written me up for everything they possibly could.
Regardless, the “anti-cruising campaign” is sheer stupidity. The billboards they had up last year really showed their mentality. I try to give them respect and the benefit of doubt because my sister is a cop (not in Madison)…but Madison cops are so backwards and narrow minded, they give me no reason to respect them.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantIm all for action.
Yes the import crowd has gotten a bad rap…mainly for a lot of young kids being incredibly stupid. However it has stereotyped the group as a whole and the madison cops are on that bandwagon. And that makes it incredibly frustrating for the younger car crowd to have any incentive to get involved in the scene.
I mean, why would kids want to be involved in a scene where a pair of cops tear apart an interior that took 2 weeks to fabricate and cost a couple grand?..all without any real reason (i dont do or transport drugs, so there would be no reason for suspicion).
Madison has this self-righteous mentality that it is the world’s Pleasantville…when in fact is is far from it. Yes, there are some liberal trends that are due to it being a major college town…but the government here is anything but liberal. If it upsets the “established order” it is deemed bad…which is exactly what they are doing with the anti-cruising campaign.
