I try to hold off as long as I can. Usually that is the first couple of weeks of November. The car has seat heaters and heated mirrors. It seems a waste not to use them for a little bit
jonmandudeParticipantThe rule I have understood is that “Modified” is quantified as
1) Physically altered in a way that appears other than factory. Paint, rims, decals, tint, or suspension modifications do not qualify as “modified” as they do not truly alter the appearance. Creating a “clone” of another car similar to yours is “modified”
2) Performance improvement by swapping a driveline other than what was available from factory. If you put a 427 in a ’65 Chevy Nova, that is modified, even if it is a date code block, this was not available in this car. Power adders, like supercharging or turbo (if not offered stock) are “modified”. While at “Mopars on the Mississippi” this year I asked them what class they want me in (always a good idea if you are unsure) and they said “if you haven’t changed anything inside the engine, or repainted the car in a non-stock color, you are stock”
Technically, my car can be in either stock or modified class, because it is the stock engine and exterior. Any of you who know my car, know that there is over 40 small changes that I have made.
As I stated above, if you are unsure of how you should be classed…..ask the organizers. It is their show and they choose the standards of what each class is.

jonmandudeParticipantRaising the minimum wage will only help widen that gap. I wonder how anyone can consider raising the MW and having it help. Can’t people understand that it is called “minimum wage” not living wage or good wage..minimum. As in the minimum an employer can pay. It is not supposed to be a goal in life to be minimum. We are all supposed to better ourselves, get an education or learn a trade, or something to improve our place in life.
Can’t people see that as the minimum wage increases so does the cost to produce EVERYTHING and then the cost of everything also increases to compensate? Any increase in wage will only be absorbed so that no matter how much the minimum wage is increased to, it will never be a living wage. What is worse, as the minimum wage increases, and the cost of doing business also increases, those of us who are above minimum wage do not see increases…and with the cost of everything going up, we all actually seemingly make less. This drives the middle class into the poverty class, further widening the wealth gap. Don’t they see that even if they increased the minimum wage to $100,000.00/year, the poverty level will be just above that, but in doing so they will absorb all of those income brackets ?
jonmandudeParticipantZac, I agree with most of what you said. Healthcare is not a privilege or a right, it is what a civilized society has. Without healthcare sickness can turn into epidemics which can turn into plagues.
I wouldn’t say health care providers rape insurance companies. I would say providers AND insurance companies are getting rich off of all of us. So are doctors and pharmaceutical companies.
When I lived in Texas it was common knowledge that most prescription medication could be purchased for a small percentage of what is charged in the US just by crossing into Tijuana.
I have met doctors from other countries that are appalled by doctors here for their priorities. In other countries you become a doctor because you have a talent that can be used to help others, you make a decent living but you do not get rich bilking others. Here people become doctors to get rich. Let’s be honest, why do parents want their children to become doctors (or lawyers) ? because they get paid well, not because they can do good.
The ethics of being a human being and having a goal to contribute to the greater good of mankind is gone. Everything is about money. Too often we judge success by money not by the quality of the person.
That is what needs to be addressed in this country before we can worry about forcing inadequate healthcare on people who can’t afford 3 square meals and a nice roof over their heads
jonmandudeParticipantI have said for many many years, Our representatives (the people that represent the people) should be paid what the average American citizen gets paid. They should receive the same benefits and retirement as the average American citizen. Everything about their job should reflect the average American.
If the average American citizen refused to perform the duties they were employed to perform, and the business had to close it’s doors, even for a few hours, that person would be unemployed.
jonmandudeParticipantThe ebay posting should say
“I paid too much….and now you can too”jonmandudeParticipantI saw that too. It is a nice story
jonmandudeParticipantIt’s off to Austin (COTA) for me this weekend. Ten days of sweatin’ in Texas
jonmandudeParticipantHere is a bargain for someone

Or does someone have an extra $850 for me?
jonmandudeParticipantIf memory serves me correctly (and it often doesn’t), It was a nice show…for charity. I cannot recall dash plaques, but they did have a few trophies. I think they judged and picked out their top choices.
All that doesn’t matter much. It was a really nice show, probably 100+ cars
jonmandudeParticipantNice, Very surprised that I didn’t see that at the DBQ show.
jonmandudeParticipantWould like to go to Concours on the Green this weekend…I will be travelling
jonmandudeParticipantThanks for the kind words Ryan. It was our first show and didn’t happen without a HUGE amount of headache/long hours/effort. My only hope was that all who attended left happy and got a new experience, since many have never been to our shop…or (in many cases) didn’t even know we existed. I hope no one was bothered by the early trophy presentation. We have to load the trucks up tonight for Baltimore.
We kept the classes small-ish and tried to keep it simple for a first year show. We had no idea what kind of turnout would happen (with so many other shows this weekend) so I explained to the bossman “be happy with 50, be extremely pleased with 100”.
I was personally amazed at the amount of foot traffic.
For trophies, we really wanted to try to be different. The bossman wanted to make the best of show trophies something unique, and he and I spent a few hours working on them. The BofS car/truck trophy was probably worth about $5K in parts.
Oh yeah and that wing came off of Scott Tucker’s Mazda Lites car. He hit the wall in turn 5 at Road America and turned that $40K wing into a nice piece of man-cave art.
Again, thank you for the nice words and thank you for coming.
I would also like to say a huge thank you for all who attended. We raised some good money for TraJa.
jonmandudeParticipantAlready been said what a nice day and enjoyable show this was.
I took the time to thank a few of the nice folks working this event and compliment them on the fine job they did.
If I may take this moment to tell the two jagoffs at the show to get over themselves. I saw one jerkoff yelling (yes yelling) at the folks who told him where to park. Apparently he thought he was too important to park anywhere but the center of the show. I am sure we all saw the rat rod, twin-turbo pick-up near registration.
And also to the doucher in the V8 powered Mini Cooper. While receiving fliers, he would say “no thank you” and then continue on with smart ass comments. I let him know what I thought of his comments. A simple “no thank you” is sufficient, there is no need to be an ass.
