See You Down The Road

After many years serving the classic car community, Wisconsin Collector Car will be shutting down at the end of 2024. Thank you for all of the car show memories!

I was at the Belvidere show as well. The judging there is, has been, and probably always will be a “friends and club members first” deal. You expect that going in. No one noticed but the first place LY Challenger wasn’t even there. I found it funny. Like any show, it is their show, they can do as they wish. I go to enjoy some of the Chicago based Hemi cars that I never see around here.

I remember both the Daytona and the ‘vert taht you are talking about. No offense, but I would have trophied the Daytona above the ‘vert too. It is very clean and much better kept then the ‘vert.

I am with MoparKid on this too. The 50’s era songs are played out. They were played at car shows in the 70’s and 80’s and 90’s and still….enough already. Most of the car show crowd is now born in the 60’s and 70’s…a few from the 80’s. So music from our teens fits well. Also some newer top 40 radio is acceptable too. Some upbeat country too. Mix it up. No slow dance songs or wedding favorites please.

Working in clubs for years, I saw first hand how too much of the same thing, even if it is your favorite genre, gets very old, very quickly.

My two cents…I think our government and MLB is being extremely hypocritical with this steroid thing.

Every single damn politician has done much worse, and would easily do much worse, to get where they are.

MLB has made millions, if not billions, off of these players. And the fans have shelled out that money to see these guys hit home runs. Bonds, McGuire, Sosa, and Braun all got contracts because they were hitting home runs and putting fans in the seats.

Who loses from these guys taking ‘roids? Only the player later in life when the health problems happen.

Who loses from making such a big deal of it, wasting our tax-payer money pursuing it, and making examples of these player? All of us. Baseball, “The Great AMERICAN Pasttime” is now seen as a game full of liars and cheats, paid for by fools.

Definitely spotted one of “the five” today at Balweg in Sauk……the guy with the 500 things to set up around the vehicle.

I like the idea, the originality, and the effort……but I am not feeling the results

So sorry that I did not make the show. I himmed and hawwed all morning watching the rain come and go…and then I was just unsure if the show was on or not. I did not have it in me to drive out in the rain and discover the show was not on. I should have.

I am glad that the show was (what I would call) a success (considering the weather).

I almost came out, wasn’t sure if y’all would still be on with the never ending rain.

We should start listing if shows are weather conditional.

It would be a nice tool for people wondering if shows have alternative dates or are “rain or shine”. I am sure many are like me and look here to see what shows are happeneing, but then if the weather turns “iffy” wonder if the show is still going on.

    just a thought

Hopefully the judges can tally up the score sheets a little better than last year.

Is this really a good idea to call out judges before a show?
