So another year of Automation and another year of problems in the Dells, huh?

Maybe it’s time to realize that year restrictions are a bad idea?

By restricting who is and isn’t allowed in, you are telling people they are not welcome. This causes a rebellious attitude in those that want to be involved but are not. They are finding ways to be involved, and not good ways. By starting to create their own events, like the burnout contests at Edge o the Dells, and doing them in relative proximity to the Automation show, they are saying “Hey! We want to be involved too!”, but by being rejected, they are acting out.

It’s time for the old timers to stop telling kids to stay away and start bringing them in so they are included and can learn how to do it correctly.

As Automation has grown, so has the problems. You can blame the ” kids in their rice burners” all you want. Maybe if they had been included from day one, the other “events” would not have been created.

…and the tuner crowd will say “they just don’t like us”. They will not accept that maybe, just maybe, if they would learn to act in a way that commanded respect, then maybe they would be given respect….but act like disrespectful morons and ruin it for everyone

Are you planning on giving yours the “donk” treatment?

I think the best comment I got Sunday about the new cutouts was from a Porsche guy.

I was showing someone my cut-outs and he said “Was that you I heard? I was back a ways in line and I heard something idling and thought ‘that sounds good'”

Baseline on a Hellcat is just under $60K. Most are getting them for around $65K unless they are paying stupid “Market Adjustments”.

I do not know how they picked. I think there was sponsor picks and then “Top 30” ….which Circletrack was deservedly one of.

Emailed the people who put on this show with my “observations”. I expressed the tight way they packed the cars together, while large areas were wide open along the outside. I commented on how parking the cars this way meant visitors and their children were walking between cars to see other cars. I suggested putting the vendors along the outer edges and more space could be placed between cars.

I also shared the feeling that every person I spoke with did not like…..having to pay for parking after we already paid a stupid amount to display in this show.

Basically they told me they didn’t care.

The parking and wide open edges they said

“Each car was given a 10’x20′ space and people were allowed to put up barriers. The open spaces along the edges were because of fire codes”…..really? So you can’t space people out just a little more and you have to leave wide open unused area because of fire codes….but it is ok for people to put their chairs up and sit in those areas? Bullshit

And the parking and stupid entrance fee

“Our fees are less than any other indoor show of this type” and “the parking fees are expected at any event like this”

What this tells me is this show can kiss my ass. It is a money grab, nothing more. They think $40 to show your car in tight space is a bargain. And they see nothing wrong with charging people who are showing their car an additional parking fee each day, including just to load out.

As much as it would be nice to have a QUALITY show at the AEC, this show can die for all I care

I think I could spend a month non-stop and still find something on that car.

That 59 Impala is pretty spectacular too

Hate to say it, but maybe 76% of the cars are the same ones you see locally. I got a call last night that someone backed out and the spot is paid for. I was asked if I wanted it. I figure..what the heck, could be a hoot to be in an indoor show

I am guessing that too many Hellcats effect the emission standards. The standards are set with an average EPA rating across the board. They have to balance between the cars to achieve a goal of (x many) MPGs. The Hellcat doesn’t get great gas mileage and too many of them brings the average MPG down……just a guess

Sales will tell if that is accurate. Wasn’t the long warranty a result of losing sales to others who had long warranties? Time will tell.

Honestly, my guess is that warranties are eating them alive. Talk to any tech and they hate warranty work. You make little to no money and sometimes even lose money. For the manufacturers, people are keeping their cars longer and getting them fixed for free. It’s a no win

Here are my thoughts on this. And I won’t hold back

They always say “he was a good kid who was turning his life around”…Bullshit. He was arrested for an ARMED home invasion and burglery. ARMED! And he plead guilty. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison and was given a suspended sentence. Gee, if the law is so hard on black people and “whitey” always gets breaks, it sure does seem like this kid got a break.

Now the reports I have read..He was running between cars on Williamson St and tried to choke two of his friends, which is why the police were called. He then went into an apartment where (from what I have read) he was trying to strangle his girlfriend when the police arrived. The officer kicked in the door when he heard a struggle inside. Once inside the boy punched the cop in the head and knocked him to the ground. Then the officer fired his weapon striking the young man 5 times.

Now that does not sound like a “good kid who was turning his life around” that sounds like a punk headed for trouble.

The initial radio calls said the “no weapon has been spotted”….now this DOES NOT MEAN UNARMED!! This simply means that when the police were called, they asked if he had a weapon and were told “didn’t see one”.

This young man has a record for using a weapon in his class C felony and the call reported violent and erratic behavior (running between cars and choking his friends). As for the whole unarmed thing..Once he was inside he was “armed” in my book. There are any number of weapons inside every single residence on this planet. Do you have knives? Yep weapon. A lamp can be used as a blunt object to hit someone with, or a book, or a shoe, or any number of objects. Just because the initial call said a weapon was not seen, does not mean he didn’t have one.

Now for the 5 shots fired. Look this isn’t TV land. Police DO NOT shoot once and wait for you to stop. They are not crack marksmen who shoot the gun out of your hand. They are trained that when they are threatened they use deadly force and do not stop using that force until the threat is stopped.

I went thru some of training that police go thru when I was trained as a bouncer years ago. The reasoning that is taught is, that anyone who is willing to strike at a police person is a threat to everyone. If they do not respect the badge, they do not respect anyone. If they are a threat to you, they are willing to hurt anyone without pause. Your duty is to stop them before they hurt someone else….and this kid had already tried hurting other people that night.

Notice how I haven’t mentioned race? Because race is not a factor here. The color of this young man’s skin DID NOT make him do these things, and the color of this police officer DID NOT make him react the way he was trained.

In 10 years of bouncing at nghtclubs in LA, Dallas, Minneapolis, and here, I have asked countless people to leave when they were acting in a manner that was unacceptable. Never once did the skin color make them act that way. And every single time that the person was black, they accused me of being racist and said it was because of color.

And for “white privilege” that these clowns spout off. All successful people have one thing in common, and it isn’t race. They all worked hard and did not accept excuses. Racism and “white privilege” are excuses. Whatever happens to you is from your choices, actions, and attitude, nothing more. If you are failing at life, you are choosing to. Nobody is holding you back.
