See You Down The Road

After many years serving the classic car community, Wisconsin Collector Car will be shutting down at the end of 2024. Thank you for all of the car show memories!

I would have demanded the picture taker delete those shots pull the film out immediately or I would smash his camera. Police also would have been summoned. Because he wants to know where it is??? Was he a spy, car thief, or worse??

Thanks for your input Mr. Skeets. As an organizer you know how hard it is to keep everyone happy. There will always be whiners and their will always be the laid back, I’m having a great time people. I’ve read this ratings area to help create a good experience in the small area that pertains to what I provide to a venue. Not everyone will be happy, but I try. What we’ve done in our car club this year was to provide a survey sheet to get an idea of what the participants want at a car show. Just put five or six sentences with a check box asking for opinions, maybe a yes/no format like this
Did you like the live music we had this year? Yes or no
Should we open the event to newer model years? Yes or no
and then leave a few lines for written comments.

…and so and so forth. You can then take time after a show and evaluate the responses. This is what we did at the Fond Du Lac Corn roast this year. We got very thoughtful comments on many things.

Yes, Merc is to Ford as Buick is to Chevy as far as muscle cars go. Chevelles are popular but GS Skylarks are pretty cool…and I’ve been seeing more of those at shows too.

    These aren’t muscle cars??
The 1967 Mercury Comet 427 distilled the muscle car to its essence with the biggest, strongest V-8 in the lightest midsize body.
Cougar escaped Mustang’s shadow with the striped, spoilered 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. The 1969 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II added a dash of NASCAR flavor to Mercury’s muscle car stew.
No mere Torino Cobra clone, the 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler had a 370-bhp Ram Air 429 and its own identity.

Alright!! The show I had lost the date for is for the Cars In The Park event in Waunakee on September 11th. My sincere thanks to those that re contacted me to assure my presence there. I surely would have felt badly if I didn’t show up at a scheduled event and caused undue worry.

Would have loved to attend this one but a family reunion fell on this date.

Thanks for the nice comments on my DJing. Sorry about the loudness at times. I can’t tell how loud things really are from behind the controls and some discs have very quiet or very loud levels it seems. Also having to be parked near a speaker can be hard on the ears. Sorry again. Next year the song list will be finished which will make it easier for me to get requests played or to see if I actually have a song. Can’t possibly remember everything that is in the collection. LOL. Any suggestions on what I should try and get for next year is appreciated. Great show Aaron!

Thanks to the Road Apples for having me out there again this year. I’m grateful for all the nice comments about my DJing. I truly enjoy doing this show (and O-town Showdown) because I get to play a greater range of music than normally heard at car shows. If anyone has ideas about the music they want to hear next year, PM me and I will try and get it. I am working on a book listing everything I have so it will be easier for me to fill requests. I can’t remember everything I have in the collection.

Wow! Sounds like everyone is going to Sun Prairie and Oregon. Got the room booked and the trucklet is loaded. Hope to see everyone there and yes, ss396, I got the Neil Diamond stuff you wanted. I found a double disc set at the music store and it has all the faves. I’m hoping the weather holds out and doesn’t rain on me. Water and electronics don’t mix

Come! Let us reason together. I live in the Milwaukee area and many shows are held on the same day as others. Many have their favorites to attend, others car owners alternate their attendance every year to get to see all the shows. I do this as well when I’m drawing cars at shows when I am not scheduled as DJ for a particular event. In the Madison area, I think enough cars are out there to make attendance at either show successful. I am scheduled to be at Oregon, but I would wager that Albany gets quite a few cars to be at their show. Those that are not so concerned about trophies probably would even benefit from attending both, spending the morning at one and doing the other towards the afternoon. I’ve seen this happen last year during The Justice League Of Car Clubs event at Great Lakes Dragaway and the Classy Cruisers show in Racine. There was a cruise to start at GLD and go to CC in Racine and back again, for those that chose to do that…and that was quite a bit of miles to do. We are truly blessed to have so many events to go to and attend. I am hoping there was no malice in the disappearing posters, and only was just someone taking one home. :P

I was there as well. Great fun, and I had a blast tearing through the parking area in the HHR. I still have the Iowa mud on my tires. LOLZ. music was great. They had several bands. Surf Zombies were the best. I met Pearls Malone of Pearls Malone and The One-eyed Jacks fame. really nice lady and I bought one of her CDs. I went basically to watch and help the model car display. One model was a 1/6th scale all scratch-built 29/30 Ford Tudor sedan. All from the flat head to the tires and wheels was all hand made…no kit parts. One person had three coaster wagons of older vintage that had a great look and paint plus go kart tires. Arlo from Wisconsin Hot Rod Radio was also there. Great event for their first one. John Wells and his wife are really nice people and this event was to start a trust fund for their daughter’s future heart surgeries.

So a AMC Javelin with a 401 or 390 would not be a muscle car? I think it might be one.

Could be someone who just doesn’t like the abject glorification of cars.
