moparkid25ParticipantRegal Roadsters is a great place. I had Chuck do some appraisal work for me a long, long time ago. He was very detailed and fair priced

moparkid25ParticipantA nearby neighbor of mine has purchased two cars off the block at Mecum in the past. Great deals to be had, and lots of nice cars going for decent money. That’s how it should be!!!

I’m middle class, and even if I didn’t “live at home with my daddy” I could still support myself just fine while contributing to my healthcare and retirement plans. Walker’s cuts won’t hurt my employment. I think others just need to budget more accordingly, and maybe not spend what they don’t have. You never get ahead or save by living credit card to check.

Quote:I am certainly interested in anything/something different this year.If someone/anyone (GTO Man, Amigo 2K, MoparKid, Circletrack, ????) were to put together a group of people and their cars for a weekend cruise or a weekday evening cruise such as the Fort, I’m up for it!
Wouldn’t it be awesome for a large group of cars from the Madison/Dane County area to cruise into Cindy Lou’s or the Fort Atkinson cruise night?
I went to Waterloo with a few guys I know on another forum last summer. That was a real nice time, but it was quite the drive for me. It would be nice if there was something centrally located (in Verona for example) for us to attend Marshall. I like the RA nights, but I can’t get over there during the week anymore. And a few of you know how I feel about a certain Thursday evening event that takes place… My weekends are utilized for car activities nowadays.
Life was so much easier with no responsibilities.

Quote:I know there is a Madison convertible club that meets like once a month and heads out for a cruise which ends at a restaurant. It would be nice if there was another group like this for all makes and models of cars that would meet for an early cruise and then head out for breakfast and then you just cruise on home. This way you get to cruise, check out cars, talk with some folks have a nice meal (instead of the stock brats and burgers) and cruise on home before noon …
This is one reason why I like things like cars and coffee, quick and easy and everyone enjoys the cars.
That’s a good idea. My boss’ wife was asking me about another “Zac Cruise” this year… which may happen. But it will have to be a on a weekend, and a fun drive on some backroads
moparkid25ParticipantI’m going to drive my car as much as I can. I’ve done a lot to it over the winter, and the reward will be to drive it
Plus it will probably be easier on gas than my truck anyhoo….

Quote:Maybe its is time we start eliminating or limiting property tax exemptions for businesses that have been exempt.Religious
Charity
Hospital
Fraternity
Labor Temple
Medical Research
TheatreExamples of ones to eliminate would be Churches who are renting out real estate for profit, churches who shelter criminals, or charities where salaries are out of line, etc.
I see absolutely no reason any of the above listed should be exempt from property taxes. Of course, hospitals and medical research centers will piss and moan, thus wanting to raise already high health care costs. There would need to be some compromise with them so they wouldn’t put the costs on the backside of the taxpayer. Fraternities should pay property taxes, no exemptions. Churches, or any place of worship, should pay also. There’s a reason they pass the offering plate around at each service, an extra dollar out of each worshiper wouldn’t hurt. And would someone explain to me why a theatre isn’t paying property taxes?? For what they charge to go to a movie, or a show, they can pay property taxes.
moparkid25ParticipantLocal shows are nice, but you often see many of the same people and cars. Not that thats a bad thing, but after while it gets boring.
Trophies are nice, but they’re not on my list of a reason for going to a show. The things I look for in a show is:
-Variety of possible cars that will be there
-If its in a town or location I’ve never attended
-An annual event that is always a great time (for me that’s Jesus Built my Hot Rod)I also like to try and attend new shows that I’ve never been to. I’ve done one or two new ones a year for the last couple years, some I will return to and some I won’t.
My favorite shows to attend are:
-Automotion
-RA show in Sun Prairie
-O-town showdown
-Blanchardville
-Brodhead
-Jesus Built my Hot RodThose are the ‘Must Attend’ shows each year
moparkid25ParticipantHere’s my last and final post on this subject, because I can’t stand hearing about it from anyone on either side of the fence anymore. This fiasco has tainted every website I enjoy, including this one.
If you don’t like your job, quit. Go work somewhere else, doing something else, where you can support yourself/family how you feel best. There are a lot of people that would be happy to have a job in general right now.
I wasn’t happy at my job. I had been there for 12 years, how many people do you know that are 30 and have worked at the same place since they were 17? Not many. I liked what I did, I like helping people, but the company was going in a direction I didn’t like nor agree with. It was also to a point where I felt I had nothing more to offer the company, wasn’t going to be promoted or get a raise, so I made the decision to leave. It was chance that I was offered the job of a lifetime, but I set forth on a new path and am making a better life for myself. Someday may come where I have a wife or kids (hopefully not anytime soon though ), and when that time comes I plan to have everything paid for. To set forth on this journey, I’ve lived with my Dad for the last 2.5 years, helping take care of his homestead. I don’t overspend, I live on a tight budget.
Private companies change policy every day, just like Walker has proposed. I see both sides of the story, too. State workers are too worried about losing there cushy benefits. If you are a state worker effected by Walkers proposal, like worried you can’t make your mortgage payments, car payments, bills, etc by having to contribute to your pension and insurance, you’re probably overdoing it right now. I know what you’re thinking, “says the guy who lives with his daddy”, and thats fine. But when I am ready to make that big purchase, I am not going to worry about finances, and my family will not either.
Its time to get this State back in the black. I don’t see the left doing anything to help or offer comprimise, they’re running scared in Illinois – the home of crooked politics.
Its also time people take care of themselves, and social programs get flushed down the crapper too.
Moparkid out
moparkid25ParticipantI’m interested, but unfortunately I don’t have the $$$ to buy it up at this time.
moparkid25ParticipantIn reality, the HHR is a pretty versatile vehicle.
I bought gas on my way home from work tonight, $3.35 a gal. Put $45 bucks in my Silverado and it got me just a hair over 3/4 on the gauge.
The bad thing is I had just a hair under 1/4 when I pulled up to the pump
I plan to drive my hot rod a lot this summer is fuel doesn’t level out. I love my truck, and I only have to drive 12 miles to work one way, but I enjoy getting out in the summer, too. I eat out less, don’t make unnecesary trips if I don’t have to, and watch my spending. I’ve been doing this since the $4 peak also. Hopefully there will be some peace in the East, and that can help decline current fuel prices. If not, I say drill here. Just the mention of it last time lowered fuel prices!!
