Where is this dealership located?
circletrackParticipantMarshall ~ I agree with your points but have decided through the years that I want a car that makes ME happy, not so much the judges. My car isn’t the color it came from the factory (Butternut Yellow ~ yuck), and we’ve made a few changes that aren’t 100% correct either, but it’s my car and I receive many awards and compliments on it.
With that said, I don’t have a classic Mustang and realize that’s a tough class to be in. Yes, there were many, many nice Mustangs at Blanchardville and I continue to see more and more at shows. The bar has been raised in recent years, it’s amazing how many cars we see at shows and the quality of the work. Don’t be so hard on yourself, your car is very nice too and it’s 100% YOURS!
Did you happen to see the Mustang that was in my class? My word, that car had to be worth more than everything I own and was clearly in the wrong class, but there was nothing I could do about it. This show has pretty fair judges and they recognized the fact that although the owner sees that car as a Street Machine, it clearly isn’t.
Keep up the good work, it will pay off! You can never replace what you have!
circletrackParticipantBlog, blog, blog! I don’t have time for all that, I prefer forums like this where I can see what’s new and start reading!
circletrackParticipantFor those that have met me, how old do you think I am?
circletrackParticipantI did hear the judges were more serious this year, especially with the trailered cars. I don’t have a problem with trailered cars and understand if you came quite the distance and weren’t able to drive your car to the show, but it’s also unfair to park a few blocks away and consider yourself part of the street machine, etc. class.
And yes, 4:00 is pretty late but they had over 400 cars to judge and didn’t start until after noon, it’s a big job. There are many cars that come from Illinois to this show, the variety is always nice!
circletrackParticipantNice show, great location. Having the pool for the kids is always a positive, it’s unfortunate the park is so out in the open without and shade (unless you’re a vendor).
This may be me, but I’ve been to numerous shows this year with the same sound system and while that guy does an okay job ~ he tends to get annoying after a bit.
circletrackParticipantFox Lake is held at a huge park, there is literally something for everyone. A burnout contest, muffler rap ~ games for the kids, etc. We left early last year as a storm was rolling in, but look forward to going back this year.
I do like Edgerton also, and wish they wouldn’t have changed their date.
circletrackParticipantI can’t vote on this one, not sure why…
Not really…. When we attend a national Chevelle show a month or so ago in TN, we stopped at a Sonic and were surprised you couldn’t eat inside ~ only outside service. It was very hot outside and with a carload of people, we were looking to find something nice and cool. Maybe it’s me, but life seemed simpler years ago and car-hops were nice, but now I want to get out and have someone serve me.
circletrackParticipantFox Lake and Edgerton are the same weekend this year! blob8.gif
circletrackParticipantWe’ve found some of the little “local” diners are the best places to stop. Many times though we’ll grab some snacks from the gas station on the way! Summer tends to be hard on the waistline at times!
circletrackParticipantI’m helping too! July is a BUSY month for many. I know we have our weekends booked into August
circletrackParticipantYes, we went last year and parked as a club. This year we’ll be parking within our class as the last two years they’ve put clubs together, which is nice, but it’s also in the cornfield out back. Not fun! See you there!
circletrackParticipantWherever it’s the cheapest! Usually I stop at BP or Kwik Trip. It’s getting ridiculous ~ over $3!
circletrackParticipantQuote:It has been quiet in here lately. I will be heading to Iola tomorrow, hopefully with no problems. We will be taking two cars, the GTO and the Cutlass. Its a nice drive up there and there shouldn’t be too much traffic. It is getting to the point where it is no fun to drive these cars in Madison anymore. I used to take them to work once in a while, but haven’t for a year or so. Too many morons on the road. Everybody is in such a big hurry, idiots. Thats why it is nice to attend shows that take a bit of a drive. I am looking forward to Blanchardville this Sunday.I hear you on that one! I’ve wanted to drive the Chevelle to work a few times but get so nervous in the morning just driving my Mustang I’d be a wreck by the time I got to work. Everyone is in a such a rush, the Beltline is a nightmare most days.
What time are you going to leave for Blanchardville? We’re planning on leaving around 8 from the Red Robin off Monona Drive.
circletrackParticipantWell, we’ve battled the weather more than anything this year! Last night wasn’t too bad given it was July 4 and all. I’m really hoping the weather cooperates and we can have some nice nights!
