Beaver Dam, Portage, Pardeeville, Armory, and Boondockers were my favs this year. Mainly because of how well they are organized.
The ones that need work:
Fox LakeOverall it was another good year, didnt get to go to as many shows as I would have liked, but oh well there is always next year. Now that fall is here I can start reworking and such to get ready for next summer…and get the wife’s Nissan Z in show order.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI would have to agree…participant ballot should never allow you to judge cars within your own class, period. This has me concerned at the Audoban Days show in Mayville this year where you only get to judge cars in your class…to me that is the worst idea possible.
Participant judging usually sucks…there isnt much way around that. The only good way that I’ve seen is basically what lordairguitar stated: Split the ballots up where you only judge a couple of classes, and never your own.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantEarly this winter the Eclipse is probably going down to AMS in Chicago for cam indexing and dyno tuning…as well as a software upgrade.
Then it will be some underbody and suspension cosmetic work: Stripping the parts and repainting them, cleaning and polishing the underside to get ready for World of Wheels.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI think we’ll be heading to the benefit thing at Rev. Jim’s for Belinda Posto on Sat.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantFYI Marshall, the Heathers Lake Rippley show is on its last legs for a reason…it is by far the worst show I have ever been to, and the only cars that bring trophies are those that are friends of Heather.
The only nice thing about the show is the location…its a nicely located park with a beach.
And dont expect much from the Gordie Boucher show… You might fit in better with your Mustang, but they really dont like people bringing imports to their show.
Either way, have fun…thats a pretty ca-filled weekend.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantPardeeville for us this weekend.
Still not sure what to do about the Rev. Jim’s show/Benefit for Belinda next weekend…
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThe date isnt up to me…Im just a messenger. We can try to see if it can be moved. Just make your voices known.
My suggestion is perhaps they should try to move it to that evening?
Eclipse_TunerParticipantFYI, The final cruise-in at Rev. Jims will be Sept. 12th. It will be held in conjunction with a Benefit for Belinda to help out with her Mayo Clinic bills. I will post up more info on the calander
Eclipse_TunerParticipantIn terms of modified judging, I also think its important to take into consideration how much of the mods are “off the shelf” vs. custom made. I also think that consideration should be paid to who did the modifying…owner vs. shop.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantSpring Green looks good to me too…we’ll see if I can make it.
As for Rev. Jim’s Cruise-ins, they are still on…just not as promoted as usual. A lot of it has to do with Belinda’s health (which is also why the vfw show is cancelled this year)since she is the the person in charge of it. Rumor has it that a benefit show will be held this fall either at Rev Jims or the VFW
Eclipse_TunerParticipantI just saw Belinda last week and it was still on as of last Tuesday? Has anyone heard different?
Eclipse_TunerParticipantEclipse_TunerParticipantQuote:What happened there? I’ve always heard that Fox Lake was a pretty good show…There were some issues in how a few of the classes were judged. A bit of confusion, favoritism, shady judging of judges’ friends’ cars.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThis doesn’t surprise me in the least…
There are some positives in regards to vehicle safety, but the alterior motive is pretty clear. There needs to be much more public discussion on this.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantFox Lake for me…hopefully they got their heads out of their rears for judging now.
