in terms of product design, and who the intended user is, its actually a pretty good fit. I go to China for work a couple of times each year, and the their cities are not layed out for a standard American sized vehicle. So its a pretty good product solution for their situation.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantlol, it shows how desparate ford is. they literally are putting all of their eggs in one basket, and the basket isnt even all that good. granted that the gt500 edition has some nice hp and torque numbers, it still suffers from poor quality materials, huge tolerances (part size variance) and other bugs. the mustang is a shell of its former self.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantboodockers doesnt really do entry classes. its just open to everybody.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantSame here…not sure if Ill go again, the crowd didnt seem to thrilled to have a tuner car in their midst.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantcurrently it is, but it hasnt been officially booked yet
Eclipse_TunerParticipantim not completely filled in with what they are doing to the website, all that i know is that it was having issues and was on a charter server at the time.
i guess that area of pennsylvania ave has been getting hit pretty often with break-ins and thefts over the past few months. Lance is considering building a shop out by his house, which would be nice cuz then he’d have a spray booth.
on the plus side, it sounds like the shop is going to continue to do the car show.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantthe website is in the process of being rebuilt…lesson learned about using Charter’s webhosting services…
The shop got cleaned out pretty good…bike frames, blowers, and pretty much every air tool and hand tool. Hurray for insurance.
Quote:I’d really like to feel sorry about that…yet I don’t.?? had a bad experience with the shop?? its not really my business, just curious…
Eclipse_TunerParticipantits an awesome car, but Im wondering if it would do better under the Infinity badge?
Either way, anyone who is a car nut should be after the GTR
Eclipse_TunerParticipantThe Mayville show wasnt too bad, but Im not a fan of participant judging.
I doubt Ill return to the Fox Lake show unless they get their judging, classes, and organization in order.
Labor Day Janesville sucked. I wont be going back there unless I grow a mullet. Ballot stuffing, and Mustang loving was all that show was. At least the food was free.
Howards Grove was just as bad, even though it was concourse styled.
The Chalmers Jewelers show is ok, even though they dont know the definition of “tuner car” even though they had a tuner class (a Corvette c5 won because of its loud factory stereo….call me crazy but a stereo doesnt define “tuner”).
Eclipse_TunerParticipantMost overated muscle cars? Hmmm
Anything Corvette…granted they are great performance for the price, they are in no way world class manufacturing quality…for that you are looking at Porsche GT 1s, 2s, and 3s; or Ferarri, McLaren, or Aston Marton. This really goes back to hand-built vs. assembly line.
Bring on the Nissan GTR!!! I cant wait.
New Mustangs, regardless of what trim level.
New Ford GT “supercars”.
Mopars are seamingly bringing some high dollar lately…not sure why.
60’s Mustangs that were not badged under the Shelby emblem…although the Boss might be barely an exception.
As for underated muscle cars:
The original Nissan Z
Turbo’d Buick GSX
First edition turbo Supra
2nd generation Celica gt4…all wheel drive and 400 hp.
Eclipse_TunerParticipantwhat will kids remember out today? hmmm
1: price of gas…possibly the fact that the fuel is gas too.
2: Toyota dominating the mass-customization tool.
3: The decline of Nascar and the death of American open wheel (IRL and CART).
4: The rebirth of car design and styling that seemed so dead in the 80s till about a year ago.
5: Big rims, small tires, a/v systems, crazy body kits
6: Large vehicles, SUVs, huge trucks…and how they were a bit of a mistake for the big 3
I may be young, but I do know about steering knobs, curb feelers, continetal kits, von dutch style, sling bodies, lead sleads, rats, west coast rods style, and that Adolf Hitler was the impetus behind VW.
Hurray for being a car enthusiast…tons of impracticle knowledge lol.
Eclipse_TunerParticipanti used to be a big nascar fan, but find my self losing interest more and more each year. I stay on top of what Dale Jr. is doing, but other than that, its getting dull.
nascar has seemed to lose sight of its roots
Eclipse_TunerParticipanti would like to see at least 2 hummer versions dropped, the “new” ford taurus, the chevy cobalt, most “crossover” vehicles (which are nothing more than suv’s that just have a new name to get around emissions classifications). the dodge caliber and nitro, and i dont think that manufacturers need to have 3 sedans that really only differ in minor changes.
it would be nice to see car manufacturers bring some style back…the only new cars that look unique lately (in my opinion) are the 2006+ eclipse, the new nissan gt-r, the audi r8, mazda rx8, the smart car, mini, and anything from ferrari.
November 7, 2007 at 7:16 pm in reply to: What is happening with people today? A thread for venting #30624Eclipse_TunerParticipantMMRJR, I agree 100%, thats why Ive switched to imports. Ill take a Toyota, Mitsubishi, or Honda over a latemodel Ford or Chevy any day. Chrysler is a minor exception considering up until last year they were jointly designed and engineered by Mercedes and Mitsubishi.
I find it funny that foreign car makers seem to have a better grasp on our culture than the big 3.
My rant is that so many people get on their high horse about their Ford, Chevy or Dodge being so American made. This became irritatingly blatent during the Janesville show when a redneck in his latemodel black Mustang with IH8RICE on his license plates got on my case about buying American. I could only laugh and point out to him that my Eclipse and my wife’s Toyota are more “American Made” than his Mustang was.
Ignorance is not an excuse to be an @#$%#@#$
Eclipse_TunerParticipantBeing a former automotive designer, its pretty easy to see that Ford is just using the marketing potential of it to boost sales.
The car itself is not that good of a quality car, and as such Ford has been trying everything to push sales.
What is really unfortunate is that Ford basically fired the design team (which was from Mazda) after the car was produced…thats a shame because its the first well stylized car Ford had put out in quite a while.
