Oh he didn’t just lean…he planted his ass against it. like I said, hard enough for me to feel the car move
jonmandudeParticipantMopars on the Mississippi is also Sunday, August 23
they do a cruise-in on Saturday, August 22 as well. It used to be a cruise, but the state of Iowa has passed a law that says they have to get a parade permit if there is more than 100 cars. I guess it was too much hassle and expense so it became a cruise-in instead
jonmandudeParticipantSomeone ran a bicycle into a Superbird in Spring Green this weekend, chipping the paint on the sail panel…….sad
I had a guy PLANT his ass against my car once at a show. I was sitting there talking with someone, with my arm on the roof and I felt the car move. I looked and there was a guy leaned against the rear quarter talking on his cell phone. There was benches LITERALLY 5 feet away. I looked and said “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!” He moved along.
I have had little children walk up and put their hands on the car and it never bothers me. Kids do that. I have always noticed their parents stop them and apologize to me, I always smile and say “no problem”…but adults should know better.
I avoid any show or cruise in with a lot of alcohol, we all know how alcohol creates bad judgement.
For the most part people are fairly careful. I cringe at strollers and bikes, but I guess I have been lucky to not get damaged.
jonmandudeParticipantCar Craft Summer Nationals today and Saturday, then Belvedere Mopar Happening on Sunday
Oh yeah…..and sweating my butt off
jonmandudeParticipantThat Cuda is nice, but brings me some questions
Why was the fender tag removed from the car?
If the car is a “Californa car” with no rust, why does the removed fender tag show signs or corrosion?hmmm
jonmandudeParticipantI rolled in a little before 8:00 and was car number 511. Someone who rolled in shortly after me (in my group) was car number 381. With goodie bags going to the first 400, you think this would be a little more organized?
I could have parked in the front, but was with a group of 12, so to park us together we were directed to the back grassy lot. I thought this was very generous and accommodating.
The weather started out foggy, which turned to overcast with a breeze to sunny and humid towards the end. The location is very unique, on the grounds of a hotel with a nice lake for a backdrop.
There were no classes. There was a table full of awards and it appeared that they just walked around and picked the cars they liked. They picked one car in our group, a 1970 Challenger, and told him straight out that only older cars were considered. The quality of cars was pretty top notch, so I am sure the “pickers” (I will not call them judges) probably had to thin it out somehow. If this is their decision, it’s all good. Could not have been easy picking out 25 or so cars out of close to 800.
I would call this a very nice show and one I may go to again. The people hosting the show were very nice and very accommodating. They even thanked our group for bringing a nice bright selection of color.
I would give this show a 3 1/2 to 4 star rating. If you have not attended this show, I highly recommend it.

I wonder what he is getting next…if anything
Honestly, I may not be far behind him. This hobby is losing it’s “community”. There is too much, “how much did you spend” and not enough “built in the driveway” for me. Most of us on this forum are of the latter, but most at shows are “bought not built”….and the attitudes to go with it.
jonmandudeParticipantAnd while thinking about it
The “3 or more” rule has exclusions
A huge blower or twin turbo setup
a big block in a small compact car
cutting the roof off
“Lambo” doors
tubbed rear ends
air bags
body parts that do not belong
(GTO front nose on a Tempest for example)To me DRAMATIC changes would bypass the “3 or more” rule
jonmandudeParticipantI got a flier that says the Bowlavard Lanes cruise night (listed as Wednesday) is Thursday
jonmandudeParticipantThere is a company (I believe in Kansas?) that does conversions from a Camaro to a GTO or two different versions of the Trans Am (72 & 78).
There is a couple companies that have done Cuda conversions on Challengers too.
All look decent, but still something looks a bit off.
jonmandudeParticipantNo! Please don’t share this here. This is very poor “reporting” from an idiot who calls himself an “automotive journalist”.
This is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a release from General Motors. This is a 4-5 year old artist rendering that has no basis in anything other than just an artist drawing a car design. It is based on a Challenger body with a 1970 Chevelle front end drawn on.
This type of piss poor “journalism” needs to be stopped. There has been numerous “articles” like this over the years saying “The new Cuda” and always it gets spread on forums and car sites. even after the CEO of SRT said in an interview that “there is not, nor has there ever been, a plan to do a Cuda”. Every year some “automotive journalist” finds a artist rendering and writes an “insider” story. It is all BS.
When a manufacturer does a new model, or redesign, they have an official release…usually at a big auto show. they NEVER leak information to a lower level “automotive journalist”
jonmandudeParticipantLast I heard was 18
jonmandudeParticipantI am Minnesota bound this weekend. Two days of Mopars. Already 535 cars pre-registered, which is a record. The weather looks good, just gotta get past the rain that is supposed to be here Saturday morning.
jonmandudeParticipantQSL started the first Thursday of May
