Honestly I don’t think there is a solution for Chrysler or GM. They have been poorly run for too long. With the weight of the union pensions, the delay in producing vehicles that compete with the “imports”, and the greed at the top, there is just too much . A bankruptcy may help but, like the bailout, it is only delaying the inevitable. It sucks but it is what it is. Everything runs it’s course. All businesses reach a point where they are beaten by the competition. In industry it is always the need to stay at the leading edge of technology or you will be surpassed by those that do. In GM and Chrysler that time has come. They have had a good run but it is ending. Much like American Motors, Desoto, Auburn, and any other brand you can think of that is no more. The big three pushed many automakers out of business by building a more desirable product, now it is happening to them. The government did not step in to help any of those companies, it should not step in now.

I’ll bet we will see some at QSL this year.

Of course there will be some at QSL. QSL is all about the store bought car. Very little respect is given to the home built car. It is primarily Vette, Mustang, Vette, Mustang, Challenger (new one), and another Vette.

Wrong. Every place does not have something worth eating. I like chicken, but hate wings. Call me weird, you won’t be the first. I didn’t expect you to bash QSL either, you’re a big boy now :P

Never had Chipotle, where’s that at?

Now if I could the love of my life to eat the “morning after” burrito… The possibilites are endless

The Lube has more than wings. Their Burgers are pretty good.

Chipotle has three locations in Madison, West on Old Sauk, Downtown near Brats, and across from East Towne.

And if she is the “love of your life” why would you need a morning after burrito?

Mad Max’s Holden was a police car.
Either car Will Smith had in Bad Boys
The Charger SRT8 in Street Kings

What about the scene from Blues Brothers? Or Hooper? Granted Hooper was more of a stunt team doing a chase scene for a movie but it rocked…maybe not top ten but..

Blues Brothers is definitely in my top ten. I would remove Cannonball Run

Since I started a thread about those eatery’s I like, let’s start one about the one’s we don’t like:

Quaker Steak & Lube. I love the atmosphere at the place, but not the food. I’ll go there for beers with the guys and car night, but I’ll eat dinner at home beforehand.

I know many of you expect me to slam QSL because of my past there, but I will not on this subject. The burgers are very good. I do miss the Carolina Burger. It was my favorite item on the menu. I never knew why it was removed. It can still be ordered however. The wings were better during the first year they were opened, then they started messing with cooking times.

Hooters. Big suprise they closed, there food sucked. Heck, the “whole place” wasn’t really anything to enjoy unless you’re 16 years old.

Hooters had/has one item I go there for..the ultimate ham and cheese. It is good. And unlike QSL the wings at Hooters are cooked completely

Any seafood joint, like Red Lobster or Joe’s Crab Shack. I hate seafood. I can handle a lil Chicken of the sea, but only on toast in salad form.

I will agree with you here. I hate both of these places. Red Lobster is a joke and Joe’s Crab Shack is even worse. Overt priced horrible (i guess you could call it) food

Applebees. The food tastes like the plates they serve it on.

Olive Garden. I’ll only force down a meal here because my mom likes to go there. I had such a bad experience at the one on the west side a couple years ago, I’ll never go back. I take Mom to the East Side to eat.

This one surprises me. I have never had a bad meal at Olive Garden

Taco Bell. The last time I ate a taco bell was July. I got so sick from it I had to take the next day off work to recouperate. Before that, it had been about two years since I ate at one…and the same condition occured-the stomach flush. Both times it was from eating at the one on Park Street, that may have had something to do with it but I refuse to eat at any TB anymore.

Why does anyone eat at Taco Bell? It has got to be the worst thing on the planet to eat.

Subway. After while, all the sandwiches taste the same. Poor Jared.

I like Subway, but you are correct the sandwiches are bland

Now with all of that said, let me add some good.

Chipolte! My god their burritos are good. A little pricy but compared to Taco Bell worth every penny.

Joey’s Seafood, I have over filled myself a couple times on Monday nights with the all you can eat crab legs. Also their seafood pasta rocks.

If our government would get off it’s lazy corrupt ass and work out a national health care plan none of this would be necessary. We are the ONLY country in the world without national health care. Get the damn insurance companies and the lawyers out of it, stop making people rich and start doing what is right for the people of the United States.

I think Consumer Reports is a factor when there is no personal experience to draw from. Personal experience will always be a factor in any purchase. The old “screw me once shame on you, but screw me twice shame on me”

What ever happened to “Eat Cheese or Die”?

They could have done “Wisconsin where you can drink beer, smoke pot, and have a gay partner, but we are working on making everything else illegal”

That would have been honest at least. The crappy “live it like you mean it” slogan sucks and how can we do that when they make what we enjoy illegal

Absolutely not. I have not liked the build quality or reliabilty of the big 3 for years. If I am buying a new car I look for quality and reliability above everything else, and the big 3 don’t have have it. Nissan, Honda and Toyota vehicles outlast and get better gas milage…not to mention they do it at a better price. I love the look of the new Challenger but it is built on the same platform as the Charger and I have known two people that purchased Chargers only to trade them in two years later because of too many issues. I purchased a new Chrysler Sebring in 2002. I liked how the car looked and drove, but I was in the shop every other month. Yes it was all fixed under warranty, but that isn’t the point. I have owned 4 Nissans and not one of them ever had any problems… with over 200,000 miles on them.

There is the kicker. I’ve had a bunch of GM’s go well over 200K with little problems.

If you love it, it will last forever. I’ve seen owners of Honda’s, Toyota’s, Chevy’s and Ford’s run them into the ground in 100K then see different owners in the same cars take them well past 200K

Well said. I guess it all relates to each persons personal experiences. I had an S-10 that spun a bearing with only 50,000 miles and some of the plastic pieces in the interior had broken or showed wear. In contrast, I had a Nissan Hardbody pickup, which I purchased new in 1990, that I abused (and I do mean abused) to over 208,000 miles. When I traded her in, she still ran like new and the interior showed little wear. That vehicle sold me on Nissans. I have owned 3 mopars, 1 Ford, and 2 Chevys, none of them gav eme the reliability of that one Nissan. Although in my mind no vehicle compares to a classic muscle car, I doubt that I will ever purchase a showroom new vehicle from a Detroit automaker again.

I do not have a set date. I rely solely on the weather. For me I wait for two good, solid rains to wash the streets. I have started my car twice now. Once when I got spring fever last week and today, just to pull it out and let it idle for a while while I cleaned the garage. I always love that first day when you start your baby and are reminded of how good it sounds. Now the weather just needs to cooperate so I can be reminded of how fun it is to drive, although this year I hope to not be reminded of how the gestapo like to harass people who enjoy “spirited” driving by stopping you and giving you a certificate of your enjoyment.
