I’m 99% positive this is car used to belong to the guy who lives down the road from me.

moparkid25ParticipantI took a drive over to black earth Saturday afternoon, and there wasn’t anything going on at the bowling alley. Frankly I was a little pissed off…

If the car is a “Californa car” with no rust, why does the removed fender tag show signs or corrosion?hmmm
Both are good questions. I noticed the same things that you did. I’m not a MOPAR guy, so I put this one on the forum just as it appears on craigslist, knowing that any issues would be noted.
Even though its a CA car, after 45 years of being washed and driven in the rain, it will have some light scale in places like a fender tag, or where two pieces of steel are bolted/riveted together. We also don’t know how long this car has been in WI, how it was stored, or driven.
I like everything about it except that damn luggage rack on the trunk lid
moparkid25ParticipantLots of gray areas here….
Obviously modified means something that is not original. Some shows have a minor mod and a major mod class, keeps the stoplight champions from having to compete against a pro street car that’s never made a pass down the track.
Stock to some people is only stock appearing. You may have a camshaft with more lump than a camels back, but if its under a stock intake and the heads have stock valve covers, it is considered stock. Others compete in a stock class, and get mad when others show up running radial tires, not bias plys. The purests mostly, but how often do we see this at our local shows? I mean, really, if someone is driving their Chevelle, Charger, or Mustang I don’t blame them for having radials. I’ve never looked at tires on a car and said, “That’s not stock.” After all, we don’t all attend Bloomington Gold every weekend (though there are a few of you that act like it  )
I myself agree with the 3 mod rule for stock classes, especially if they are period correct mods. Example: a guy shows up driving a ’69 Roadrunner, and he’s got a barefoot gas pedal installed, and his factory 14″ wheels have been replaced with a set of Cragars. Air shocks on the rear pumped way up. No engine or chassis mods. I’m ok with that.
What I am not ok with is when someone has a modded car and goes in a stock class. Whether it be ignorance on the owners parts, or lack of knowledge on the show staff, people gotta know what is right. Sure, I could pop my hood mount off and go in a stock class, but I guess I’m not vain. My car is modified, thats the class I go in. I think a lot of it also goes back to those who decide what their car is based on the competition. And this goes back to the show staff having to be knowledgeable. Also, if shows know something like this happens, some shows need to grow a pair and say, “Dude, this car is modified, you should be placed in the modified class.” This will be met with acceptance, or anger.
Some shows do not do a good job of specifing classes either, which also leads to confusion.
I could go on forever on this topic, but I’m tired and its time to go get some A&W. Always a good topic of conversation though!!
moparkid25Participantjonmandude wrote:No! Please don’t share this here. This is very poor “reporting” from an idiot who calls himself an “automotive journalist”.This is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a release from General Motors. This is a 4-5 year old artist rendering that has no basis in anything other than just an artist drawing a car design. It is based on a Challenger body with a 1970 Chevelle front end drawn on.
This type of piss poor “journalism” needs to be stopped. There has been numerous “articles” like this over the years saying “The new Cuda” and always it gets spread on forums and car sites. even after the CEO of SRT said in an interview that “there is not, nor has there ever been, a plan to do a Cuda”. Every year some “automotive journalist” finds a artist rendering and writes an “insider” story. It is all BS.
When a manufacturer does a new model, or redesign, they have an official release…usually at a big auto show. they NEVER leak information to a lower level “automotive journalist”
Just like the Camaro based ‘Trans Am’ that was supposed to be coming out :S
That Chevelle is pretty fugly.
moparkid25ParticipantThere is a cruise in at Leisure Lanes in Monroe Friday night from 5-8pm.
moparkid25ParticipantLast Saturday night was absolutely awesome, and reminded me of my high school and college days cruising East Wash. I finally got to Madison about 8pm, and cruised a lot of the motels and the Isthmus checking out all the cool cars and trucks. EW was pretty hopping too, I saw a lot of cars out that I hadn’t seen in years.
After following Ryan’s escapades on Facebook, I really wish I would’ve done the tour, or at least part of it. I agree, its nice to see and drive these muscle cars, but I definetly wouldn’t go without a tool kit, a few spare common parts, and a cellphone. With the heat, cars with AC were well appreciated. Comfort may get sacrificed, and a newer vehicle may be more cozy for the trip. I would love to do it in my Buick, but having a vehicle that can only run on 93 octane minimum makes for a real PITA on a long haul. Maybe I’ll have to get a 91 chip and add methanol injection, then I can buy premium fuel anywhere… 👿 👿 👿
I do hope that Madison welcomed this event, so that they would come back here in the future.
moparkid25ParticipantMVRegistrationRights wrote:GTO Man,You are SO right. It can be a big write-off, and sometimes it’s a lot more money than you’d get elsewhere.
Recently, two ’80s DeTomaso LongChamps went to the crusher, and the guy got $1200 total. We could have issued him a $5-6K tax credit for the pair, and those two cars would have been saved.
They were rough. They may not have been worth restoring. But they had a ton of good parts and they still were intact enough to display.
Watch for them soon, when they show up at a Harbor Trash near you, re-smelted back into a cheap crescent wrench!! (Excuse me while I go puke now. :woohoo: )
And now I’ve to clean the chocolate milk that came shooting out of my nose off my desk, keyboard, and monitor!
moparkid25ParticipantMVRegistrationRights wrote:To apply for a Bonded Title:
You’ll need to fill out DMV’s application.
Your car must meet the minimum requirement: a section of the frame or cowl which includes the VIN plus at least some other parts.
You’ll need to provide photos of the 4 sides, plus a legible photo or rubbing of the VIN. (A VIN inspection by a State Patrol is an option if you cannot get legible proof of the VIN for DMV.)
If you can provide any of the following to DMV, you should: Bill of Sale, Seller’s info, description of how you have the vehicle w/o a title, previous info about the vehicle, etc.DMV will then:
Check the VIN for records of theft, lien, prior ownership (titling & registration), approve it or deny it and tell you why.
Determine a value for your vehicle, based on Bill of Sale and corroborated by the Old Car’s Weekly Price Guide. They will advise you of this valuation, and if you don’t accept their value, then you can pay an independent vehicle appraiser to value it instead.
Set a Surety Bond amount for 1&1/2 times the value of the vehicle. This is the amount of coverage you need to purchase. It’s relatively inexpensive. Typically, a bond for less than $6,000 will cost $100.Enjoy your summer!!
Thanks for doing this. I have a question regarding what I highlighted though, does the purchaser determine the value of the vehicle without a title, or is the State going to determine the value based on the condition of the vehicle per the photos? If the consumer determines the value, and the State says its worth more (I have a hard time seeing them tell someone a vehicle is worth less) than a stated purchase price. Or am I confused, and the bill of sale signed by a seller and a purchaser will give you the value without basing it against the OCPG scale?
I understand both sides, as someone may ‘forget’ to write the correct purchase amount on a title, and the state not wanting to lose tax on a purchase. I’ve never bought a vehicle without a title, so I’ll admit I’m in the dark on this subject.

I’m going to drive up to Montello Saturday for the Gilbert Brown Foundation car show at the Wilderness Campground. After the Power Tour last weekend, I’m ready to see some new cars again!
moparkid25ParticipantNo Cars on the Square in Monroe for me. Not after the last one.
I think Saturday will be some Hot Rod Power Tour shenanigans.
moparkid25ParticipantI plan to check out the show Saturday, without my car.
moparkid25ParticipantHopefully they will have it again next year. I always like this show because its close to home, a good location, and there’s always a turnout of nice cars.
Given the expansion of the fire station, they will need a new location. I’m sure the powers that be will find a good place to host this event in years to come.

Note that you can add your own RTS listing too – let me know if you have questions about how to add a listing
The only technical difficulty I’ve found with the Rate The Show is people who organize shows and don’t receive 5 star reviews….
