See You Down The Road

After many years serving the classic car community, Wisconsin Collector Car will be shutting down at the end of 2024. Thank you for all of the car show memories!

This is what happens when a consumer is not willing to pay a few bucks more to support a local small business. Everybody thinks they get such a great deal buying goods from Costco, Sams, Tires Plus, Discount Tire… When you have an issue, is the salesperson who got you the guaranteed lowest price still going to be there? Probably not. Is corporate America going to give a rat sass about your concerns with your purchase? Of course not, they got your money already.

I sell tires. I go through the “Will you match their price” stuff every day. I like to explain that when they spend money at my facility, that money gets redistributed back to the local economy, where when you spend at a bog box store the community sees none of it. And if my clients have a problem, I will be there for them, because I am not going anywhere.

I also love when I lose out on a tire sale, and get to make it up on repairs to wheels, brakes, and other components because the unskilled or educated “technician” at the big box store left the lugnuts loose, or mounted a directional tire on the wrong way, or any other scenario I see after someone got “a great deal on tires.”

The Unions issue with right to work is that the new employee coming in may choose to take all his scale pay on the check, not pay dues, and not have the offered insurance. The union doesn’t get there cut off the top of said employees paycheck. The AFL-CIO plays this off with fire and brimstone tactics, saying no one will get raises, benefits taken away, blah blah blah. I am a firm believer that your pay should be based on job performance. A union only protects those who cannot do a job, and those who do a job poorly.

I agree with Jon, Unions had their place back in the 30s and 40s as they were to protect the employees. Now days the union is a business. How many union workers are still paying dues but have been riding the bench because the union they pay dues too also protects some idiot who is incapable of performing a task? The answer is many.

I’ve never worked in a union, never had a job where I got paid union scale, and don’t plan on it ever happening. I have good health insurance coverage, I have multiple retirement accounts, and most importantly I have two jobs (one of which I am the CEO, foreman, technician, and clean up boy) where I feel I have succeeded.

Turbobuick.com also has a “non turbo regal” for sale section, give that a look also. Buick minded people will be your first chance at a sale.

Another vote for cars-on-line.com, I’ve bought a couple cars that were advertised there and they were great cars. And like Ryan says, ad runs til sold.

If you don’t want spam emails, tire kickers, or the people looking to get something for nothing, I wouldn’t suggest a craigslist ad. Its too sketchy.

That quote is pure truth. A coworker of mine always says, “The democrats want to take your money and give it to other people. The republicans want to take your money and give it to each other.”

After 238 years, I think its time we the people deserve a third party option, that’s why I’m voting Libertarian.
