Im thinking about that Buick show also on Saturday. It will all depend on how hard the Friday night festivities in Belleville are on me. I’ll get in touch with you on Thursday, maybe we can convoy down to New Berlin?
moparkid25ParticipantI assume this shin dig takes place at night?
moparkid25ParticipantThere is a show and shine in Brodhead on Sunday for Covered Bridge Days. Its located behind Brodhead Chevrolet.
moparkid25Participantlordairgtar wrote:I really do agree with you guys. You haven’t had to deal with angry old buggers, though. They make your life hell, and it’s worse when they have an in with the organizers. I liked DJing for the guy that ran O-town Showdown before he was otherwise engaged. Aaron Hoff was willing to go beyond the normal music styles. . He wanted me to play outside the box as it were and even gave me an iPod with music to insert into my own playlist. There are shows that have been around for so many years that they hardly don’t expect any changes. On my own cruise night, if I see a bunch of younger guys come in with late model stuff, I move the music eras up a bit.So if an “angry old bugger” comes up to bitch about the music you are playing, you play it to accomodate him? That should be done for everyone who has a special request. Some people at shows ( organizers and participants included ) want hear what they like only. A DJ should get a feel for the crowd, and go from there. Yes, I have been beat to death with the Nash Ramblers BEEP BEEP, and if I never hear it again it wont be soon enough.
As much as I hate to say it, the times they are a changin. Newer music needs to come into the fold, save the doo wop for back to the 50s.
How about this question to ponder: Would shows be more enjoyable with or without music at all? I am in no way taking anything away from any car show DJ, but Ive been to a few shows that had no music and found it to be rather enjoyable…

And the stockness of his car depends on the size of the show and how many cars are in his class.
moparkid25ParticipantNo I meant the DBQ County Fairgrounds as the new place.
moparkid25ParticipantIm sure it had to do with costs. 3D Dave is probably the best DJ for car shows, one because he keeps things moving and two he knows cars. I myself would rather hear classic rock or metal over the doo wop, but not everyone else wants to. I would comprimise with country even!! I am a closet fan of Motown, and think its some of the best music ever made. What I dont want to hear played 76 times at one show is Hot Rod Linclon, Purple People Eater, The Monster Mash, Little Nash Rambler, or any other stupid pointless song.
On the other hand, I hate people who like the sound of there own voice too. Platteville used to have 3D, they have since went away from that and now broadcast a mix tape of Elvis and Beatles tunes when the drunken cowboy isnt rambling on about the invention of the wheel. I gat a flyer from the P-ville people in DBQ, and I asked if this BS was continuing for a third year. The lady got real excited and said “oh he might!” But her excitement turned to disapproval when I said “If he is, Im not coming. He sucks.”
Im suprised that Pardeeville would go away from 3D. But, it doesnt sound like the replacement is a good choice.
moparkid25ParticipantI wondered if it had anything to do with people not following the rules at Eagle. Eagle has a strict no smoking rule for the entire property, inside and out. I continued to see people toxify themselves and leave cigarette butts on the blacktop, trashing the parking lot.
I agree though that any other location would be better comfort wise.
moparkid25ParticipantThe last time I was at that show, I had my cuda there (2007?). There were 3-4 cars parked in the class, and three of award winners all had the staff shirts on and were club members. It went that way throughout all of the classes. That was the last time I went to that show.
BTW did you see they have yet again another new location for Mopars on the Mississippi this year?

“Also Sunday, after the parade, a Car Show and Shine is planned at Centennial Park starting at 1 p.m., Heimann said.”
And last week the Waunafest staff posted this:
http://waunablog.blogspot.com/2013/07/waunafest-classic-car-show-and-shine.html
“Sunday, July 28, 2013
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Centennial Park
803 South Holiday Drive
Waunakee, WI$5.00 Entry Fee. All proceeds will be donated to the Waunafest Committee.”
Yeah there is no way cars were getting into this show at 1pm with the parade traffic. I wonder what exactly the waunafest committe is doing with the $5 per car they made?
moparkid25ParticipantSounds a lot like the judging from the Reedsburg show a few years ago. Some judges spent about 10 seconds on a car, then the next one they were picking it apart while opening and closing doors without permission.
moparkid25ParticipantAnd Pete Rose was a bad guy for gambling on his own team…
This takes place in every sport, some are better at not getting caught. Clay Matthews didnt get that body by simply lifting weights. Adrian Peterson and RG3 have superhuman powers to come back from ACL surgery? I dont think so. I love the NFL, but I am also smart enough to know there is some sort of ‘supplements’ being used by all professional athletes. Braun shouldve quit while he was ahead, Selig was on to him. These hard hitters in football and baseball put asses in seats. Those same asses buy concessions and novelty items. Its a business.

There is nothing worse than pulling judges from the crowd on the day of your show that have no experience judging, let alone know what they are looking at… how can that be fair to anyone? I’ll never forget the organizer giving himself two awards and the majority of the door prizes (including the big awards) went right back to the people putting on the show, no thanks. Then… to practically call your friends out of the bar to collect their awards, I’m surprised anyone comes back.I last attended the same time you did also. The show organizer was drunk by the time it came down to doing the awards that year… I thought about going yesterday, but I went with option A and prepped myself for the DQ cruise in Monroe last night instead.
