DDHemi & I are going to check out that Fennimore show… I guess I’ll be driving the truck over there with hopes of a sale if I don’t get Buick parts this week :(

This is a truck that I have that I decided to sell. I am negotiable on price, just don’t have the time or the room for it/to finish it.

Here is a transcript of the letter I sent to the DAC’s earlier this week. I still have yet to get a reply….

    Quote:
    Hello,

I want to contact your organization and express my extreme disgust with your event this year.

The long lines to get into your event are totally unacceptable. I’ve been attending your show now for 10 years, and every year it is a hassle getting in and getting out. This year was by far the worst it has ever been! I waited almost two hours to go from the Shamrock Motel to the show entrance because of the traffic and the lack of direction/organization on your part. When I did finally get parked, I explained my frustrations to the guy parking cars, and he tells me “We’re doing the best we can.” If that is your best, I hate to see your worst. . This happens every year, and I know for a fact other participants have spoken up about other ways to make arriving easier. It may also be in your best interest to not have the police explorers directing traffic. When these kids are asked questions, the standard answer is “I dont know.” Again, not very helpful to those who are paying $15 to get in.

Was I the only one who saw all the coolant puddles and stains in the parking lot?! Not only will coolant harm the environment, but if someone’s dog were to drink that (why you allow people to bring there pets is another topic), the pet will die. I can’t imagine the management at Noah’s Ark would think multiple vehicles overheating and leaking coolant on there blacktop is acceptable Here are my ideas you may want to think about for next year, though I’m sure they are going to again fall on deaf ears:

*Have more than one entrance to Noah’s Ark open to ease the stress of arriving.

*If one has pre-registered for your show, send them a colored ticket along with there pre-reg confirmation letter so they can enter with ease – preferably at a seperate entrance.

*Tell your people parking cars to lose there attitude. I understand they are frustrated when people keep giving them static about the long waits, but they need to realize its there fault, not those who bring there cars.

*When you mail out your brochure, talk more about what the Dells has to offer, not what you can be fined for from the Police.

I also explained my concerns to the woman in the registration trailer, who acted like she did not care.

As I previously stated, I have attended this show for 10 years. The turnout and selection of vehicles is always amazing!! Many of my aqauintances, customers, and friends attend this event also. However, my feeling is that if you do not listen to the advice given you will lose those great attendance numbers. I understand my opinion doesn’t carry as loud as others may as I am a small fish in a big pond, but I attend 15-20 car shows a summer so I know good organization when I see it.

I must really evaluate attending your event from now on, as this year there were more negatives than positives. Other events also take place the same weekend, and though they are smaller, I’m sure they are less of a headache to attend. As of this moment, I have no interest in attending your event in the future.

    Sincerely,

    Zac Johnson

I really don’t expect to get a reply, mainly because I’m sure I’m not the only person who sent a letter of intent not to return.

I got my award the other day, The DAC really went cheap with them this year. I’m grateful to get one, but I received one in 2009 with my 442 and it is a much nicer award.

I checked availability of a tire for you today, none of my warehouses have anything available. I’ve got an email into two of my reps, but odds are you may be on the look for a new set of tires.

I got one too. Definately other cars more deserving of it than mine…

I deal in Cooper tires. If you let me know the size you have, I may be able to locate one for you.

Toothless wonder :) Never understand why she’s at registration, but furthermore… why she has no teeth? Did no one tell her there are options in this world!

As for them not expecting that many cars, I was told the same thing when I complained. My response was similar to yours, I don’t think the guy I talked to had a clue what was going on.

I could do without the endless trucks driving around with a box full of kids, that seems stupid and very unsafe. It was nice to see the cars cruising around, I understand the Edge of Dells was really busy with their day long burnout contest.

Congrats on the award, none of us stuck around either.

We both had dogs at the kennel that needed to be retrieved, and I was tired of sitting in the sun…. Don’t think I could’ve waited another two hours for them to be late with there awards presentation

I have yet to Rate the Show, but it will be a very colorful report.

First off, traffic was a nightmare. They need more than one Keystone Cop and police explorers directing traffic. It took me two hours to go from my motel to the show (I sat in the motel parking lot for at least 90 minutes waiting for a spot to open up in the street). Then as I’m sitting in line I tell my co-pilot “Look at all the coolant from overheating cars on the street, and someone’s burning oil.” I look in the mirror and the oil burner was me :( So now I’m not only pissed because I am inpatient, but I’ve got car issues too. I finally get parked and as I get out of the car I go ballistic on the guy parking. I tell him that everyone in his club better get there shit together, because they’ve got coolant all over the parking lot and a ton of pissed off people. He tells me “We’re doing the best we can.” I said that if this is your best, I hate to see your worst, because every year its a clusterf*** getting in here. Have they learned nothing?! Luckily I had pre-registered, but as we were sitting in line I thought to myself “If I get up there and they start turning cars away, someone is going to owe me $15.” I believe they were able to park every car though. I walk up to the registration tent and get the lady with no teeth that spits on everything while she talks… Again, not helping my already short and lit fuse. I explain to her that there is no reason after 26 years you can’t come up with a way to get these cars parked in a timely fashion. She gives me the song and dance that they didn’t expect this many cars – I call bullshit. They’ve always had anywhere between 800-1200 cars every year I’ve been there.

The evening festivities were in force for awhile, and though the cops were present, I did not see as many as past years on patrol. Lots of hillrods and urban hillbillies with there lifted trucks cruising, but lots of nice cars also. Finally the long arm of the law relaxed somewhat.

Today there was maybe 1/3 of the cars from Saturday. I had to leave early, but found an award sticker on my car when I returned to it. The toothless wonder would not let me get my award early, so RivFan was nice enough to pick it up for me (which as I type this, the awards are probably being presented right now).

That oil burner I mentioned earlier…. Let’s just say someone is shopping for a new turbo   In tradition, I can’t go to the Dells without something on one of my cars breaking the night before, on the way, or after I get there.

I have no desire to attend this show anymore, at least not as a participant. I do not have the patience for this hulabaloo year after year after year.

Looks good, Ryan. Can’t wait to see it in person :)

I understand that Full Circle has changed locations? I was told they are no longer on Helgeson, and moved back over near the old Blue Chip location…

Last year there were two officers from Spring Green by our hotel and we stopped to talk with them for a few minutes on Saturday night. According to them, every officer is required to work that weekend, and they do their best to keep everyone in line and safe. They enjoy seeing all the cars and the crowds that come to town that weekend, but stress that if things get out of hand, the City can shut that show down in a heartbeat and they don’t want that to happen. Years ago when all the trouble erupted, the Dells Area Cruisers were told the show was done, never to happen again. The club worked hard with the city and the police officers to get the show back on. As a promoter I can’t imagine working hard all year long to put on a show I love, only to have it jeopardized by some that (a) don’t attend the show and never will or (b) some kids that intentionally decide to do something they know is wrong and then blame everyone else around them for their mistakes.

I’m all for having fun and have always thought they should have a specific location for burnouts and such, but realize that’s not going to happen. They tried to have a burnout contest at the racetrack, but I don’t think many went out there.

The weekend is always a nice way for us to relax and enjoy the surroundings without having to worry about anything. The show also benefits quite a few charities in the area, it would be a shame for this to end, agreed?

Edge o’ the Dells has a huge burnout competition in there parking lot. I went out last year and did one smoke show, there were so many people there it was hard to find a place to park. I agree that the show shouldn’t be punished for other peoples actions, but the fuzz is too strict on that weekend.
