when was this?
Amigo2kModeratorI personally don’t mind seeing the newer cars there since there is a huge aftermarket now for them as compaired to 10-15 years ago. I think modding out a car 1 or 75 years old is personal taste and many times an art form, but obviously it is a lot easier to bolt something on a 1year old car then have to try to create it for your 75 year old car. Also by inviting this group into the hobbie it will open more doors for sponsorships at events.
As for timing, a show 150 cars and under I think 9-3 is a good time, over 150, 8AM or earlier to give a better chance to spread out the folks coming in than having a narrow window of time and a ton of folks sitting and ideling in line waiting to park (instert over heating smily).
Amigo2kModeratorRate The Cruise Night:
Accessibility (easy to get to):Can’t miss it.
Parking Location: Penty with a guy to help park and the show cars were separate from the vettes
Entertainment: DJ mixing the oldies
Food: I had a wonder salad
Prizes: There was a drawing for a 24″ flat screen TV, and shake for a Vette (they didn’t do the shake thing until 2PM and most folks come and go and don’t stick around
Timing (day/hours): I showed up at about 12:30 and hit the road around 2.
Variety of Cars (week-to-week): only about 12-15 show cars and about 35 vettes, cars came and went and if the vettes weren’t there it would of been pretty slow.
Suggestions: Easy, move the show to thursday and the cars will come …Overall Rating: B+
Amigo2kModerator1. Would you attend a Car Show which didn’t have Trophies or other awards.?
Answer: Yup. I’m not about the trophies, but enjoying the cars and talking with the folks. The 4 awards I have won in the last two years sit in my basement collecting dust.2. Would you attend a Car Show which didn’t have Dash Plaques?
Answer: Yes. I have no place to displaying them so I don’t really care for them3. Would you attend a Car Show which didn’t have food vendors?
Answer:I typically pack a little cooler but with others that attend to check out the cars i think it is a nice thing to have.
4. Would you attend a Car Show which didn’t have Porta Johns?
Answer:Sure. I wait in lines at Football, basketball and concerts to use bathrooms so that is not that big of a deal.
5. Would you attend a Car Show which didn’t have music?
Answer:
I like the music but not when it is blarring in my ear. i understand that due to the size of some somes it is not possible to have the music cover the entire show6. Would you attend a Benefit Car Show, no prizes, awards etc.
Answer: Yup. I typically attend a couple a year. I’m not in it for the awards7. Would you attend a Car Show because you enjoy being around others who have a similiar interest in cars etc. Show your car because you are proud of the results of your hard work putting the car together. Have to bring your own picnic lunch ,get to share time with family and friends and make new friends. Come when you want and leave when you want.
Answer: yes.How to make a car show better:
If you have awards have more classes. Advertise advertise, advertise.
Amigo2kModeratorQuote:Gas cards are definitely a good idea, something everyone can and will use. Who would donate those, the gas companies? If you had a choice, what products specifically would you most prefer to win? Of course cash is always an option! icon_cheesygrin.gifLetters to all the main gas suppliers in the area is where we would start first.
Use part of the 50/50 earning to purchase other cards and prizes as needed.
I’m cool with wax and detail products. If it is something I wouldn’t use on the VW I will use it on the daily drivers.
Amigo2kModerator50/50 is a great idea to raise money from a spectator if you don’t have to be present to win. So that is a whole different deal since most of the time they walk around with a roll of tickets and no sign up forms. You would probably sell more if you didn’t need to be present.
Amigo2kModeratorNow that I rethink it, you are right. A buck or two, as long as it goes towards a cause is a good thing. I don’t think automotion charges (at least I didn’t pay to walk in last year; but they should charge).
Also, another cool thing is to have a 50/50 raffle where 50% of it goes towards a cause.

I wouldn’t mind a light or something to let me know I left the door open (insert Bat in the house story here ……)

Amigo2kModeratorQuote:Do ya think the Cruisers could get something going occasionally on the south side of town or the west side of town? Maybe if it was only once a month, or so. How about the Culver’s off of Fish Hatchery and the Beltline or the Culver’s in Verona?Marshall
I’m planning on writing a nice letter to the Steak and lube sometime during the winter to see if they can change their car cruise in date to Thursday….
I’ll post details and request other do the same to help find a great spot for us to hang out on the west side.
Amigo2kModeratorI’m planning on hitting up the lube too.
Amigo2kModeratorRate The Cruise Night:

Amigo2kModeratorSpecific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – A. No issues. Easy in easy out.
Parking Location – B/C The area’s for the car show was fine, but the spots for the cars for sale was a mud pit in the morning. Nothing like trying to sell your classic car with mud covered wheels and panels ….
Class Organization – B. They tried to section off folks by car type. I was by 2 other Beetles and some Porsche’s
Trophies & Prizes – N?A
Food – B. Normal bugars and brats. and the dipped dilly bar thing was great!
Entertainment – C. One DJ with small speakers (this would of been a great show for the crane that holdes the speakers up in the air idea.
Judging – N/A
Dash Plaque – A. biggest one of the year!
Variety of Cars – B. I didn’t see very many jaw droppers
Bathrooms – B. They had a bunch of them around
Weather – A/B. If it didn’t rain the night before I think the ground would of been much better
Trophy Presentation Timing – N/A
Entry Fee – 5 bucks per person (3 bucks to park and 5 more per person if you wanted to enter, so it is like i saved money!)
Overall Rating:BThere were lots of nice cars for sale but the place was a muddy mess. I skipped about half of the swap meet in the morning due to the huge puddles of mud and water. The main thing I liked about the show was that I was busy the whole time checking out cars and parts….
