A lot of local tracks (ovals and strips) are getting flak from a select few in the comunities. Its a shame.

After getting more information, I can confirm as well, that we were duped. Jim did not have cancer, he is a bit sick, but the fact of the matter is that he did not have cancer.

Weather you are a friend of Lance’s or not is completely irrelevent in this matter. Yes Jim was sick, No he did not have cancer, and yes, the benefit was unfortunatly a bit pointless.

Apparently he was a pretty good actor and did a little cancer research to try to pull that off. I will not dilvulge the reasons why he chose to do this, as it not really public concern.

The specs are nice, but I still find it to be an ugly car in my opinion.

I’ve been in touch with Jim as well, and have a very hard time believing it was a hoax. I’ve had cancer, I know the process and what the treatments do to a person…so if it was a hoax, he’s a hell of an actor.

I have a feeling there is a bit of a pissing match between the two of them, since they have a bit of bad blood.

At this point, its all speculation and none of my business, nor of my concern.

However, IF it was a hoax or someone on either side has been falsifying things…then Im going to be a bit unhappy considering the time, artwork and resources I’ve donated to their events this year.

I totally agree, the F & F movies are pretty weak.

Some of my fav. movies: Gran Tourino, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Casino Royale, Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke, The Gundam Wing series (not really movies), The Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Bullit…to name a few.

    Everyone has their own tastes.

Bay is ok as an action director, but thats about the extent of his abilities imo. I really didnt care for Transformers 2 in all actuallity, although the special effects were spot on.

Eastwood and Scorcesi (spelling?) are my top directors at the moment. As well as whoever directed Casino Royale. They tend to bring out more dynamics and intracies of the characters and the plots.

But thats just my perspective. While I like the occasional action movie, I need something a bit more deep and thought provoking. Miyazaki also is a great director, as is Shirow Masumane. (6 years of art school must have warpped my fragile mind lol).

What is really sad, is that they instituted a pay freeze and a hiring freeze in order to come up with that kind of cash. I totally do not agree with the theory that big paychecks = top talent.

This is another classic example of why vasectomies should be done at birth and you have to prove you are a sane, intelligent, capable person in order to breed. These parents are completely nuts, the kids are going to be pretty screwed up too.

I disagree. What most people dont realize is that if a product is produced for an American company in China, the American company sets the quality control standards.

The majority of companies in China care very much about resale quality (if the product isnt bought, they are out of a job). However, the production standards are almost always set by the “client”, which would be the American company.

I worked for a Chinese company as a design engineer for 4 years…it was a pretty big eye opener.

5 years or so ago, there were a lot of corners being cut over there, but now that is fading away. They basically cannot afford the bad press.

My allegance lies with whoever is producing the better quality and better designed product of comparable price.

Unfortunatly for US manufacturing, the design and in some cases the quality has declined when compared to companies of other nationalities. So in my opinion, I see no reason to buy a product just because it is American made.

It sounds callous, but Im a firm believer in free market on the global scale. If a company cannot compete with its foreign counterparts, then it either needs to step up (as Ford is now trying to do, and actually doing pretty good at it), or it should be allowed to fail.

China is quickly becoming a design and engineering super-power that is going to have a big impact in the future. There is a huge influx of Japanese, and Western design and engineering professors setting up curriculums at China’s Universities, and they are starting to turn out quality design and engineering professionals.

We need to start stepping up our game as well.
