I went to Volo last week. They had a car show and I saw a New Zealand made Chrysler Valiant ute there. Cool car. I’ve been to the Hartford Museum. If you haven’t been there, I recommend you go. Awesome collection from cars to small outboard engines and of course the real steam locomotive they now have.

Opinions anyone? In my world (which isn’t very big) I try and get my products from the US. I have a DJ service and a good 95% of my equipment is American Made. Now let’s compare two model car companies. AMT (Round2)has its kits molded in China. A kit can cost anywhere from $17 to &23 dollars these days. Lindberg, another model car kit manufacturer, has all their kits manufactured in the USA. Their is no difference in the prices, in fact, Lindberg’s might be a couple bucks less. Revell has most of their kits produced in China, with some in Europe and some of the Tom Daniels designed kits (Red Baron, Rommel’s Rod, Tiajuana Taxi) are produced in the US.
lordairgtarParticipantYes, at about 12:30. From what I hear, people on the inside didn’t even know about this, the coppers just started showing up and made the parking volunteers turn people away. There are better explanations on the HAMB and Chromeczars boards.
lordairgtarParticipantI sat down to watch the game and I fell asleep through the whole thing. Getting old is a …..
lordairgtarParticipantI know that people show up on Thursday and they open it up pretty early. They close the place up at 9 or 10PM. Friday during the morning there is time for set up too. Some actually drive to the show if the streets aren’t snow bound. Area of display depends if you are a lone display or coming as a group (car club). It’s like any other car show in that anybodies heap will get in, which I find silly since people do pay a lot to go see the cool cars only to be confronted with someone semi-daily driver. There are plenty of summer time free car shows to do that in. By all means bring your own snacks and food to the event as it is ridiculously expensive as the vendor is the same vendor that does most sports events in town. Don’t bring beer in, they will confiscate it unless of course you are sneaky about it and buy the first bottle there and continue using it by pouring your own favorite beer in that bottle on the sly. Some people just park and leave, others create elaborate displays with lights and other effects. If you require power, you will have to pay a fee for it and I think the union chimp has to plug it in for you.
lordairgtarParticipantThe best way I’ve seen dealing with this is handing out random ballots that have only a couple of the classes. You never get one with your own class and the varying classes kind of eliminate the vote politicing and ballot stuffing. If you are in a class identified by the letter “D”, you then get a ballot with two or three other classes, but never “D”. You would never get a ballot with all classes listed. I’ve been to shows under this system and I think it works.
lordairgtarParticipantThanks for the tip. I’ll remember that the next time. I need to learn to be more patient
lordairgtarParticipantLooks like I got a two week extension. We go to the last Thursday of September now at Jetz/DQ in Muskego. YAY!!!!
lordairgtarParticipantI thought Polosi was gonna have kittens when he did that.
lordairgtarParticipantThanks for the update, Mr Underwood. I will again write my Assemblyman and Senator about this issue. Please keep us apprised of any future meetings that the public can attend.
lordairgtarParticipantTomorrow is the last Thursday Cruise Night at Jetz/DQ in Muskego. If the weather holds I will be there playing the music. If you want to make the trip to Muskego, I’d be glad to see you.
lordairgtarParticipantI’m going to Fond Du Lac for the Wisconsin Street Rod Corn Roast. Friday and Saturday night dances and show on Saturday and Sunday. Then it’s off to Oshkosh for the show on Monday at South Park.
lordairgtarParticipantThis is a good idea. One could remove the engraved pieces and place them on a single wooden plaque along with their corresponding dash plaque as a memento of the event. This with a little photo of the car that got the trophies would look really nice in the den or garage.
lordairgtarParticipantThis weekend, there is at Sindic Motors on Saturday, Aug 28th…put on by the Muskego Corvette club open to all makes. Sunday, Aug 29th in Tichigan Lake put on by Tichigan Lions Club…very big show. On Labor Day weekend is the Wisconsin Street Rod Association’s Corn Roast in Fond Du Lac…huge show. Model car show on Sunday, Dances on Friday night and Saturday night. Age limit for cars…I believe it’s pre 1979.
lordairgtarParticipantAwesome selection of shows this weekend. I’m going to Sindic in Muskego on Saturday for the Corvette club show there and Sunday, I’m going to Tichigan…both real close to home, the HHR needs a rest. LOL Should I do a review after?
