What a great little show today.

moparkid25ParticipantI think alot of it has to do with the man crackin’ down on all the fun. When I first started going, it was great. People cruising, lining the streets watching the cars go by, drinking until it was time to go to the show on Sunday morning. Now the police presence is overkill, and if you fart wrong a cop will be there to ticket you.

Last year the day was incredibly cold and windy, not a good turnout at all and this year they are competing with Automotion. I hope it goes well! You know, after 10 plus years of attending Automotion, I don’t have the excitement that I used to have. I don’t know if I’m burned out or what, but I’ve decided this is the last year for staying the weekend in the Dells, if not my last time attending Automotion.
moparkid25ParticipantStripmasters does good work and the price is right.
moparkid25Participantcircletrack wrote:Ask Steve about Mountain Dew.. several health issues due to years of drinking that stuffFunny you mention that, because he and I had that conversation some time ago. I used to be bad, drinking 5-6 sodas a day. I’m down to two a now – one at work and usually one at home at night. I try to drink more water at work, and more juice/milk at home… My issue with milk is I rarely crave it, and when I do I have to have Hershey’s syrup in it. Ive been taking a calcium supplement but its easier to force myself into a glass of milk a day.
moparkid25ParticipantThinking the same thing as Im drinking one while reading this….
Time to go back to Mountain Dew.

moparkid25ParticipantHas anyone ever been to that Lake Mills show? Any Good?
moparkid25ParticipantI’ve been using one of those canopy chairs for awhile now, I really like it because I don’t have to carry an EZup everywhere I go.
The large 10×10 does have its advantages, but when you’re a one man show the best option is a canopy chair. F&F sells them for about $20.

moparkid25ParticipantHave the Thursday cruise nights started yet?
I’m going to try and make a Road Apples cruise night at Wendy’s this year, that’s where they had them when I first started getting into showing cars.
And they make a mean Frosty.
moparkid25ParticipantGot quite a bit done on the GN over the winter. First, I was able to locate a used ATR 3″ singleshot exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler from a guy in NJ via TurboBuick.com. The price was right, and we worked a deal on shipping. I got the parts, polished the muffler, and then scuffed and painted the tailpipe and intermediate pipe with VHT aluminum finish paint. I also installed the LS1 mass air sensor and MAF translator, so it is compatible with my onboard software. Next was an air divider plate between the plenum and intake manifold. They come from a company called RJC, and they call it a powerplate. It is designed to equally distribute the airflow into the intake, and is good for another 2psi of boost.
As far as mechanical issues, I’ve had a problem sealing the oil pan gasket since the engine was rebuilt. I got a cork gasket (OEM gasket is rubber) from RJC and a different oil pan. Got it installed this week and so far so good, but I’ve only driven from the shop to home  During our warm spell, I did get the majority of the car detailed from its winter slumber, but I have to do the engine bay. Got some other work to do in there yet, so I’ve been putting it off. Other than recharging my AC (already converted to R134a), fixing my cruise control, I need to fix my windshield wipers. RainX only goes so far
With all my other mods, it will be diffucult to compete in a stock class anymore. I am hoping for a track visit at least once this year, so I can break into the 12s. Still looking for some hook for the rear wheels though…
moparkid25ParticipantLooks great Nick
If you have not seen any of his artwork, I can personally vouch for him. Nick has done a couple of projects for me over the past couple years, and every one has turned out BETTER than I ever expected it too!! If you have seen his cars, you know the amount of detail he puts into every project.
Nick, you are one talented guy!!
moparkid25ParticipantI agree with both points. Yes, its hard to have a late-model car in the same class as a restored, 40 year old car. Yes, it does widen the playing field and will likely send the trophy mongers elsewhere.
I think Ryan has it right though as it may be due to space allowed for show vehicles. Some shows are also organized and do not plan for a large turnout, only 30-50 cars. What pisses me off when I see classes like this is when a late model muscle car thats fresh off the showroom floor beats out a fully restored classic that may have taken years to be perfected. That’s where the class designation should be more defined, and nowdays a lot of shows are implementing a Modern Muscle Car class.
