Nothing on my dash either, but I do have a fancy air freshner hanging from the rear view mirror!
April 12, 2006 at 3:12 am in reply to: How do you think the oil situation will affect car industry? #13035circletrackParticipantEventually it’s going to hurt more and more, but what’s a person to do about it? I can’t tell my boss I won’t be in today because I can’t afford to put gas in the car, and I have to get groceries and do my normal errands. I did hear a comparison on the news tonight that a trip up north this year vs. 1999 will only cost $21 more, which doesn’t seem bad at all. I don’t like paying the high prices at the pump and try to fill up at 1/2 tank. More and more I see people putting gas on their credit cards, at least one company is making money!

circletrackParticipantI have tinted windows in my daily driver (at least in the winter) and plan to get the windows tinted in the Mustang next week. Eclipse Window Tinting in Madison does my work and they have set guidelines on what is legal and what’s not, it’s up to you to decide how far you want to go, or what kind of trouble you want to risk. I’ve never had any trouble, most newer cars have really dark windows.
From Eclipse….
WISCONSIN STATE LAW regarding after market window tint as stated in (Trans 305.32) of this the Wisconsin Statutes as of March 3, 1996 reads as follows:
(b) Tinting of the vent and front side windows is permitted as follows:
1.The windows are tinted by the manufacturer of the glazing and are installed as a part of the original manufacturing process.
2.The windows are tinted by the application of tinting film to the inside of the glazing provided that the combination of the glazing and tinting film permits passage through the windows of at least 50 percent of the visible light striking the windows. Tinting film permitted under this subdivision may not be reflective.
3.The windows are tinted, upon the recommendation of a physician or a Christian Science practitioner treating the owner, or an immediate family member of the owner of the vehicle, by the application of tinting film to the inside of the glazing provided that the combination of the glazing and tinting film permits passage through the windows of at least 35 percent of the visible light striking the windows. Tinting films permitted under this subdivision may not be reflective. A written statement from the treating physician or Christian Science practitioner which identifies the patient, the medical condition justifying the recommendation, whether the condition is temporary or permanent and the vehicle to which the recommendation applies, including the make, model, year and vehicle identification number, shall be carried in the vehicle at all times. Tinting film applied under this subparagraph shall be removed when a vehicle covered by the recommendation is sold, when the person for whom a recommendation was made no longer resides in the household of the owner of the vehicle or when the duration of a temporary condition which is the basis for a recommendation has expired.
(5)(a) The rear window may not have any sign, poster or other nontransparent material upon it, other than a certificate or sticker issued by order of a governmental agency.
(b)Tinting of rear window is permitted as follows:
1.The window is tinted by the manufacturer of the glazing and is installed as part of the original manufacturing process.
2.The window is tinted by the application of tinting film to the inside of the glazing provided that the combination of the glazing and tinting film permits passage through the window of at least 35 percent of the visible light striking the window. The tinting films permitted under this subdivision may not be reflective.
3.If a rear window does not transmit at least 60 percent of the visible light striking the window, the vehicle shall be equipped with an outside rearview mirror on the left and right side of the driver’s compartment.
(6) Tinting of rear side windows is permitted as follows:
1.The windows are tinted by the manufacturer of the glazing and are installed as part of the original manufacturing process.
2.The windows are tinted by the application of tinting film to the inside of the glazing provided that the combination of the glazing and tinting film permits passage through the windows of at least 35 percent of the visible light striking the window. The tinting films permitted under this subdivision may not be reflective.
(7) When measuring total light transmittance under subs. (4)(b), 5(b) and (6), law enforcement officers shall allow a tolerance of 3 percent.
circletrackParticipantHa! Actually I really enjoy going to the shows sitting back with friends watching the world go by surrounded by all those beautiful cars! It’s amazing what you can see from show to show! Last year was the first one out for the Chevelle and I was a bit disappointed at a couple shows when I didn’t win, but for the most part it was fun to hear my name called and know people really do appreciate all the hard work and MONEY in these cars.
You’ll do fine Marshall, I can’t wait to see the car finished! Did you ever find out anymore about their painting?
circletrackParticipantQuote:Hopefully, this will make me competitive with a trio of Mustangs that hang with the Wisconsin Summer Cruisers group. A new show car display board, and some other special touches can’t hurt me either. I got beat up pretty badly last year by a trio of Mustangs that have been doing the local shows much longer than me.I will post on the forum as this process progresses.
Marshall
Don’t tell me you’ve gone to the other side?! The group that owns those Mustangs fully expects to win at each and every show and if they don’t, it’s not fun to be around them. Best of luck, can’t wait to hear how it turns out!

I guess in my mind, if you owe millions of dollars to people you stole their cars from and ruined their lives, would you be promoting yourself on national television? Not the smartest move in my book, but it’s his life. I know Gary Esse of Madison Classics has repeatedly told him he’s not welcome at any of his events. He knows his history and wants none of it, can’t say I blame him.
circletrackParticipantWe meant to stop by also and never got the chance. The pictures all look nice. Where is the painting done? From the pictures it looks like everything is right out in the open, I would hope they have a paint booth!
circletrackParticipantQuote:Sorry, But once again, I couldn’t make the meeting. My wife works at night from 6PM to 2AM (terrible hours) and we have a 14 year old daughter at home, so it’s gonna be difficult for me to get to a meeting. The St Jude event and Q-106 at Culver’s sounds promising. So long as that is on a Saturday/Sunday or Holiday, I will make that one!
Marshall
Actually we’re going to hold it on one of our regular cruise nights ~ June 13 or 20 is the date, I can’t remember right now. We’d love to see you out, bring your daughter along!
circletrackParticipantThe meeting was good! Culver’s has lots planned for the club this summer starting in June with a St. Jude event paired with Q-106. They will also have the Culver’s racing team a couple times along with other special events sprinkled in throughout the summer. We have lots of members anxious and ready to get the season started ~ me included! I did pass the word along about the website and some had reservations about the former President also having access, but I assured them there is nothing we can do about that, no need to worry. I’m working on getting new t-shirts made up for club members, we have some from 2-3 years ago but they are worn out and no longer available. I’d love to see guys at the next meeting! wave.gif
circletrackParticipantActually we already have the shirts, but they are a couple years old and no longer available. The newer members would like to get some, so I’m thinking I could just take a shirt in, or send a file and have more shirts made?! I’m clueless on the situation, but know there is a need to have some made. Any chance he could do something like that for the club?
circletrackParticipantSame here!
circletrackParticipantHello! wave.gif
