I talked with Big Block, the Hayes clutch was defective from the factory. He had the clutch replaced and it was was determined it was not torqued correctly from the factory.

    Hi GTO
I would have to say the Cobra is with in the top five in sales.
    32 Roadster , 32 3window cpe , 34 3 window cpe and the 41 Willys.
These facts are not in stone but I bet there real close . It actualy flops from year to year, but generally this is how I reseive it in my shop.

Those are are all cool cars, they had such a great design. One of the other replicas was an Excaliber. I believe they also make a Dusenberg II.

This is when you truly know you are a gearhead and proud to say so.

A couple of months ago at work our HR director found a bag of marijuana on the shop floor and there was a meeting amongst the shop guys to address the situation. Later in the day one of the guys joked with me and asked if the drugs were mine. This was my response,

“First off I don’t know what the stuff looks like and second, if I had the money to buy the stuff I wouldn’t. I would use the money to buy aftermarket car parts!”

That my friends, is true acknowledgement and a badge to wear to the world that you are a gearhead. Drogar-BigGrin(LBG).gif

Smart man, you have the right idea.

I know I am a gearhead when I spend all morning at work thinking up excuses to take off early, go home and take one of the cars out for a drive. And I have done that quite a few times. There can be nothing more relaxing than taking a drive on a nice afternoon.

Has anybody tried the Coker Tire Co. reproduction wide oval tires on your classic? Bias ply or radial and how do they hold up?

I have heard good and bad things about Coker. Some love them, some hate them. I think they put out a good product. What they have done is to buy up the molds for the old tires. They have the tires produced with the old molds. Because they don’t produce the tires in large quantities they probably don’t have quite the quality control of the large manufacturers.

Just look at Nascar and the Goodyear tires they use. They seem to have plenty of problems with them.

I agree with both of you, I like them as long as that is what they are portrayed to be. I know years ago they came out with a Shay replica of the Model A. I have seen a couple over the years but not many. Would you say the most popular is of the Cobra?

That is interesting. Like you say China and India have alot of power in the world economy. You know their need for oil will be increasing, not decreasing. And they own alot of the US debt also. We have very little leverage as far as the price of oil and just about anything else. In what I have ordered lately the shipping costs have gone up alot. I ordered a fan blade for my GTO, the blade was $63 and it was &15 to ship it.

In my line of work, computer consulting our salaries have been undercut by outsourcing and the H1b’s over here. Haven’t had a raise for 4 years and don’t expect one this year.

I didn’t realize scrap was bringing so much, might be worth looking around for some easy pickings.

That is one cool car, very tough looking. They should have no trouble selling as many as they make.

First show I will be attending will be Jefferson which takes place April 23-24. It is usually alot of fun because people are anticipating the start of good weather and getting their cars out. There are usually alot of cars for sale and thousands of vendors. Fall Jefferson last year had as many good cars for sale as I have ever seen there. It seemed like a number of people were selling cars they didn’t really want to but because of economic conditions felt they needed to.
