GTO ManModeratorQuote:It’s been years since I wrote this artical and it is related to Motorcyle engines, but it may be of interest to car nuts also. Especially if they run double overhead cams:
http://www.racer-x.dragbikecentral.com/custom.htmlThat is a site I made about 5 years ago. I’m suprised it’s still up.
Nice looking bikes on the site. I like that ’67 Nova SS. Sounds like you do your own mechanical and performance work. I wish I had the knowledge to do that.
GTO ManModeratorI thought that Mustang was real in that picture. It’s amazing the amount of detail the diecast models have.
I have a number of diecast models, mainly muscle cars. In the last couple of years they have really added many different types of models from the 20’s and 30’s up until today. Quite a variety of prices also, from the $20 range up to 100’s.
GTO ManModeratorQuote:I love the classic styling and grunt of the GTO both then and now. We have a local performance shop called Motorsport Technologies (http://www.motorsporttech.com/). They specialize in LS1, LS2, LS6, and ZL1 equipped rides and one package that caught my eye was one in which they take the stock GTO, perform a bore/stroke job, new heads and cam, intake and exhaust and tuning enhancement. At the end of the day they will produce a GTO that will make 645 horsepower. You should see their Z07 package for the Corvette. 😈I also have a local outfit that sells classic cars and muscle from all eras. Have a look:

Nice looking ’69 GTO on the site. It’s amazing the power they get out of these engines. That new GTO with 645 hp would be unbelievable. I hope they give the new GTO a chance to catch on better than it has so far. It seems because of the drive for profits these car companies won’t give some of these cars a chance to succeed.
One of our friends up here had two LS6 Chevelles which he recently sold within the last year. They were original with approximately 10k on them. He said he really didn’t feel comfortable driving them because of their worth.
GTO ManModeratorNice looking Charger. They were always a tough looking car. Certainly in the top five muscle cars.
The Charger Daytona and the Plymouth Superbird were interesting vehicles. They were made to compete on the super-speedways. But they actually were too fast, speeds were pushing past 200 mph and Nascar decided to slow it down, so they banned the wings. Daytona’s and Superbirds didn’t sell well when they came out, probably too radical for the buying public. If they only knew then what we know now.
GTO ManModeratorQuote:I have installed Coppermine Photo Gallery, which allows users to view and upload pictures.
It can be found here:

I’m slowing putting all the car shows up there. I’m still working out all the bugs but once I get it all properly configured any user will be able to post their pictures on it.
Reactions?Coppermine looks great, nice way to display the pictures.
GTO ManModeratorI think the new GTO has the drivetrain to live up to the original’s heritage. Styling-wise I think they did a poor job, but the aftermarket industry will come up with many products. I have a ’68 GTO convertible. They were a tough looking car with the power to back it up. The new one can certainly back it up also.
GTO ManModeratorI saw the Charger in Fast and the Furious a couple weeks ago at the Volo Auto museum north of Chicago. All the cars there are for sale also. A big variety of cars for sale.
GTO ManModeratorOne of the coolest episodes on The Twilight Zone was with William Shatner as a passenger on an airplane. He keeps seeing this creature out the window on the wing. It finally drives him insane.
GTO ManModeratorVery nicely done. All the modifications fit perfectly with the car. What do you think of the new Mustang? I think they did a great job of incorporating the retro look. Looks like Steve Mcqueen could pull up in it it at any time.
GTO ManModeratorThere were also many interesting movies which sprang out of the nuclear age, Them, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Blob. I can come come up with a lot more titles. Interesting the way movies reflect what a society is thinking about.
GTO ManModeratorThe Charger on Dukes of Hazzard was cool, along with Robert Urich’s T-bird on Vegas.
GTO ManModeratorNice looking Mustang. Has it been customized at all?
GTO ManModeratorNice car, should get good mileage. As prices keep going higher people will have to start thinking about fuel mileage. Around here it just hit $2.05/gallon for regular unleaded, mid-grade is 2.15 and premium about 2.25.
GTO ManModeratorQuote:I just wanted to start a topic where everyone could post their own tips and tricks for restoration. Some simple things can really save alot of time if you know about them ahead of time. One tip I have is be sure of what your doing, don’t just assume things. For instance, while helping BIG BLOCK restore the interior of his 71 cutlass we discovered an interesting problem, the perferated holes for the window handles on the rear panels were in the wrong spot. So in other words take it slow and make sure everything lines up.
I think one of the reasons for the door panel problem in the Cutlass is that the manufacturer just recently came out with the product. When we restored the interior of my GTO the panels fit perfect. But they had been producing them for years. So pre-measuring can save meny headaches.
GTO ManModeratorGood job on the forum Garibaldi! Things seem to be starting to take off.
