There were also many interesting movies which sprang out of the nuclear age, Them, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Blob. I can come come up with a lot more titles. Interesting the way movies reflect what a society is thinking about.

The Charger on Dukes of Hazzard was cool, along with Robert Urich’s T-bird on Vegas.

Nice looking Mustang. Has it been customized at all?

Nice car, should get good mileage. As prices keep going higher people will have to start thinking about fuel mileage. Around here it just hit $2.05/gallon for regular unleaded, mid-grade is 2.15 and premium about 2.25.

I just wanted to start a topic where everyone could post their own tips and tricks for restoration. Some simple things can really save alot of time if you know about them ahead of time.

One tip I have is be sure of what your doing, don’t just assume things. For instance, while helping BIG BLOCK restore the interior of his 71 cutlass we discovered an interesting problem, the perferated holes for the window handles on the rear panels were in the wrong spot. So in other words take it slow and make sure everything lines up.

I think one of the reasons for the door panel problem in the Cutlass is that the manufacturer just recently came out with the product. When we restored the interior of my GTO the panels fit perfect. But they had been producing them for years. So pre-measuring can save meny headaches.

I don’t know how many have seen shows like The Invaders, Outer Limits, Night Gallery, Twilight Zone. They were like the first wave of sci-fi type shows.

This is the official thread for posting your performance specs of cars you currently own. Please give us a little history of the car too. :D

Current cars – ’68 GTO with a 400 4 speed. Last summer had a complete valve job. Scheduled to get a new clutch in April. Each tank of unleaded premium I try to run through 4 to 5 gallons of racing fuel, Shell 110 octane. The engine responds like a cat going after catnip. Between 350 and 400 horsepower.

’69 GTX – 440 with a 6-pack. The 6-pack is 3 2 barrel carbs at 500 cfm each. It has a 4 speed and is a real animal on the road. Minimum of 390 horsepower.

    ’56 Thunderbird – 312 V8 with 225 horsepower.

I think they could of done a better job of making it look like the original. They needed a more powerful engine also. The dealers didn’t help when they added a premium onto the sticker.
