In theory the Trickle Down Economics made sense. In actuality, not so much. I do believe the concept was good. It did work some but not at the level it should have. Kinda like making laws against racism, all well and good, but you can’t change people’s hearts with laws. Of course now the big cheeses are now reaping what they’ve sown. All I know is the economy started getting better during Reagan’s second term and progressed through Bush 1 and the Clinton admin, through part of Bush 2. You cannot say some businesses expanded during this time and increased their employee count, because they did. Unfortunately, greed got the better of some of these CEOs.
lordairgtarParticipantSome people didn’t show up to work today. Boss buys donuts for morning break and pizza for noon.
Cost of donuts……….$7.50
Cost of pizza………..$35.00
Being able to say “Neener neener neener to the absentees tomorrow…priceless.lordairgtarParticipantGTO Man wrote:

The workers want to make sure they get the pay coming to them.I saw that on the news, I guess their bank rescinded their line of credit. Not good if payroll is being made with loans.

No, a recession is described as two consecutive quarters with negative growth…has nothing to do with the President elect. A slowing down of the economy isn’t a recession.
lordairgtarParticipantCheapest in Milwaukee is $1.59
lordairgtarParticipantIf you have kidlets, Some of the recent CGI movies are quite entertaining.
Ratatoullie
Wall.E
Cars (of course)
That movie about surfer penguins which I can’t remember the name of.lordairgtarParticipantAmigo2k wrote:

That one is more related to a change in technology. People with access to the internet and its vast collection of businesses relating to musicians made the local record store obsolete. The core demographic of Atomic Records were young college age people who are very internet savvy and can buy and download their music online.

lordairgtarParticipantI work for a family owned business that employs less than 50 people…I like it. Pay may not be too great, but the people running it are decent.
lordairgtarParticipantFrom where?
lordairgtarParticipantSay what you will, but most of us on this board have nice cars that we can play and tinker with and nice houses to live in. I remember the Carter years…no home, no job, living on the street. These past years since 1982 I have been paying my bills, staying warm and housed. I bought my first new car last year, yup, Bush really screwed up my life.
lordairgtarParticipantThe only car to have a positive sales record was the Mini Cooper.

When we wanted economy, we all went import. The “buy american” people accepted less quality and the “import” people demanded quality. They don’t know how to think outside their own boxes.[/quote]
But now US quality is on par or better than the imports. My 2007 HHR has had no trouble and the Impala was rated quite high.lordairgtarParticipantAs well you should have won that argument. I BTW am a right wing conservative and was appalled at the arrogance of the CEOs flying in their private jets. Now they say they will go to Washington in hybrid cars. I think that is too little too late. First, let’s quit installing these Execs from non auto related businesses. What do food and cosmetics execs know about the auto industry? The execs should at least have some love for cars. I mean people like Jim Wangers, Lee Iacocca, those kind of guys.
lordairgtarParticipantGovernment will become intelligent and responsible when we elect intelligent and responsible people to those positions. Also may I suggest maybe getting involved by running yourself for a spot in local government? Aldermanic posts, school board, county supervisor, township president? Perhaps if we get more small business people, middle class workers and NOT lawyers and activists, it could happen. I’m thinking of running for school board myself.
