Thanks keep me posted, I know what you mean about cold shows, Mineral Point had one to be a fundraiser for the Iowa County Fair a few years back and it reached a high of 30 degrees that day in the sun, couldn’t polish the car because your hand froze to the paint! Only 7 cars showed up and they haven’t done anything similar since a reorganization of fundraiser organizers, really too bad being that it was so close to home.

Have to love the implementation of technology to improve a show, I wonder how long it will take before judges each walk around with a laptop instead of clipboard entering in category numbers, maybe they could then upload the results to your account on here some day so you can see your scores and know what to improve on. Anyway sounds like a nice show thanks for the information!

Drove through Mineral Point after the Lancaster car show, had to be about 100 convertibles lining the main streets and cruising all over. Looks like the rain started to come in around 5:30 so there was what might have been the largest mad dash to close convertible tops of all time, better check with Guinness. Seriously though a lot of nice cars and great variety! Wish I had a convertible!

Series of Rides, 86 Town Car (work in progress), 90 Coupe de Ville (primary show car), 88 Electra Park Avenue (Daily but may see it at a show or 2). As for the Avatar pictures, I like the pinocchio but now I have to see that face even more often, I might become ill!

That’s right I could only count about 40 cars, I think a big part of that might have been the show going on in Merrimac at the same time as I heard a lot of people went there and more still went to Rock Springs, Elkhorn, and Wisconsin Rapids…even more shows to choose from this coming weekend decisions, decisions.

Thank you both for your replies, there are quite a few options that week but Black Earth was one I had considered each year and was looking to check it out this year….a biannual show is an interesting thought, wonder how that might affect participation.

I completely agree that automobiles are a work of art (particularly cars like that Edsel, love the look of those things). I ended up parking in the little lot off of American Legion St. because there was no where else to go by the time I rolled in late. 44 seems like a pretty good turnout for a show that isn’t really advertised that much, I was there last year and they don’t send flyers or ask for addresses on the registration forms to do so. Thanks for the insights into the show, and for the record painting the BMW silver seems like the sensible choice with the least hassle IMHO (but then again I’ve seen a pretty nice Orange paint jobs like this one

So what’s in store for the BMW now that it has been painted? Neat idea to let the kids paint it, haven’t seen that before. Too bad the downtown businesses don’t take more of an interest, if each sponsored an award they could literally point at the building during the awards ceremony, can’t get much better advertising than that. The bar down around the corner seems like the big hang out during this event each year but I’m only in Mazo once a year (guess what for) so it might be packed all the time for all I know (is that the Saloon you mentioned, if so good for them!).

Found another show also on the 30th of July in conjunction with Sauk City’s Polka on the Riverway event. Called the chamber, basically a show n shine with no awards or judging but nice parking right on the riverwalk behind the buildings on Water street. runs from noon to 8pm. More details here:http://www.saukprairie.com/polkaontheriverway.htm about half way down the page.

If anyone is interested there is also a show in Mazomanie on the 30th along with Mazo Fun Dayz, really nice dash plaque last year…a couple details here: http://mazomaniechamber.com/chamberevents.html but I’m not involved in it so that’s all I know. Last year I was able to make it to the end of the Mazo show on the way home from the one in Deerfield (run by some really nice people)…hard to decide what to do this time around.

Yeah engine blow ups get to close to that appalling Cash for Clunkers program thought process for my taste…though I heard they did the same thing to some little import engine the night before and it didn’t last half as long as the 3800 V6; I won’t lie that made me smile.

Yep 8.8 miles outside Hazel Green at the intersection of Badger Rd and Sandy Hook Rd. Exit off the main highway (61 151) is a bit before to Eagle Point Road. I think its worth checking out, a good cruise from Madison though.

I’ve got the photos up for this show so you can check out the variety if you wish: http://www.wiscollectorcar.com/photogallery/thumbnails.php?album=523 Anybody take pictures in Edgerton…a show I’ve considered going to the last few years but I like heading in a direction other than East to start off the day sometimes!
