Indianapolis Indiana when it was at the track. A lot like Jefferson, but had a chance to do a lap around the track.
Grays Lake Illinois. Nice place for a show/swap but the price is higher than Wisconsin shows.
Pomona California. People are out before sun up with flashlights.
Charlotte North Carolina. Huge swap and show inside and outside the track. Makes Iola look small. You need to know where the bathrooms are. Not like here where there are a lot of bathrooms and Port-O-Potties. Venders rent their own and keep them locked up.
Saint Louis Missouri, Pigeon Forge Tennesee, Dubuque Illinois, and Amana Iowa for Kaiser-Frazer national meets. These were held at hotels.montefrazerParticipantDoes a ladder come with this?
montefrazerParticipantMy 67 Chevelle SS. Of all the cars I’ve had, that’s the one I would want back. My favorite year for GM A body cars.
montefrazerParticipantHere is an article about them. http://dodge.off-road.com/dodge/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=194353
montefrazerParticipantI like a park or grassy/field setting. Blacktop gets too hot on a sunny day and is very hard on the feet and legs if it’s a large show and there is a lot of walking to do. I went to a show and swap at Pomona once. It was all blacktop and my feet and legs were very sore after walking around there. People were walking around there with flashlights before the sun came up to avoid the heat of the day. Walking around Jefferson or Iola doesn’t bother me the way Pomona did.
montefrazerParticipantHi CJ wave.gif wave.gif
montefrazerParticipantWorth a try. Can’t say that I’ll make that one either. Sometimes I work Saturday mornings.
montefrazerParticipantcrybaby2.gif crybaby2.gif Proof that some people have more money than common sense.
montefrazerParticipantI showed up late, too. Maybe next time.

montefrazerParticipantI met him through the local Kaiser-Frazer club. I know he had a Darrin, but I never got details on his collection.
montefrazerParticipantInteresting car. Worth seeing in real life. If Preston Tucker could have gotten the company to produce cars for years, who knows what would have happened. If the one on display is green, it was owned by a Wisconsin car collector who died a few years ago.
montefrazerParticipantSold for $7,600.00.
montefrazerParticipantI went to Wally’s shows from the 70’s until it ended in the late 80’s, I think. Might have been very early 90’s. It was a local version of Iola. Packard, Deusenberg, Cord, Auburn, Tucker, etc. Lots of rare cars and true Classics. The Early Ford V8 club had an area. The local Chevy club had an area. Near the end, some 70’s cars started showing up. The Rod and Custom show had touring show cars, vans, bikes, depending on what was popular at the time. Some local cars made it into the show and they changed as the years went by. The Olds and Pontiac shows changed from 30’s-50’s then to mostly 60’s-70’s now.
montefrazerParticipantQuote:Just a few years eh? So what were some other big shows back then? (obviously fewer though)The biggest were Wally Rank’s show at his dealership and the Rod and Custom show at State Fair park. Foster Pontiac and Renner Oldsmobile put on shows for many years. Zweifel Ford used to have a good Ford show many years ago.
