Yeah, I may hit up QSL this Friday also. There’s been talk of going to the Armory show since it’s nearby.
:nos:
moparkid25ParticipantThe IROC isn’t too classic, but I would be interested!
moparkid25ParticipantNo shows for me this weekend, I’m moving
moparkid25ParticipantOh Yeah, I forgot to mention in one of Amigo’s pictures that the dude scrubbin’ that IROC is lookin’ pretty good…. wave.gif
moparkid25ParticipantSpecific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – A, real easy show to find and to get to.
Parking Location – B, all the cars were parked on the grass.
Class Organization – B, all cars in the same class were parked together. They need to break up some more classes, way too many cars in Special Interest.
Trophies & Prizes – B, nice trophy for the size of the show.
Food – A, burgers, brats, pork sandwiches.
Entertainment – F, F! F!! When is 3d Sound going to get rid of this DJ? She used to DJ the Monroe Show in years past and was very annoying. She was still annoying today but it seemed she had toned it down a bit compared to her usual rambling of the mouth.
Judging – B
Dash Plaque – Got one, nice.
Variety of Cars – B, some usuals and some new stuff.
Bathrooms – C, clean but there was line forming towards the end of the day…
Weather – Good until I got to New Glarus on the way home where I was met by a downpour.
Trophy Presentation Timing – About 20-30 minutes late.
Entry Fee – $10
Overall Rating:BThis is a good show, but there are a few things they need to change up. They need to have some newer vehicle classes, perhaps an exotics class, a Corvette class, etc. The Special Interest catagory filled up quick. I also agree with Amigo that they should imply a “One Car-One Trophy” rule. It’s too easy to win a best Mopar and Best of Show when you’ve got a trailer queen (Not that the red cuda in question isn’t a beautiful car or isn’t worthy of an award – It is a very nice, well restored car). I felt there were a couple other Mopar muscle cars worthy of the Best Of award.
Oh yeah, I guess I already gave my thoughts on the DJ….. icon_vomit1.gif
moparkid25ParticipantQuote:Sounds like an interesting show, how long a drive is it to Lancaster?Normally about an hour to an hour and a half from Mt. Horeb depending if you take the “Stitzer Bypass” or not.
I got there from Blue Mounds in 45 minutes yesterday….. dontknow.gif
moparkid25ParticipantI’m moving that day, but if I get done I’m only 10 miles from Black Dirt. I will try to stop down thumbsup.gif
moparkid25ParticipantLancaster on Saturday for me, then to Albany on Sunday. Big weekend, lotsa fun, bigger fuel bill this month…. BangHead.gif
moparkid25ParticipantI guess I would have to change my vote about this DJ after other’s feedback. He did insult the Monroe police dept. on more than one occasion about those donuts, and he wouldn’t shut up about the fact they were in route to the square. However, I still don’t believe he was as annoying as the lady they had in years past.
Another incident that took place at this show should be discussed, and maybe the car show thread is the right place. People should not set up sun tents where they cannot be secured to the ground. Did anyone else see the Thespians’ tent take to flight and cream that silver SSR? To say that guy was pissed is an understatement. I was talking with a good friend of mine from Monroe at the moment this happened, and he was just telling me how anal the guy is with ALL of his vehicles. After the tent hit his truck, you could see pure hatred in this guy’s eyes, I can’t say I blame him…especially when I’ve been known to blow up a time or two icon_cheesygrin.gif He called the police down to file a report. Not sure what happened after that. DDhemi brought up a good point about the waivers we all have to sign not holding anyone responsible for an accident. The truck owner or his insurance company can’t go back after anyone to get the vehicle fixed. Another good point made was that these “Thespians” should have known better about placing there display near the show cars. It’s an unfortunate situation that could have been resolved had someone used there head.

Very cool to see so many cars. Not many together but still cool. We would see groups of 4 or five at a time. Then I paid my $25 to park inside. What a great event. So many different variety of cars. This is how all shows should be. No class segregation, no year limitations, just car people enjoying the hobby.
Ryan, what happened to you? I turned around at the Alliant Center entrance to go to the participant entrance and never saw you again. I looked for you and your car for a while and then started walking around.
Our whole trip got screwed up, and most everybody I was supposed to go with ended up having to work. I saw Amigo and Jon while I was sitting enjoying the view of cars go thru cross plains….Jon, you musta not heard me when I yelled at you icon_headbang.gif

moparkid25ParticipantQuote:http://www.middletonbigevent.com/schedule.phpA couple more shows on Saturday.
QSL is have a short 3 hour car/bike show
and Chamlers has their show too (20 bucks to enter)
Chalmers show gets some nice cars you don’t regularly see. I was there two years ago with my blue Charger, won best american muscle car. The award was pretty cool, it was a large, diamond-cut piece of plexiglass! He always has food catered in that is no cost to show entrys. $20 does sound expensive, but when you figure in all the fringe’s you get going over there for a few hours, I know I usually spend more than $20 at any carshow between registration, food, and those darn 1:64 scale JL cars I collect jumpy.gif

moparkid25ParticipantPower Tour on Friday for me, and Monroe on Saturday. If anyone else is going to Monroe, I recommend stopping in the old fashioned pharmacy on the SW corner of the square, they have the best milkshakes I have ever had!!!
icon_headbang.gif
moparkid25ParticipantBut the oil price is down to $134 a barrel drool.gif
These “analysts” and “speculators” deserve a firing squad, they are the ones pushing the prices up.
