No shows this weekend, but Saturday night myself and a bunch of friends will be going to the Riverside Cruise at Riverside Park in Beloit. I’ve been to this for about the last 5 years, it’s a pretty good time.

I’m guessing that the magical and astounding ’92 Corvette didn’t win best of show this year? icon_cheesygrin.gif

The only show I know of on the 15th is a car and Bike show at Pokerville Ironworks in Blue Mounds. 3 live bands and I think Arlen Ness is one of the judges. Anyone who knows bikes knows who Arlen Ness is.

Yeah I got a flyer for this, not sure if I’ll go or not. It’s only a couple miles from my house…

I found a flyer for this show:

Sept 15th, sponsored by the catholic church in Highland. Starts at 2pm, no entry fee, no judging, spagehtii dinner from 4-7, accordion music from 5-7.

I believe there having it at a local park in town, but not sure where. Highland isn’t that big, so I’m sure it would be easy to find.

I’m sure most of you have seen the news where my local Police Chief is under scrutiny over misappropriation of funds. Let’s hurry up and forget right away that he’s cleaned the town up and he don’t allow the ‘old guard’ of the village board to push him around. I’ve never met the man personally, but from what I’ve seen he’s done a great job in this town. I voted most of the village board members in office this spring, but now part of me feels that they ran for office with a vendetta in mind. One of the new members was a cop in town about 30 years ago and was relieved of his duties so i’m told, i don’t know for sure because it’s before my time. I guess being a taxpayer of the village, county, and state I feel that the village board should be working along side the law, not against them. Too many people in this ‘old guard’ were easy to be in your back pocket. Yes, what the chief did was against policy, but it’s not like he burned down city hall. In a nutshell, he misused resources. I feel a reprimand is order, though others agree with me, the other half feels he needs to lose his job. There are many other small tidbits, but not enough that they matter. During all this drugs are still being dealt, women and children are being raped and molested, along with other various illegal activities I’m sure. But we’re concerned with the police chief stealing some stamps to mail out flyers for Special Olympics benefits on company time.

I’m no angel. I was in trouble when I was a kid, many times it involved the police. About the time I got into high school I started to realize i wasn’t going anywhere and wanted things out of life. With this came an apprenticeship, graduation, college, and the final product is what I am today. Today I am a citizen who knows right from wrong, I am an induvidual who loves the town where he lives. And most of the time I’m a law-abiding citizen…but once in awhile I gotta burn some rubber w00t.gif I choose not to associate myself with people who feel the need to be the criminal element.

This anamocity between the people who run this town needs to come to an end. Let’s worry about procecting our town and the people that live in it.

Went to the Decoy quite a few years ago, had a pretty good turnout from what I remember.

If your going to win best of show, you shouldn’t win in your class. This keeps it fair for others and gives them a chance to win an award.

    Platteville on Sunday. icon_punk.gif

I’ve been disappointed the last two years with that GTO club show, there best of show has went to a 1992 Corvette dontknow.gif Not only did it happen once, but twice. There were many other well-deserving cars for that award at that show in the past.

Don’t really matter to me, I haven’t went to a cruise night up there since the Road Apples moved to Culvers on the east side…except for that one time last summer w00t.gif

I think if I did go to one they’d probably have the cops remove me dontknow.gif

Trophies & Prizes – A couple radio stations gave away stuff, two trophies per the 6 classes they had and best of show. 3 awards went to the same guy, I’m not fond of that.

How can they justify that? Was it a judged show or particpant judging?

Now, if they played this at a few shows it may liven up the crowd a bit…

    Specific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – B, when I asked for a few spots in the shade, they told me there were none. When I got parked on the football field 15 magically appeared by the beach. No big deal, I just drove down there.
Parking Location – A, lots of shade where I was at. Made for a comfortable day.
Class Organization – N/A, park where you wanted.
Trophies & Prizes – A, my friend Jeff won an award and they were very nice trophies.
Food – B, usual burgers and brats. They did have pies, but I never got the chance to eat any or, nor did i get any ice cream either.
Entertainment – C. I was a little disappointed that 3D sound chose to brodcast Sirius satellite radio all day instead of having a vast array of tunes. This may have been the decision of the show committee, not sure.
Judging – Appeared fair. I didn’t compare vehicles in classes because they weren’t parked by class. I also didn’t hear anyone complain about any of the vehicles that won that maybe shouldn’t have.
Dash Plaque – Yes, very colorful.
Variety of Cars – A+, many cars you don’t see at your local shows.
Bathrooms – B, could use more plastic potties. BTW, these were some of the nicest porta-potties I’ve ever seen….er, used.
Weather – A, another beautiful day.
Trophy Presentation Timing – B, seemed on time, but htey have a lot to give away so it takes a while.
Entry Fee – $10, the going rate. It’s for a good cause this time.
Overall Rating:A This is a great show, better than Blanchardville I think. Today I brought my friend’s ’71 Charger R/T survivor car that I’ve been working on and getting driveable for him when he comes home from California next week, it’s been in storage for over a year. I would also like to congratulate circletrack’s husband, Steve, for winning in the pro-street class with his camaro. There were many nice cars at this show, and everyone should be proud for a great turnout in Pardeeville. I have a soft spot for this town because my mom’s from Pardeeville and when talking with Jim Nelson (the show coordinator) it turned out he and my mom were in the same class in school!! Small world, huh?

How did I miss this topic?

I was just in a conversation with someone the other day about judging. Everyone makes valid points. I would have to say that if I had my choice, I would prefer to be judged by a panel than the particpants/spectators. I also highly agree with Jon, before I used to clean, and clean, and clean some more because I wanted to be the best, I’m also very competitive when it comes to playing sports. BTW I still clean excessively but that’s my nature with all my vehicles. But nowadays I see that winning that $10 piece of plastic isn’t the real trophy, the real trophy is your car! That’s something you can appreciate every day and will always make you feel good.
