I went to the Potosi car show on August 19 put on by the Masonic Temple. Their sponsor (O’Reilly Auto Parts) dropped the ball and never ordered the trophies, so there was no awards to hand out after they announced the winners. All the winners left their mailing addresses with the show staff and they said they would mail out the awards once they received them.
It’s November 23, and I’m still patiently waiting for mine 😉
moparkid25ParticipantLove him or hate him, some of these tariffs need to go under the microscope for the greater good. I can see a tariff on new vehicles, but if you’re buying a collector vehicle, old parts, etc. one shouldnt have to pay an extra 25%.
I just ordered some reproduction Plymouth hubcaps for one of my customers who had me get him a new wheel and tire package for his car, the caps are coming out of Canada. I thought they were overpriced to begin with, I hope when they arrive they exceed my expectations.
moparkid25ParticipantDick never had a bad word to say about anyone, or anything. He was a great guy, and he will definetely be missed.
moparkid25ParticipantI refuse to do any business with Bank of America.
Summit Credit Union has treated me absolutely awesome the last couple years since I switched over to them.
moparkid25ParticipantCobb has a car show on August 12. It takes place at the Fire Department, right off of Hwy 18.
moparkid25ParticipantThe last time I talked with him, he had mentioned that he had the driver’s door fixed. When I saw his car last weekend, it had the redlines on it, which I really dig! It’s a very nice car and worth every penny, Marshall is a great guy too.
moparkid25ParticipantThat Skylark is MMRJR’s car.
moparkid25ParticipantOregon is the plan for Sunday here, that’s always a nice show with a lot of cool cars.
moparkid25ParticipantThis is a great reminder as the season starts … Several years ago I tossed out over 50 trophies … Why? Well the thing that makes me smile is actually driving the cars I’ve owned and talking to folks. My 2017 car season started off yesterday when I took my car out of storage and a truck driver driving a mobile gas station (reference to Smokey and the Bandit) pulled up along side of my car and gave me a little Toot Toot from his big rig. That is what makes me smile is getting others to smile, when they see my car.
I did the same thing last fall. I kept only a few that I felt were very distinguished, or were just a cool looking award, or that had a bit of a hometown meaning to them. The rest I donated to a young fella so he could recycle them into awards for track days this year. I don’t have a specific room in my house I can store all of them in… Sure, they’re nice but I’d rather see my $10 registration go to helping someone in need, a fundraiser, or put towards a community project. As a recovering trophy monger, they don’t mean that much to me anymore. I want to enjoy my vehicle, enjoy others’ vehicles, and now that’s easier as a lot of shows are going display only.
moparkid25ParticipantNot only that, I heard on the radio that Jay Leno is doing a one-night only comedy performance at the Crystal Grand Theatre on May 19. What are the odds its at the same weekend as Automotion?!
I’d much rather see Jay Leno than Richard Rawlings any day.
moparkid25ParticipantI just stare at them uncomfortably with my window down. They don’t approach me for money….
moparkid25ParticipantRyan, you should buy this. It would look awesome next to the Bandit in your garage!
moparkid25ParticipantThat’s one badass street car.
moparkid25ParticipantIf you thought that one was good, the admin’s should give you access to the one I wrote about a show in Reedsburg in 2009.
DDHemi has that one printed off, framed, and hanging on the trophy wall in his shop!!
moparkid25ParticipantIs there a way the old RTS could be archived for people to read even if we choose to not continue it going forward? Some of my old ratings made for good Sunday morning sermons 🙂
