See You Down The Road

After many years serving the classic car community, Wisconsin Collector Car will be shutting down at the end of 2024. Thank you for all of the car show memories!

I bought a pellet stove last year to heat my house… much warmer AND cheaper…

The new 11HP snowblower is working perfectly, too. And this week I put a diesel-fired ESPAR heater in the bunk of my Peterbilt…toasty!

Now… about this fricking global warming…I say bring back global cooling (same panic only 30 years ago)…

Unfortunately the name “global warming” is kind of misleading because the increase in greenhouse gases doesn’t just mean warmer temperatures everywhere, but more extreme weather depending on your location on the globe of course.

Let me know if it is still slow for you in the future. All the optimizations aren’t done yet so hopefully that’ll make it even better once done! :D

What I’d like to point out from the above clip is the following statements:
    – before 1981, the U.S. was the top exporter of manufactured goods, importing the most raw materials, and was the biggest creditor (lending other countries the most)
    – after Reagan, G.H Bush, Clinton, and G.W. Bush, the U.S. is now the top importer of manufactured goods, top exporter of raw materials, and has the biggest debt

This shift (beginning with Reganomics) away from a focus on manufactured goods – as Thom pointedly notes was outlined by Alexander Hamilton – is extremely obvious in our failing auto industry. The auto industry needs to be competitive again by providing affordable, efficient, and quality vehicles to compete with foreign automakers and help bring manufacturing back to America

Yet only just now, we are officially in a recession.

Are you saying that Obama is to blame for the recession or that the “recession” is being hyped because it is only now mentioned?

I would highly recommend The Dark Knight. I thought the acting all around was excellent and the characters really had depth. In addition, Casino Royale, The Departed, and Live Free or Die Hard were also excellent

Its cold on the face but other than that not too bad. It was almost “warm” today when the wind died down!

    seems much better.

Nice layout, fast, easy to read.

    Fantastic, thanks for the feedback!

I’ve found a cool new feature of the board, if you’re thinking of posting an ebay link, instead of just posting the link, copy the Item ID of the auction (located at the top right-hand corner) and put that in your post. Then select it and click the eBay button. The result is pretty cool, for instance using Item ID 310087270379, you get:

    [ebay]310087270379[/ebay]

Glad to hear its a hit! Does it seem any faster at all? I have not done the full optimization yet but just curious to see if this bit has helped!

Yeah, at least it isn’t the wet, heavy, icy crap that we got right away last winter. I’m looking out the window right now, it’s not coming down real heavy, but at this pace over the course of 12 hours we could get a few inches of snow.

I’m sure all the plow bandits are licking there lips.

The Chevelle stays nice and warm all winter in our walkout basement… The Mustang is in the neighbors pole shed, they aren’t charging us as Steve did work for them but if they did I think it’s around $50/month…

I’ve learned through the years you need to be extra careful where you store the cars… We’ve had new dents come spring that weren’t there in the fall due to the tight spaces and trying to get too many in one spot. Thank goodness I see the Chevelle daily!

I know what you mean about being careful when storing your car somewhere else, not only can dents and dings appear, but so do fingerprints that aren’t yours and the chance that someone may rip off parts from your car for there own…

As far as storage prices go, a friend of mine has heated storage in Madison for $65 a month. When he’s not working in the shop the thermostat is kept about 55 degrees. DDHemi keeps his and his dad’s cars in the heated shop over the winter and that stays a comfy 50 degrees when were not working in there. The shed at his farm isn’t heated, but has a nice concrete floor with a vapor barrier to keep moisture out – I think he get’s $40 a month for that.

My GF has her summer car stored in my garage for the winter. I don’t have the heat on in there, but she gets it stored for free, a man knows when to pick and choose his battles My dad also has his motorcycle in there too. With all of that plus two full-size trucks, I still got room for a muscle car again….

I noticed an ad in this past week’s paper (I believe it may have been from Blue Chip Street Rods) for $65 a month, climate controlled indoors.

Also, I know that Capital City Auto has storage for several dozen collector cars also. I have no idea what the fees are there, but forunately, the owner is a “car guy” and gets alot of business from the old car crowd.
