There are a number of areas in the city I go out of my way to avoid. The whole West Towne area is an example. I try to make any big purchases outside of Madison in smaller mom and pop stores. It may cost more but I would rather give them the business.

There was one called Can’t Drive 55 near Russell Marina in Westport. He was there for about a year also. Its a hard business to make a go of it, especially in a climate where you are lucky to use them 6 months of the year. Was the one in Waunakee called Waunakee Motors? I stopped there a couple of times to see what they had. There are a couple of dealers around Milwaukee who have been in business a while. Valenti Classics is one and there is a newer one called Colin’s Classic Automobiles. The websites are

GTO ManModeratorThats the problem this time of the year, you never know about the weather.
GTO ManModeratorD-con is a well known manufacturer, it should do the job.
GTO ManModeratorQuote:Actually, I would disagree, at least on the Shelby’s. If they do check out, I would submit that both are bargains. Also, that 66 convertible (driver quality, 20 footer) is also priced right. However, I would agree that the fastback project car is way overpriced. I have been back a couple of times to look at that 66 convertible. Barrett Jackson auctions have driven up the sale price of Shelby’s the past couple of years, whereas 65K is bargain basement/entry level money for a shelby mustang, especially a 67 or 68. I can’t comment on the MOPAR price, I simply don’t know about these cars.Marshall
The Mopar with a 383 4 speed seems like a good price, if for nothing else the fun factor. I am going to take a ride out there in the next couple of weeks to get a closer look at the cars.
GTO ManModeratorOne is Raymond and Verona Road, it seems rampant for drivers going thru red oights.
GTO ManModeratorI would agree it it tough to watch an exotic or collectible meet its death onscreen.
GTO ManModeratorThe hurricanes have shown how vulnerable people in this country really are. Its good to see Texas was spared alot of the devastation. I don’t think the companies have the excuses to raise gas prices as much as they did for the earlier storm. I think they have a fear of being labeled as price gougers also.
GTO ManModeratorQuote:That New Glarus show sounds like fun, will you be taking your camera?Unfortunately I won’t be attending a show next weekend do to prior commitments, Jefferson may have been the last show of the year for me.
The New Glarus show is October 8 I believe, a week from this coming Saturday.
GTO ManModeratorGood idea, though he doesn’t have any other links listed.
GTO ManModeratorI will check it out. It is nice to see a dealer in Southern Wisconsin. He has a nice website.

GTO ManModeratorQuote:$1000 and under???? Boy, I didn’t see anything of any quality at that price range. I did see a couple of bargain basement Shelby’s though icon_cheesygrin.gifBoth Shelbv’s were older restrorations, (but still show car quality), but when in the last five years of so, have you seen a red, 67 Shelby GT350, in the 65K price range??? I can only dream about a car like this, but still, both seemed to have “I need to sell these today” prices.
Marshall
Did you go to Jefferson today?
GTO ManModeratorThey just don’t have the players to compete with alot of teams. I wonder why they extended Sherman’s contract a year?
